They write, arrange and produce almost all their own music. They do not do all their choreography but sometimes have an input on it. Unless the three member Danceracha put out something of their own. They usually choreograph that.
SKZ were Korean goblins in Thunderous which is represented by the blue fire/light in this MV. There are a lot of traditional & modern details from Korean culture included in the music & visuals. The funny thing is a lot of kpop companies asked their producers to create music similar to SKZ Thunderous & Gods Menu. Fortunately, SKZ music is unique in the kpop industry because the members do it themselves so no one can replicate their sound. SKZ were hated massively for their unique sound for years but now everyone wants to sound like them. SKZ Leader Chan (main producer) said it himself "they're be hating while we're producing". It's admirable how SKZ stayed true to themselves even if they didn't sound " kpop trendy" for the industry and many kpop fans. I love how they always try all kinds of genres of music & do it in a unique SKZ way. Their music is so rich and full and powerful! Their music is comfort in so many amazing ways! So thank you for reacting to SKZ music! 😊
Well said! SKZ sound is very unkpop. I wasn’t interested in kpop until Stray Kids. The consistent high quality, interesting production, message, and improvement is amazing to witness over the years. I love the originality and musical nuggets myself. Stray Kids is certainly not an overnight sensation. I am glad Chan never caved to be trendy.
The Korean name of the song refers to a sorikkun, a type of traditional Korean vocalist. The second bit of Changbin's rap in the beginning (when he's holding a fan) is modeled after the traditional pansori style of a sorrikun's performance. Traditional instruments of numerous types (drums, cymbals/gongs, and pipes/winds), from several traditional performance styles (particularly samul nori and pansori), are worked into the track. In the choruses, and by the end of the song, they're the dominant instrumentation (this includes that resonant thudding you noticed near the beginning, as well as the instrument you thought was a trumpet or trombone and the drum you thought was a small tom -- basically, everything you're hearing through a western lens and assigning to a western instrument is not a western instrument). Deep voice is Felix, one of the two Australians. No, the animation had nothing to do with promoting a movie or any other media. The red outfits, the animation, and the story (the in-video story, not the overall SKZ lore, of which the events in this video are just a small, metaphorical continuation) are all about the members being dokkaebi (powerful Korean folklore goblins) coming down from their lairs to lead a revolution by declaring themselves the thunderous ones (SKZ are hated on for being "noisy") and winning a sorikkun competition while defeating the "villains" who throw hate at them and oppose new voices. The animated moments were to unite the otherworldly dokkaebi element with the actual real live humans, since doing something else (animatronics, CGI, whatever) to demonstrate goblins would have just looked ridiculous. Whereas using brief animation gave a cool nod to the group's love of anime.
As a music producer prospective I highly suggest their Domino song from Stray Kids... It doesn't have MV but u can check it's lyrics video and if u interested then live performance video... I highly recommend this ... Looking forward to ur reaction ..
Thank you for reacting to SKZ! Just a lil note; Stray Kids do not make all of their own choreography! It’s a common misconception☺️ They do however incorporate their own ideas and do small changes to the choreo so it fits them better
thanks for checking out thunderous! I'll guarantee you that Bang Chan, one of the main producers of their music, is bound to see this video! He always checks out people's opinions on songs!
Thunderous is a masterpiece. I also highly recommend Backdoor. If you're still checking out other groups, I'd love to see your reaction to Guerrilla by ATEEZ.
Hi! So sorry- but sometimes facts get a bit messed up- skz (stray kids) are a very talented group but the choreography making bit it false- they have contributed to the making of it before and still often do, but they do not do it themselves :/ sorry to be a bummer but it’s best to not spread the false info :)
Yup they are pretty much all self produced and write their own music and beats with Bang Chan and that groups leader (3Racha) It also helps having Lee Know 3:21 who is a trained dancer and used to be a backup dancer for BTS and is apart of the dance team (DanceRacha) for Stray Kids.
There is so much more about this song that people often don't understand because it's both an inside joke and it's very influenced by korean folklore. The korean name of the song is Sorikkun, sori being sound and kkun is a suffix that indicates profession or occupation. The sorikkun are traditionaly in korea those who sing Pansori (pan meaning place with a lot of people, so the name itself informs you that it's a traditional popular song). You can actually hear many typically korean instruments in the musical arrangements throughout the song and the style of Changbin's rap at the beginning of the song is reminiscing of the actual pansori sound. Also, the whole musical arrangement is purposefully excesive and both that and the lyrics are meant to laugh at the haters. They have been called noisy, trash music, loud, which is why they literally said "I'm not sorry I'm dirty, Keep on talking we don't play by the rules", and it is also the reason for the english title "thunderous", because thunder is noisy and loud. The actual album name is an anagram, it's called no easy which if you say it quickly it sounds like noisy. They have several songs calling out the haters, in fact Cheese's whole lyrics are a list of criticisms from the haters and them just laughing at them. On the other hand, the animations are meant to portray the kids as Dokkaebi which are mythological creatures from the korean folklore, similar to goblins, and are supposed to be invincible and protect humans from bad spirits but also are fun and mischiviuos and like to prank them. So in conclusion, this song and the whole MV are actually a masterpiece, and all of this came from the mind of guys who were barely starting their 20s by the time they made this
Omg I love this so much, the song and the beat is so catchy and I love the raps and vocals. For me Felix (my bias) just slayed his part. The choreo is on point like always and I'm just in love with the entire thing words can't begin to describe how I'm feeling about this song. This song is such a hype and really gets me dancing and singing/rapping along. Also it's with this song that Hyunjin joined Felix as one of my biases #StrayKidsWorldDomintion
This song uses a lot of traditional Korean things. Their costumes, choreography, buildings, and musical instruments. The title of the song is "Thunderous" in English, but the title of the song is "sorikkun," which is often played in Korean lyrics. Sorikkun is an old Korean word for people who sing well and get excited.
Loved your 2nd reaction to stray kids. I would highly suggest the mini 3 min movie trailer for Oddinary and react to title track Maniac m/v, Lonely St. m/v, Venom m/v and Freeze m/v, and their recent Japanese title track Circus m/v. These are from this years earlier album Oddinary and Stray Kids are getting ready to release their 2nd mini album for this year called Mazident. They have a mini movie trailer that you will love. You will love the music videos they are like food to the soul.
Love all of them and all of thier songs they are amazing and extremely good i love thier voices and their eyes and i just love everything about them who doesn't
I liked your reaction video! 3racha, the producer subunit in Stray Kids, love adding those "candies" in their songs. It's one of the little things I love hearing, like musical easter eggs. Hope you listen to more of their songs in the future, have fun! :)
I just wanted to add something real quick: they do produce 99.9% of their songs, but they don't choreograph it, although they do have some input on it (I think this should be said cause even though I love them, we should recognize the dancers and choreographers behind it). Also, what they do with the songs it's that, usually, the 3 of them will do the first version of it by themselves (writing, composing and first arrangement), and then the final version (for the final arranging) they'll have the help of (usually) one other person (most times a guy named VERSACHOI, which still means a lot, cause most groups have another three to five names on the credits, while they only have one person to help do the final touches. (though in the songs on their official ytb channel, not available on albuns, they are 100% arranged by BangChan)
Your reactions are so fun! I don't know much about music production so it's really cool to hear your perspective on it! And to watch you become a fan of Stray Kids too, they quickly became one of my favorite groups with how dynamic and fun their music is!
Loved your insight! One of my favorite backing tracks they have ever made is for DOMINO, it doesn't have an actual music video (only for a short preview) but it's one of their most streamed songs and I would love if you could react to it! I personally recommend the English version, it's top tier
I'd suggest Back Door next! Time Magazine ranked it in their top 10 songs of that year (2020). None kpop song have had reached that list in YEARS before SKZ! Fun fact but still impressive
Bang Chan (the leader of the group and one of main producers of this song) would probably enjoy watching this reaction. And he might actually see this.. he watches a lot of reactions in youtube ^^
They don't do all of their own choreography, maybe a little input there, but that's it. Still impressive that they are self-produced in other aspects :)
You should definitely have a look at drunk-dazed by enhypen!! It's definitely one of their most interesting concepts and noises that happen in the song!! Especially with such a difference kind of music it is to stray kids!!
If you really love Felix’ voice, you should really check out ‘Taste’. It is the DanceRACHA unit song and gives him a lot more space singing and rapping, compared to their title songs 😊. And it is a really Nice pop song as well.
I’m sorry people were unnecessarily rude in the comments. There were comments on your prior video that absolutely talked about choreography. SKZ has choreographers. SKZ have input into the choreography and have made several changes and adaptations to the choreography. What people are mainly talking about are the two main dancers uploading dance videos. Hyunjin has 2 full self choreographed dances and Lee Know co choreographed and co performed a dance. These are all available on their SKZ Player channel 😊
So for reactions I highly recommend watching a guide video for them to help get to know who everyone is and most give good song recommendations. I would also recommend watching their pre debut song “Hellevator” to help understand how much they’ve grown both vocally and production wise. I also recommend checking out some 3RACHA (Bang Chan, Changbin, Han) songs. 3RACHA Is the production team of stray kids and was originally a pre debut rap unit.
Venom or Maniac By Straykids is also nice… but which Song of theirs isn't? 😂🙏✨ Freeze, Venom, Maniac, Winter falls, Cheese, Back door, Red Lights, Miroh, Levanter, … and so much more to react. But be prepared for their new Album on 07.10.22. MAXIDENT.
This isn't Stray Kids but I definitely recommend checking out TAN, PIXY and KINGDOM!! As of writing this comment TAN has DU DU DU, Louder, Walking On The Moon, and are having a comeback on October 12th (but we're unsure what the song is called yet). PIXY has (in order) Wings, Let Me Know, The Moon, Addicted, Moonlight, Bewitched, and Villain. Finally, KINGDOM has Excalibur, Karma, Black Crown, Ascension, Promise (The Song of Dann), and have their next comeback called Long Live the King on October 5th! I have playlists for all of them on my page including Stray Kids if you're interested, along with many other groups!
Let's get this straight, they DON'T do the choreography for their songs. 2 of the members made choreographys for their personal projects, but that's it. Let's give credit where credit is due.
Wow geez that was unnecessary. No one was discrediting any on purpose. 1 member self choreographed two full choreography pieces and another member co created choreography for a piece with additional dancers, yes those are facts but it could have been said just like that without being a jerk about it.
So what is up with the animation u ask? We’ll in k pop groups tend to have a story line and the concept of the story has to do with what the songs mean and talk about, sometimes these stories can be of vampires like Enhypen’s story line, but there are many many concepts to choose from. So yeah the animation even like at the beginning has to do with that, it’s all supposed to portray the idea of like “finding a way together out of the ordinary” kind of thing if that makes sense
I’m sure they have some input into the choreo but they do not choreograph their own dances. Dance company MOTF are some of the choreographers Stray Kids have worked with.
mm actually stray kids don't create their own choreographies. they are insanly talented artist but that fact's just wrong. although some of the members do create choreographies, they don't do it all themselves. just wanted to make that clear :)
No Kpop group does their own choreography, suggestions/contributions yes, but not the entire MV. It's too competitive as you always need to have something new and fresh.
