The studio version was recorded with a children choir. So i guess they used that as a back track here. Epica and apocalyptica just finished a tour in Europe together. Rivers is an Epica song but here featured by apocalyptica, there is also a song by apocalytica recorded with Simone on vocals called Rise Again, that one they played live as wel, this is the link: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dCplcb8NaJA.html

Hello! Thank you for your response to this stunningly beautiful performance. in the second half of the song, where you hear a choir of voices - in fact, this is a children's choir and it sounds in the recording, it's interesting that some of the children of the group members participated in the recording of this choir 😁 the children's choir gives this song a special atmosphere. Originally this song is without cellos, but the guys from Apocalyptica have definitely made this song even better.

And not just any "solo vocalist". Simone's is voice bright and still sounds like warm honey. I love the way she sometimes retards her vocal timing. It adds drama I'm surprised NO ONE has talked about it.

Love the band! There is a acapella version to that is amazing. If you like this kind of music i would suggest Apocalyptica - rise again (ft Simone Simons)

I was at this show, so my phone was one of the lights in this video. The additional vocals are backing tracks. They have done many different versions of this song on their concerts, and one of them was an actual acapella version. They did record an acapella version in/for/from their pandemic stream, so odds are they used tracks from that here.

One of my recent favourite songs along with a stunning collaboration, both bands are brilliant to see live. The acapella version from OMEGA ALIVE is by far the best though

Epica don't write songs, they compose capital letter Music. You should react to more from them, because they really are unique in their musical abilities. Always go for their official live videos, they are impeccably mixed every single time for maximum clarity so you can hear everything going on, and it's usually a lot more then here in Rivers. I found your sensory experience of being immersed in water swimming for the surface apt, because the lyrics of the song reflect that sentiment.

Epica record backing tracks in the studio with live musicians and choirs for their albums and use the same tracks for their live performances. Simone doesn’t like doing backing vocals so they have other singers/choirs for backing vocals, again, pre-recorded in the studio. The exceptions were 2008 for the Classical Conspiracy and again for their 10th anniversary Retrospect show in 2013 where they used the same live orchestra and choir on stage. You would have seen that if you reacted to Sancta Terra with Floor.

Good reaction. Was lucky to be live at this concert. They sadly only did this song together. The concert had 2 parts. The first part was Apocalyptica, great band. The second was Epica, one of my favorite bands. The backup singing was probably track. Simone, the singer from Epica, does not like doing backup vocals. They always use backup singers in their songs. Thanks for this reaction.

They usually play with a backing track of a full choir and additional orchestra elements. I don’t think Simone does any backing vocals, they just have choir singers that blend really well with her. Thanks for the great reaction!

No extra bodies on stage, so backing tracks almost certainly. I saw them on this tour, although Apocalyptica were headlining at this point, so we got Simone joining them for their song "Rise Again", which you should totally do next (the LIve in London version). Cello heaven and a beautiful vocal line.

Apocalyptica is an old band from Finland. They were up and running about same time that Nightwish was too. They have collaborated with some huge names in pop/Rock/Metal. They are really good Cello players.

Apocalyptica got pretty famous for their string (4 cellos) arrangement of Metallica's "Enter Sandman" in the 2005 period, and toured festvals extensively. Check it out.

On the end you talked about conducting and how they (Epica) doing this. In this case I will recommended their 10th year anniversary concert, because I think that’s the ultimate combination of Band, Orchestra and Choir. Imho Simone get better and during the time. We European are lucky because of the long story of music.

I love your reaction. More metal please :) If you are music teacher then you should react Therion - fathers of symphonic metal. Maybe their "Via Noctorna" for beggining (album version)? Trombone player Then you have no choice but to react Dimmu Borgir`s "Mourning Palace" Wacken live (symphonic black metal band). You`ll find best trombone player`s cameo in metal show ever. EVER!!!

I don't like how you barely talk about the singer and the band who is the main focus here. Epica is the one who wrote the music, Apocalyptica merely collaborated since they are touring together. Simone is not just a singer.
