Join me for a detailed look at this Canadian army, Single meal, Combat ration - Beef & vegetable stew. It's been over 2 years since I last tried a Canadian ration and the packaging has changed slightly, but have the contents?. What will I find? Have the contents improved or worsened? Watch, as I describe the contents tastes, smells and textures.....What do you think?....Army Stew anyone?

Thank you very much! I was gifted one of these unopened rations. I really appreciate your explanation and example of how to enjoy this meal. I'm a back country canoe camper and I'm looking forward to using this ration to help me and the dog push further into the bush, where we go to fish for our meals.

Hello Mick!! Hope all are well. I love the IMP'S. More care put into them than our MRE'S. Good looking components. A lot of the newer IMP'S, have tortillas in them, instead of bread. Rumor has it, they are phasing the Pan out? The main looks hearty. High sodium? Rare. Awesome meal and review friend. I'm glad you ate well. Peace, John.

Hi John...Thanks for watching and commenting ..Oh No!...Don't tell me that, replace the bread with tortillas?...It should be the other way around!. I can see how 2 tortillas would be the cheaper option! but that's for a reason....They are far inferior!..... Unfortunately, that's what I'm now seeing in more and more rations....Economy over quality and quantity. More and more countries are less concerned with the troops well being and moral!... and more interested in saving money!...It's a problem that's bound to backfire in the future....ATB...Mick

I may have to find one of these rations just to try out the bread. It did seem like the meal had to much sugar in it for me. Nice outer bag to store the items you don't use. Have e great week !

Hi Scott.......Thanks for watching and commenting....Certainly give one a try. Make sure you load the bun with peanut butter & jam (or something savoury) and you will have to agree!....The best, "shelf stable" bread component of ration....ATB...Mick

I'm not a big fan of these IMP's, but that seems quite reasonable for a main course. Maybe my own resistance is partly due to the fact that, for example, coffee has already been told and made by the manufacturer how I should drink it, with cream powder and sugar. I would prefer to make those decisions on my own. (an old rebel)

Hi....Thanks for watching and commenting...Luckily, I do drink tea and coffee white, with sugar. So it's not a problem, but I fully understand. I have similar issue when most European rations come with just coffee and no whitener. Each to their own, but having separate components does make it simpler...ATB....Mick

I like the packaging that has that matte finish on them. Seems more substantial, but that may just be my imagination. REAL brand does it in the Norwegian Arctics.

Hi....Thanks for watching and commenting....Absolutely agree!....Black pepper would have helped dumb down some of the salt and also enhanced the stew a little....ATB...Mick
