Great HARDCORE mods here. 🤘 You lot really bash'em to death. R.I.P: to those who powered up their speed controller without waiting for the epoxy to cure for at least 24 hrs. (Even the fast set). Let it cure 100% (2 days is worth it) before powering up or it may still be conductive. (Priceless experience speaking here... OK maybe $60) Same goes for RTV silicone or other potting compounds. (One more set of parenthesis for good measure).
That's a very good point and hadn't even though about it as always let is set for 48 hours before i do anything to it, like the resin to set properly, have pinned your comment 👍👍
@@Playstation5-d9u The radio signal is picked up by the receiver. The receiver tells the steering servo to move. It also tells the electronic speed controller (ESC) to use battery power for the drive motor. The ESC needs to be good so it can accelerate, stop and reverse smoothly. Dave’s keeps working loose because he beats the heck out of it.
Thanks - we run the Max6 and 1650kv motor in the Kraton EXB, only thing really stopping it running was the mesh was knocked out, servo was dead and rear tower to tower brace cup was snapped. Not to bad from landing from that height onto concrete
I'll never understand why people abuse an r/c like this. Why not just throw them off a bridge or take a hammer to it. Build challenging track with modest jumps that will challenge your skill set.
Everyone has different things they enjoy, if we all liked the same things the world would be a boring place, most of the time the cars come home undamaged, throwing off a bride or taking a hammer to it would always cause damage, part of the fun it testing skill to be able to jump and land correctly, driving round a track is a totally different skill and is fun in a different way.
@HardcoreRC I stand corrected and couldn't agree more with you. Ultimately we're all in this hobby for smiles 😃 and my crass comment earlier was uncalled for...keep your finger on the throttle that's where mine will be soon (hopefully).
Its more power than the Max6 we had in the car with the messed up Caps, it is a fine line between having a thumbnail that makes people click and also them then watching, high click through rate and low retention is not good, but then high retention and low click through is also not good

@HardcoreRC Well, ok if you put it that way. It has indeed more power than a busted max6...
BIG QUESTION.... Xmaxx cogs really loud....18/54 stock gears....pins in "letter I" position....pinion presses hard against spur gear.. Tried spacers, washers to jack up motor mount but washers make work their way thru plastic....I have HR aluminum motor mount with pins.....annnnnny suggestion what to do or just drive the uggerduggermothetrucker till the tumble wumbles fall off??????😂😂😂😂 stock plastic mount is no different neither
I have not tried 54/18 so not sure if there is a mesh issue with the pins, i have heard people say on the bigger gears the pins dont work, so you could remove the pins and use these to set the mesh manually: www.modelsport.co.uk/product/traxxas-x-maxx-aluminium-motor-mount-washers-blue-anodized-406027 Other option is to make sure nothing is bent, had a similar issue and took me ages to work out that my Hot Racing spur was actually egg shaped
@@HardcoreRC I got the washers in there already and but I don't bash it ....it's just like that tight normally out of box ...nothing's bent...cush thing may be wore out...
@@redblue40rc33 What i mean is to remove the pins and set the mesh yourself, easiest way to do that is a piece of paper between the sput and pinion then tightne up the screws
@@HardcoreRC it doesn't work without pins either ..it's just a tight fit either way...I'll just run it till it grinds gears to a perfect fit...I'ma do a Kevin Talbot on it... 😂....tell him I said hello... 😂
Great video Dave as always thanks for showing that fan mod will definitely do this to my rigs and thank you for looking at are channel I would like to say are channel is run by my self Chris and my mate Gavin the big monster motor with all the mods is Gavin’s xmaxx and my xmaxx is the stock keep them vids coming top work hardcore
@@HardcoreRC thanks hardcore means a lot we have a great little rc family going on and we are just trying to have fun and build are channel 1 sub at a time looking forward to your next vid 👍
I have the max 10 and am having trouble finding a rocket fan that fits with the right connector. All the 25mm fans I’m finding have the wrong connection
Its fairly easy to change the connector, just by the connectors you need and then put the pins on with a pair of pliers, or you can get crimping tools that help. Sadly the 25mm fans do only come with those connectors
Sorry i cant answer as i dont really know anything about the VXL 4s ESC, i do know the Max10 is a solid ESC though and would say thats a safer bet, likely cheaper as well
Great tip HC Crew. Heads up for people doing this, Don't use JB Weld. It's conductive and will short your ESC. Using regular epoxy is perfect. I know a few guys who put JB Weld even after I warned them not to. They had a bad day. 😂
Jb weld epoxy? Or jb weld steel stuff. I bought jb weld epoxy because it had a higher psi strength. Haven't done the mod yet as I just seen your comment
@@HardcoreRC Thanks for the reply, I'll try to see what I can find. but unfortunately I still don't understand much about rc, I just started in this rc world this month😉
@@fernandobranco9590 Thats ok - if you google Max6 error codes you should get stuff come up that you can then match to the flashing you are getting, it will depend on how its flashing etc to what the error could be - like 3 flashes, 4 flashes etc
Yes its the V3 Max6, we have had both our limitless's and the big rock to over 100mph using a Max6 with the 1650kv (111mph) and 1100kv (112mph) motors all on 7s
@@HardcoreRC that’s awesome Dave my in infraction has the mmx8s with the castle 1520 1650kv motor and I got 130mph with it but there was more in it I had to stop because I ran out of road but my limitless has the v2 electronics in it out of my infraction the motor is the 2050kv with the Spectrum esc but I’m thinking of the max6 esc with the 2050 motor because my friend has the v1 infraction all stock with the max6 with the stock motor it’s the 2050kv blx and he got 112 mph so the motor can take it but it was hot hot but good for one good speed run then let it cool
@@samcourtrc6767 Max6 would deffo be the better ESC for sure, but for best speed run Castle is deffo the way to go, they just give out more power, the HW have to many safety features that cut the power, makes them good for bashing and mild speed running
@@HardcoreRC yes big mate ur right there well Dave it’s alway a pleasure to talk with you buddy thanks for the info ur a gentleman matey thank u again lots of love to ur family from mine
That first send was just amazing. I have all the electronics the Talion and for us the thing is just crazy fast and durable. The only real upgrade we did was the servo and this thing is beast. When the went on sale for Black Friday back in 2021 we bought two of them for $319 US. I mean only Horizon/Arrma does unbelievably awesome things for their Customers. Same thing for the Fire Team. It dropped to $399 a few months back. Just awesome!!
Thank you - sadly they only do those deals in the USA though, not to all their customers around the rest of the world, for example the Fireteam in the UK costs $880 Also not sure whats going on but a lot of the Arrma cars just went into discontinued status on their website
The Max6 does fit but you have to make your own mount on top of the receiver box, its is a bit over kill for the Big Rock unless you are looking to do speed runs with it, this is the ESC we use for our 105mph Big Rock
I'm running the stock spectrum and my Creighton 6s I know I could go a lot faster than the 13 tooth pinion I just don't want to overheat it I just bought the Mac 6 hobby wing ESC because my stock ESC and it burned out haven't even had the truck a month also had to replace the servo what seems to be a good car other than that I just want to be able to bash and go fast like the rest of you guys
@@michaelmontano2111 Dont try to go faster on the Stock Spektrum ESC, it will melt and could take your car with it, sounds like you have a Max6 ESC to replace it with, in which case you should be ok on 15 tooth pinion, just keep an eye on temps
You really dont want to see the condition my 1.3 yr old Mojave custom basher is in..😱😑 -if it goes fast and holds together, im happy. (really tough conditions in WNC. Rocks/roots, snow, mud/water etc) .. body stiched together with zipps👍 truck held together with hope❤😁
Not really a question of which is better as comes down the the application you are using the ESC in and the power demand of that car. the bigger the car the bigger the ESC. Max8 is really for 8th Scale, Max6 for 6th Scale, Max5 for 5th scale etc
@@HardcoreRC i ask because people say the max5 has more power than max6 I am new to the hobbies i trying to put the good combo in my outcast...i found the combo only whit the max6+1100kv or 800kv
@@Playstation5-d9u Its not really that it has more power, it can handle more amps, Max5 is rated to 200 amps and Max6 to 160amps, but at the same time the bigger ESC can not handle higher Kv motors, so you wont put a Max5 with a 2200kv motor as you would fry the Max5
Hey so I just bought a max 5 esc and since I got it it’s been flashing red light idk what to do I have steering and the sec fan is working the controller is brand new and receiver, i tried another controller and did the same thing so I really need help and when I tried to calibrate it when I’m in neutral position and hold full throttle to switch the next position I get no beeps
@@illhairacing3543 It could well be the reeceiver as pretty sure they have AVC built in, you may need to bind it again, have seen quite often thy dont come correctly bound out the box.
Great bashing session, guys. I love your bashing spot. I really wish I had such a spot near me where I live. Unfortunately, spots such as yours are too far from where I live. And also, great tip on beefing up the Max6.
i would highly recommend, these fans take a huge amount of abuse, and we have had the cups bow out of 3 max6 ESC until i started adding the Epoxy , just keep the resin away from the pins and dont get it down inside the cups
Hey David i was wondering how reliable is the max 6. Because my stock 6s firma esc burnt out after 1 and a half years in my kraton i want to switch to a max 6.
Max6 is very reliable from my experience, the only issue we have had is the motor cups getting pulled out on very hard landings or crashes - had happen twice, but they were hard landings, hence why we now add the epoxy
@@HardcoreRC thank you very much for your imput. Ive been seeing you and kev using the max6 for a while and thought i should try one. Ps. Ill never send it to the moon like you guys and kev. My original chassie is still straight haha
@@subyrick Personably i think the Max6 is one of the best ESC's you can get and would put it in all our 1/8 1/7th scale cars Main things is that you have fun no matter how hard or high you send it, everyone is different to what they do to have fun 👍👍👍👍
Nice! I have 2 question: 1. Are you using the stock wing mount? 2. I have a max 8 combo with 2200kv motor. If I upgrade to max 6 should I keep the motor or buy one with less kv?
We use the RPM Wing mount, boiled for 10 mins and left to cool in the water and then soaked in GT85 for 24 hours (WD40 also works) Max6 still works with the 2200kv motor so should be good, just dont try to run it on82 with that motor 😂
I did end up buying the max6 esc with a 1650kv motor running a 22t pinion. Loads of power and speed and for my taste the perfect spec for bashing. On hot summer days it still overheats sometimes but on normal days it’s perfect. If you go for the max6 I would also upgrade the motor because your stock motor will still overheat. I also heard that the max8 G2 is very good. It has more power and less overheating issues. What pinion are you currently running on? If you go for the max6, drill a hole in the top and put a small screw in, it keeps the fan alive.
@@HardcoreRC ugh.. yeah I had a bout with that a couple weeks ago.. sucks to be isolated.. lol.. I'm on the uphill my friend.. my health is finally starting to turn around so I'm happy with that my friend...
Not in a 1/8 Chassis man, massive overkill, Probably wouldn't fit anyway, The Max 4 is for the 1/4 - 1/5 Niche...The Max 5 fits but even then its overkill. Max 6 Gen 2 is the sweet spot for these chassis' or even the Gen 1 as seen here are excellent for all of Arrma's 6s line.
Same power from both, only way to up it would be to turn the ESC up toe 7.4v but then need a HV servo, seems to pump out plenty of airflow at the 6v though
@@HardcoreRC I found it was the same with my max10sct also I’ve seen a few others do it and a couple of mate do also If you just grab an extension from the receiver and try it to compare it just sounds different as well
