Why even mention we might not like how it looks? It's a breath of fresh air. I'm sick and tired of everyone having their own strat and tele. For fuck's sake...

This is a gorgeous guitar and a brilliant design. Kudos to Annie Clark for coming up with it and to Ernie Ball for having the.... to build it.

I think it looks fantastic, especially the red and blue variants. I love that they're going for a very non-standard body shape. If I was looking to drop $2k on a guitar this would be in the conversation.

Yeah, the blue StVincent and the pink Albert Lee are both on my wish list. I don't get all the hate for the shapes, the world would be boring if we only had Strats and Les Pauls. I have a Les Paul sat next to me right now and although I would like to get a better one someday, I don't ever see myself needing two or more, I would rather have four or five completely different guitars (or six or seven....)

I got a St. Vincent in blue when they first came out. It’s a killer! Five great sounds, very well made & put together. Neck feels lovely. I personally think it looks cool too. :) The knobs and pickguard are intended, I think, to give the guitar some 1950s kitschy Bakelite vibe. Annie Clark (St. Vincent) played an old Harmony model for awhile, and 2nd/3rd-tier guitars like that typically use cheap plastic knobs.
@IPushHard

People aren't all that familiar with mini hums because they aren't used that often, but I've always liked them. They have an accented "gnarl" as compared to normal humbuckers. A slightly smaller pickup field brings it back towards almost a P90 tone. Really though, it's it's own thing...again much like a p90. I like the entire design of the guitar, and all respect to St.Vincent and Music Man for bringing the first truly unique guitar to be released in a long time to market. I think that in one form or another this guitar will last quite a while. It's a keeper. Thanks for the great video!

@evetsnitram8866

It looks great on Annie! The raised plastic on the back is like a Strat and they came with one ply pick guards originally too. The guitar does have some Strat sensibilities and also looks like a cross between a Gibson Firebird and Explorer. Annie is geared more towards the stranger sounds vs. shredding so hence the limited fret access near the higher frets. I've yet to see one in a music store though.

Great sonic walk-through, thanks! Henning nails it - the reviews do not do enough justice to the guitar. When the details are considered, as well as its full spectrum, as well as the cleans, this is a fantastic sounding axe! On the other hand, we have to give kudos to EB for keeping the promo videos in line with St. Vincent's stylistics - a nice touch, for sure. Overall, this instrument requires us to make some effort into researching it; what one can find after scratching a bit of surface, so to speak, is quite astonishing. I am eyeing on this axe.

Man! Or "Mann!" Well, not exactly but almost. :-) Yeah, I wanted to thank you for not doing like all the other people: plug a fuzz pedal and do the whole review of that guitar playing it with a fuzz pedal! This guitar is very versatile, it's a shame to reduce it to fuzz tones only!!!! Like I said, I was just about to write what you said but you said it so much better than I could ever have done! You even mentioned Tim and his 20 bucks guitar for his fuzz tone...Perfect! You made a very well made review video, wie immer und, and you played sehr gut! Again, mein Freund, vielen Dank für making this Video and sharing it with the World! Vielen Dank!!!

Great review. BTW, the cost of recessing the rear covers is not due to the routing, it's due to the difficulty in finishing the edges perfectly without wood tearout or buffing through the finish on the edges. Here, the edges of the hole are covered so imperfections caused by sanding and buffing are irrelevant, and the process can be done much more quickly/efficiently.

I think the shape of the guitar is awesome by the way. They have certainly managed to make a unique looking guitar that could still very much be a classic, which is insanely hard. It is certainly in Firebird territory, but much more elegant.

I love the St Vincent Model. So many guitars are all the same, but it's different. The one thing is that I'm a big guy at 6'5" (196 cm) and I think the body would be a bit small. I've also heard that it's a bit neck heavy. So honestly if they made a model with a larger body it would be something I REALLY want. That or a purple HH Albert Lee. A bigger body on the St. Vincent with a purple burst, oh lordie.

The Sterling St Vincent has a maple neck, and is $599. I'd love to meet one in a pawn shop someday. To inset the back covers on a CNC machine would take more like 15 - 20 seconds rather than 2 minutes. If I complained about anything it would be the headstock but I'd probably get used to it. Even though I don't play anymore I have a guitar crush the blue one with a maple neck.
@TheShinyShow

I thought it was ridiculous when I first seen it, then I saw it in all black. I liked it... So when I saw the blue again I actually thought that's a bloody nice guitar. I think it looks better in the non-vintagey colours like blue, but I do like that one. Gorgeous neck.

I think if the pick guard was smaller (maybe an offset pentagon: the same as it is at the bottom and back but from the top back corner coming down in a straight edge parallel to the bottom and ending at the 20th fret area) it would look a lot nicer as it would leave a triangle of wood at the front that would really highlight its oddity. Imo. It definitely fits the sound I would go for but I can't see myself paying so much for it. But still, it's interesting.

The spring cover plate on the back of a Stratocaster is not recessed either. If it was, the vibrato block would hit it. The St Vincent body is 1/8" thinner than the Strat. Take the covers off and check how close the springs, vibrato block and electronics are to the covers.
