I used to watch a bunch of different music promotion youtubers until I realized that they’re just good at making me feel like I’m progressing, but in reality I wasn’t learning much and wasn’t progressing much either, but after discovering your channel and watching a lot of your videos, I’m positive that now I understand exactly what to do in order to find success. I'd love to know more about Metal and Punk, specifically Djent and Pop-Punk because that's what my band works with! I'd also appreciate more info about Pop as we also fall under that and I think most people would love to learn how to break into that type of world, regardless of genre.

My music falls under the Indie DIY. Would be really interested in a video about how to build a traditional radio promotion campaign for an indie DIY project. To whom would the money actually go for that $2k budget radio promotion campaign example you gave? Does this campaign usually involve building lists of college/commercial radio stations and paying for placements? Want to better understand how a radio campaign works and how ROI would be measured!

AHHHH THIS IS the video I’ve been needing! I’m trying to learn the Electronic scene in my area and have found a couple of consistent nights that fit my micro-genre. I’d love it if you went deeper on the EDM genre - particularly best practices to find and reach out to music publications like Dancing Astronaut or YourEDM for premiers/write-ups/features.
Get a good PR company like listen up, if you pay you can get on any of those, or sign with a big label that has those same connections and they'll do PR for your releases.
The best thing for premieres on Dancing Astronaut or YourEDM or even our site Data Transmission is 1. checking they are actually uploading your music as loads of electronic music scenes have gone very niche, then i would go on Linkedin and find the editors of those blogs, you will need to pitch to them 3-4 weeks in advance at the very least if you can do it earlier then. We book our premieres 4 weeks in advance. Features & Write-ups about again have a good relationship with the editors, i would deffo suggest by getting placements on their playlists first, then premieres, then mixes, then features. If you have a big label behind you, then you can skip some of those steps as you might have a bigger publicist to pitch to the editors. if it's your first release, then i would deffo build up the ladder through the channels which will support your music and build up to bigger ones as there are literally hundreds of channels that can upload your music and premiere or feature you. Finally, submit hub can be good for hitting blogs for reviews for a small fee. But again depends what label you are signed too or what heat you've built on your track by social or DJ support.

@@diegothepokemontrainer you should check out my friends at When We Dip and Soundspace then too for that music. Most of these channels look at label releases as we all like the push of that label too. We’ve promoted a few self release tracks but not many, but I feel that will change in the coming year. Depending on the techno it’s the more raw peak time, Detroit or acid techno then we have a channels on RU-vid and SOUNDCLOUD called NUDE.

Each platform like Insta/tiktok/RU-vid etc has their own algorithm/ way of doing things and I’ve always struggled to know how to balance it all and do a daily post for everything. Thank you! :)

You not only have useful and new information, but you actually look and act like a big time guy at a label- with that hat you always wear and you don’t try to be a young person and be hip or cool, and always about business… so don’t worry about the losers who give you shit… sometimes they just don’t realize their music sucks and that’s why things don’t work out for them. Any cheat codes for reggae ? I used to play in reggae bands and it was helpful playing local gigs. We got to know all the DJ's and sound systems in the city and played lots of gigs and had fans. We played all over the country doing festivals but it never seemed to help and cost a fortune in travel costs.

Sound advice sir. At the end of the day, if your music is 💩 then it doesn’t matter how you market it, people won’t be interested. Sadly most people believe their music is amazing when it isn’t.
