Join me for part 2 exploring this expired, Czech Army, 24 Hour combat ration. Today we will take a detailed look at the lunch and dinner components. What will I find? Will the contents still be edible two and a half years past its expired dates? Watch, as I describe the contents tastes, smells and textures.....Would you risk eating this?....I did.

Very cool Mick. I am behind on posting my Czech Breakfast. I have been under the weather again. Your components , ( well most, LOL ) , look good. Let's see how they taste? Hi.. Thanks for watching and commenting...Overall it was a nice, easy set of meals that worked well despite its age. The pasta and beef had a strange flavour? but that was a personal thing. The food itself was good....ATB...Mick

Considering how old those components were, it looked like a pretty good meal. You definitely had maybe 3 or 4 of your 5 a day in that 1st meal lol. I wouldn't have been sad to see those items in a ration. I wonder if the beef dish is a regional dish. It seems odd to put a sweet cinnamon taste to a savoury dish Great part 2, Mick :)

Hi Christine...Thanks for watching and commenting...A good mix of meat and vegetables that was nice to see. I hear tinned veg contain just as many vitamins and minerals as fresh (sometimes more, because they are canned faster than fresh can be sold in stores?) either way, more rations should follow suit with packs of just mixed veg to go with the meat dishes...and agree with the sweet cinnamon, must be a local thing?......ATB...Mick

I think that last one was goulash. Cinnamon and nutmeg are common spices in the traditional version of the dish.

Hi.. Thanks for watching & commenting... It must be a reginal / traditional thing as you suggest. Many rations contain a goulash, but with the many varied recipes, I have not come across this flavouring before. Many thanks for the Info......ATB...Mick

The jams seemed to be well sealed. But it's better than, for example, in Russian MREs, where usually the package of the chocolate spread has opened during transport.

Cinnamon sugar flavor in the paste does not sound like something I would want to eat. Maybe that's a common spice for the Czech people.

Hi Scott...Thanks for watching and commenting....Agreed, Not a flavour I enjoyed. To me, just not a spice I expect to find in a Tomato based sauce. The meal itself had stood the test of time well though...ATB...Mick
