The battle music against battling imps, demons, and devils. This is serious stuff, man! Copyrights to Okami belong to former Clover, ReadyatDawn Studios (for Wii port), and ultimately Capcom.
imagine they add ameterasu along with a dark souls character. that way we can reenact the boss fight against sif in smash bros. (assuming they have her using the sword weapon)
Fun fact: this song utilizes some african percussive instruments, "since African percussion instruments give an impression of the earth, it fits Amaterasu who runs on the earth and the atmosphere of the battles", as said by the composer in an interview
Personally, I find it nice this music doesn't re-start if you get into fights in relatively quick succession; it just fades in again when th next battle starts from the point it left off. And obligatory weapon preference comment: I'm actually hooked on using glaives as a main and 2:1 reflectors to rosaries as a sub. The glaive was really off-putting at first, but once you get the rythym of the attacks down, it's an extremely satisfying weapon.
I downloaded this game for my Switch (it was on sale at the Eshop)and god damn is this the most gorgeous game I've ever played. The graphics, the music the compelling story...everything is so gorgeous.
Main: Rosaries for racking up combos and, thus, godhood. Glaives for dealing with enemies that are down for long periods of time (like certain bosses). Reflectors for a balance of power and speed. Sub: Rosaries for abusing ink bullet......................................................POW! Glaives for sword-surfing fun. Reflector, "A good defense is the best offense."
Reflector x Reflector. Not only do you have a decent combo in air and on ground, but defense, AND and attack made from that defense. Perfectly balanced moveset.
This has comments as old as eleven years ago and as recent as a few months ago, so I guess it's valid to still comment? Main: reflectors at first, then felt at home with glaives. It's so fun to jump above enemies damaging them with that one dojo technique, then unleashing that falling slash-stomp!! Sub: rosaries, specially those that fire one "bullet" at a time. Good for a distance and I feel they're more reliable. I was very thankful that Tundra Beads were of this type. Bonus: I'm yet to go through the second and third Black Devil's Gate challenges, but I used Whirlwind during most of the ones in Ryoshima's to hilarious and ungodly (pun not intended!) effects. I doubt it'll be as reliable for stronger Devil's Gate challenges, though...
There is some african percussion present tho, there to give the song an impression of "earth" to the atmosphere of the battles, as said by the composer in an interview
One of the little things I love about this game is the drum beat at the 10-second mark or so. That riff appears in several of the other early level fight themes on the soundtrack, and somehow it feels kind of like the pre-battle handshake, getting you into the headspace for a fight.
after years, I started playing this game again. I have found myself entering in normal battles just for the sake of listening to Amaterasu exorcise devils with this on the bg. Oh, also, since everyone is saying their equipments of choice... I go glaive/main, rosary/sub. I find glaives dealing quite some damage, and don't really allow any flinch to enemies, as they get downed before it triggers. Rosaries are just auxiliary weapons for some chip damage from safe distance.
Rosary as main and reflector as sub! The shield is SUPER useful and I usually like to keep my attacks long-range so the rosary is useful :D (occasianally i switch to glaive for sub if im feeling for quicker fights :D )
I remember liking rosaries the best, cause i could never figure out the other weapons cause i skipped the tutorial dialogue 😓 it was only until the end of the game that i figured out i could press z to use my sub weapon.
My main usually varies, but I *always* use Rosaries as subs. I was never good with Glaives, and I can do just fine without them. In Devil Gate Trials, I use Rosaries as my main for Godhood and the Bead String damage bonus. Add that to some Steel Fist Sake and maybe the String of Beads, and everything dies without trouble. Everywhere else in the game, though, I set Reflectors as my main.
thunder edge helps SO MUCH when you're in that one place doing the demon gate over and over ten times to get a stray bead, by the way, an easy way of beating a blue cyclops (blue stone face one eye with wings with a pipe) but ONLY do that when you have the most powerful weapon in the game equip that as main and equip thunder edge as sub
I love swords, so I usually used glaives as both main and sub. Sword-surfing is fun. My favourite is the Blade of Kusanagi due to its jade green colour. I sometimes changed my sub to rosaries 'cause I love shooting bullets at the enemies. I rarely used the reflectors, but I absolutely love the design and enchanting movement of the Infinity Judge.
I use Rosaries as my main and Glaives as my Sub...surfing on a sword makes the harder fights easier and I need to get some God Hood so Rosaries are ideal
Since everyone's sharing their weapon main- I enjoy glaives as main and rosaries as sub, so I can shoot from afar and build up Godhood, then slash the enemy to ribbons once they get close. Although double glaives are nice once you get the dojo technique that strengthens them both!
I usually use glavies as my main and a eflector as my sub, seeing as how reflectors act as sheilds. i almost never change it, i'm too used to pressing (triangle i think for the ps2 xD) triangle and reflecting the attacks. once i changed it to the beads and almost got killed. (i was fighting Ninetails :P)
As you walk among the dark path... You see nothing but a pitch black nothingness... Then... You ran... As fast as you can... But you were never moving... Now you are in my hands... You Allowed the pitch black darkness to shallow you...
everyone's saying their weapons so i use all rosaries bc i like range and speed for fighting in almost all fight games and i never use sub weapons and rosaries look the coolest as subs
I usually fought with the Tundra Beads and had the Solar Flare as a sub if things got serious, like when you had to fight the multiple Nagis for that one stray bead... but if Im just having fun I liked to use a glaive or two. :P
@BoltFraction Second'd. The final hit with the multiple quick strikes is always satisfying. They seem nicer to wear as well, the beads are a little off putting and the only reflector I like is the first one, since that's Ammy's look!
I REQUIRE AMATERASU IN SMASH BECAUSE IF THERE IS NO AMATERASU, I WON'T PLAY I AM BORED WITHOUT AMATERASU BECAUSE SHE INSPIRED ME WITH HER JAPANESE POWERS AND STUFF!!!
