Lovely old cd player. Looking forwards to seeing what you can do with it.

But you are not squeezing anything out of the "digital" of the CD player when using an external DAC. What you are doing in that case is simply using the CD player as a transport and bypassing the internal DAC of the CD player all together, as is the case with every digital out of any CD player. So the question is then how good a transport is in the Marantz and whether any external DAC you use re-clocks the data stream. Those old Marantz had a great design, hope you keep it :)

hi I totally agree with y you when a quality decision connected you benefit from the better quality analogue output stage this stage is very important

I also want to see what an outboard DAC can do to my Onkyo cd player c7030. The problem is that the onkyo uses a common chip and so do many DACS, that may end up sounding similar. I just ordered a Schiit multibit DAC, but it hasn't arrived. We'll see. Good vid.
