This kinda screams "supplement this with with other things". Is very accessories heavy, not that much actual food, just mains. I guess the idea is that you take this single meal ration along with some supermarket food and use it as 24h ration, making use of esbit stove for other things, making use of toothbrush ect. So you get this throw in like 2 instant ramen packet and can of beans and call it a day.
"Real" in Norwegian means "Decent" and is Pronounced "Re-Al". The bottom of the pouch can be popped out to provide a bigger footprint and gives acess to the food hiding there, making the stirring easier and the spoon intact.
8:44: There is no known method known to God, Science or Norway to get all the moisture out of a sugary substance by lyophilization because the sugar affects the boiling temperature of water and you would have to heat it to a temperature that would kill the taste and defeat the purpose of lyophilization, which is to preserve the food as natural as it was. So purely natural energy drinks made by lyophilization will always be sticky. But in return they taste exactly like what they are; natural and real.
I'll tell you this; lyophilization is the future. The energy requirements and the time it takes makes it expensive, but in return it removes all food loss and I believe that compensates, particularly considering the weight loss. Just last week, I had a steak that had been stored in room temperature for nine years and after half an hour of soaking in water, I cooked it and it tasted just like an industrially frozen steak. Lyophilization even has the potential to be used as an energy battery for the grid, which will makes it even more efficient. I truly believe that this technology is more revolutionary than the home freezer.
Isolated, this is a great ration. But compared to the old, boxed style 24h German ration this is honestly a shame :(. I did not expect Germany to go down this route... I have 1 boxed style 24h Einmannpackung left that I'm bringing with me on a future trip to a forest, I shall savour and enjoy every bit of it as much as I can!
Another great review! I may not comment a lot but just so you know I plan to watch all your videos, in due time. I tend to enjoy them with a meal, maybe it sounds weird but it's nice to enjoy a meal alongside you while watching! I've already watched quite a lot of them and I must say I love your style as I said in a previous comment. I must say this one was not impressive, quite a few items that have gone bad, not great on the drinks provided. Can't be fun for the people who are being issued these and older rations to this day. I say not impressive because I honestly think these items should've been edible still, and I think the ration is small considering it is meant to account for 24 hours for a fully active soldier.
Absolutely fantastic, thank you. Will be getting myself an adapter asap. I do wonder whether measuring is necessary if you know how many cans go into a can, if you know what I mean?
@@FergusCarr Hi..thanks for watching and commenting..If you know the receiver canister is totally empty you can get away with just knowing how much gas is in the donor can. But i often refill half empty cans, to make sure i have a full one for camping. In that case you do need to weigh the receiving canister to make sure you dont overfill...ATB..Mick
@@MichaelGreenReviews I’ve literally just put it to the test myself and managed to put 172g isobutane/propane from a gas eurohike cartridge into the campingaz cv470+. I did find there to be some waste when pushing the can on and it spurting out. About 45g which is a fair amount. And I don’t think it was able to get the last 10g (which seems to have stayed in the donor cartridge) Also, it took bloody ages. But it did work, so thank you. Edit: I used the little brass nipple type adapter, I think I’ll get one of the ones with the translucent tube. Would be good if there was an adapter that converts the canister to twist lock campingaz directly like the screw thread
@@MichaelGreenReviews I live on a canal boat so I don’t have a freezer. But I did put it in my ice box for 10 mins and it did make it quicker. I also managed to hold it on more securely and made a more efficient transfer. I got 209g across from a 227g canister. Which is much better. I do wonder whether an adapter from canister to screw lock then an adapter from screw lock to twist lock might mean I can connect the canister directly. Also really wierd I just can’t get the last 15-20g out of the canister.

Great video! Can you not get an adapter that would screw onto the coleman canister and convert this to the camingaz type? Instead of refilling you could just but the cheaper coleman ones?

Looks like a very impressive breakfast menu. As you say it is disappointing that the panzerplates are still in there, and for me personally I'm not a fan of sesame bars, 2 of them seems a little weird.
I had a similar reaction to the Spanish MRE's I had recently. Things seem a bit backwards and difficult, for no good reason. And other things seem to make no sense at all like the cocoa drink thing and the horrible hydration mix, why in the world do they not put the hydration mix with a proper drink mix? I found the honey to be metallic, weak in taste and difficult to get out of the pouch. I personally dislike the gel they provide for disinfection, I would much prefer a proper wet wipe. I cannot comprehend why they provide 30 GRAMS(!!!) of sugar packets?? Extremely carb heavy with not much real food in the breakfast one I had as well.
Terribly sorry to hear about your health issues. I know that unsolicited advice is not fun to receive but I have to say that I recommend you look into keto, it can basically reverse diabetes and help with other health issues. Never seen the package de-laminate like that before on a Norwegian ration(I've seen many of them, old and new). I can only guess storage conditions is the cause.
At least this one has instructions. Powderfull breakfast. Lol The honey looked like a pain to get out. A bit disappointing and sticky. As long the chocolatespread is good... You had a toothbrush in it? All the best, Kaat
Most Norwegians prefer their coffee black. There's of course exceptions, but they're rare, at least outside of the cities where people often like fancier coffees.

Too bad that coffee had gone bad. This rarely happens in a relatively fresh package, which is well wrapped in plastic. But based on the chocolate, that packaging has received a lot of heat at some point. I'm not a big fan of poultry pâté. I myself prefer pork pâté. But, that rice pudding is good. Definitely one of the best MRE desserts.
Hi.....Thanks for watching and commenting....The coffee was a surprise. But it was a cheap, basic brand compared to the branded ones found in the 24h packs. The French rations are also poorly wrapped in that very thin plastic wrap, which offers very little protection from damp or wet conditions. The main meal was good though and I would happily buy one again for personal use....ATB...Mick

These single meal packs are exercise meals so I assume things like hot water will be made available to the troops....If you do crack yours open...let me know what you thought about the meals...hope you enjoy!...ATB....Mick
