Join me for part 2 of this "Dutch Army" out of date, 24h, combat ration review. Known for their huge size and quantity of components, how well did this ones lunch and dinner components stand the test of time? Sitting around my stores for over 5 years, and exceeding its best before dates over 4 years ago! Did the lunch and dinner survive good enough to eat? Watch, as I find out and describe their tastes, smells and textures....7 year old Liver pate anyone??....

Thanks Mick for the tip regarding the black line. One to remember. The fruit biscuits are the best.

Hi Jon....Thanks for watching and commenting....Yes, I will look out for the line on pate tubs in future too. After removing the chocolate, the loss of the biscuits fruit from British rations was the second biggest mistake they made in my opinion. 2 real comfort foods (for serving troops away from home) no longer found in ORP's.....ATB...Mick

Hi....Thanks for watching and commenting...luckily no ill effects and only the pate that had become a little, shall we say, "Funky". Despite my poor storage the main components survived quite well....ATB....Mick

Very cool Mick! Hope all are well. Most food seems solid. Some glitches in the Matrix, however. Nice food. I think you mostly ate well. Age makes A difference, like us, LOL. The pate is usually A good sign of A meal. Agreed. I never considered, or thought about, Mentos packaged like medicine? The majority of both meals, seem to be okay. We take the good with the bad, as in life sir. May your health stay good Michael. Nothing but good thoughts for you here. Look for an unboxing tonight, unboxing only, French RCIR. Interesting mains. Reviews to follow. God Bless, I forgive you blokes for the 1776 episode. Other than that, we get along well. Peace from across the pond, John. Always A friend. Take care sir.

Hi John...Thanks for watching and commenting.....Overall most items survived (just) but that's probably my fault, as much as the manufacturers, in that I didn't particularly look after this one. Still, its good to find out how they last with less care taken with storage. Unboxing sound interesting my friend! I shall look out for that...Have no idea what happened in 1776?....We were still too busy ruling half of the Known world at that time to worry about a small misunderstanding about a little known wilderness ..lol...😃👍....Take good care of you and yours my friend!...ATB...Mick

Surprised it didn’t last. I’ve been eating out of a British ration that ‘expired’ in 2019.

Hi...Thanks for watching and commenting... I'm certain the storage conditions go a long way in keeping them edible, and I hadn't really took much care of this one. I did review a 1978 US ration a couple of years ago and about half of that was still edible.....ATB...Mick

All the drinks packets feels compromised is cause it's fill to the top.. I've tried this ration b4 n when i touched it, i thought it was compromised since like u said it was all clumpy.. Little did I know, it was filled to the top n feel dense... How i store all the contents is by placing wet items in the freezer n dry items in the fridge.. I just thaw the wet items whenever i feel like eating it

Usually a person learns from his mistakes and remembers it after just one time. In this case, it took three times with the paté, and I'm not sure if the same thing would happen again. 🤢

Hi...Thanks for watching and commenting....Lol....Story of my life I'm afraid.....If at first you don't succeed, try, try and try again!....Unfortunately, I often fail the time after that too!...😂....oh well, what don't kill you ....makes you stronger! (if it don't poison you first!)...😂👍...ATB...Mick

7 years out of date seems to soon for the ration to go bad. Maybe the Dutch army does not load up the components with preservatives like other rations. Hope you don't get sick from this one.

Hi Scott...Thanks for watching and commenting...To be fair it was mainly the little foil covered tubs that were inedible. The pates, and surprisingly, the Jam were very risky. The rest of the Items could be eaten, just showed age. Also, stored under "controlled" conditions may have helped it further?. This one had experienced the heat of summer (up to 35C) and the coldness of winter (down to -5 or 6C) so was hardly stored at Ideal conditions....ATB...Mick
