Im happy i took the time to learn ALL the bisness before releasing my music...4 years ago had a deal but the 50% scared the sh*t out of me but it forced me to dig deep to find out whats out there and its fun to be able to control your destiny...Theres never been a better time to be an artist...Making the music is prime but LEARNING THE BISNESS makes the difference!!!! Thanx for sharing!!!
With all due respect, 50% of zero is still zero. If you don’t even have music out then you don’t even need this information yet. It’s like trying to get an oil change for a car you don’t have yet.
@@Troll_the_Trolls put the music out and see if people even like it before you waste your time. With all due respect you might suck and people may not even like you or your music. Just saying. It happens this way more often then not.
@@Realdealsupaproducer well that is pretty bad way to play it seeing as if you have no business in place, no copyright no protection, and no way to make a penny from anything if you ARE popular then you have just got yourself into a mess. The whole point is to be self sufficient and we'll prepared from the start and build slowly. OK yes you need to test the water and see if people respond to your music if you have a viable business model with people willing to stream you or come see you play etc. My view is that I'm going to build it slowly and put focus on promotion then with everything in place, I am going develop the business steadily as I go.
Hi Songtrust, Just Wanted a clarification regarding the music publishing like I have recently created my record label and I wanted to setup my record label as a publisher as well. Also after registering with Songtrust would I have to share any percentage on relation with the royalties and does (BMI or ASCAP) can act as a third party in collecting the royalties on my record labels behalf.
@@songtrust because PRO's take 50% of your publishing wouldn't it be better for artists or record labels to create their own publishing companies and retain 100% of the publishing and hire SONGTRUST to do their collection or are the PRO's worth the 50%?
I listened this video for 15 min and didnt find an answer for a simpliest question - if i am independent, sell my own music for example only on bandcamp, spotify and etc, DO I NEED SOME PUBLISHER AND FOR WHAT?
Hi hi, wondering video i learned an absolute ton and feel alot more confident in all this now so thanks songtrust team! I have a quick two questions you say you take a flat 15% of the mechanical and publishers share, but is that 15% of the total combined or 15% from each? Also when you associate me with a PRO if i was to leave you guys(not that ide want to from what im hearing) but if i did would i still be associated with them? Thanks!
1:12:30 That question sounded like they wanna run away from what they signed to. I wouldn't sign them up if songtrust was my company, that question was so cheeky to all who make contracts and expect it to be fulfilled. .
then what's the point to have a collector when you have your CMO that doesn't cut 50%? keep you royalties and get a publisher who sell you music properly if you're being successful
Would having own label....publishing with asap n BMI.....my own songs but buy lease beats since I'm the rapper to my label........would it be better have own company for future growth...also paid for writing n maybe publishing deal
so am jamaica but youtube music is not available in the country. when you release music with song trust does it put your music on youtube also without having alot of watch hour on youtube music?
DITTOMUSIC says you need a masters license for replaying (replication, not sampling) elements of someone else's work in your own. Is there a course they can go on? They're giving terrible advice lol
THEY MONETISE RU-vid ONLY WHEN THE CHANNEL IS BEING MONETISE AND THE VIDEO HAS OVER 10.000 - ??? Of course you don't need song trust for RU-vid. Unless is quiet a famous songs with many accounts being viral... Your distributor can easily do that for less share and efficiency !
