Join me for a detailed look at this Norwegian Army, "Arctic" field ration. These rations are designed to keep the Norwegian army, fed, warm and comforted while out in the arctic weather. Watch, as I describe the contents tastes, smells and textures. What do you think?...Would this "Do The Job" of keeping you feeling warm, fed and comforted?.....or would you be left feeling cold and demoralised?....What do you think....

I love in your videos when you bring out the bowls. I quote “ Because I have, and because I will “ absolutely genuine. I can't say enough how I admire you consume the mains and give an accurate taste test. Very good friend. I can see how your time with Britains finest of service men you produce great videos. 👍👍

Hi Daniel...Thanks for watching, commenting and the kind words.....I always try to give a detailed (and honest) description of the meals I'm trying. Obviously, I can only go on my own tastes (and others tastes will vary) but I think most people would agree with my descriptions if trying them. I am always aware that they are meant to be for service men and women while out in the field (or conflict zones) and reflect if they would be a moral boost (or disappointment) at that time. Being an ex serviceman (with active service experience) I can reflect how they would be received by troops on the ground...... As such, I say as I find....Even if this sometimes upsets....but viewers can be sure....If I say it's good...then its good!...Likewise, If I say its bad....Its pretty bad!...LoL....ATB...and many thanks again for watching....Mick

I haven't had menu 10, but I've had a few of the Norwegian Arctic rations. Everyone I've tried has been good Very filling and great tasting food. That filled tortilla looked so much better than the FS equivalent. The bread to filling ratio seemed perfect. Great review Mick. :)

Hi Christine...Thanks for watching and commenting...I always enjoy the Norwegian field rations. The filled tortilla was a surprise that I wasn't expecting. It contained more filling (and was better tasting) than first strike sandwiches but I'm not sure it fitted in well with its massive chemical content? It's great to have the low chemical, freeze dried meals and it just seems a shame to ruin a "clean" meal with that chemical factory sandwich?....Maybe I'm just being to picky in my old age?...lol....ATB....Mick

@MichaelGreenReviews You're not being picky lol. I totally agree with you over a preservative laden item in what is a very natural ration for the most part. I guess every now and then, even the Norwegian soldiers crave a bit of junk food. ;)

Definitely a great looking meal, amazing how much water was needed to rehydrate that main. Good to see you sir!

Hi...Thanks for watching and commenting. I have reviewed all of the Norwegian rations now and think this menu took the most water to rehydrate? Once hydrated, it didn't look appetising, but like most of the other menus, it tasted great and is a warming stomach filler....ATB...Mick

Hi Mick, a very good review, again! I also tested (or tasted) a Norwegian Army Ration two years ago on a hike in the Austrian Alps. This was the Chicken Tykka Masala... for my taste very salted and two much pepper... cheers, Joe from Germany

Hi.....Thanks for watching and commenting. From what I remember the Norwegian idea of a "Curry" is nothing like the UKs interpretation of one. The perfect example is their "Cod in creamy curry sauce" More like Cod with mashed potatoes in a buttery sauce?.... (but still my absolute, personal favourite in a Norwegian ration). They are excellent hiking rations though, with high calorie to weight ratios, making them a great light weight food source.....ATB...Mick

Nice review. In general, Norwegian packages taste good and are easy to carry in a backpack when hiking. One of the best MREs out there. My opinion is that it is a bad idea to bring a tortilla in those packages with a bucket of preservatives. In general, Nordic products are known for having few additives and being well produced. I have 14 of those packs on the shelf, and you just managed to pick one that I don't have. 😁

Hi...Thanks for watching and commenting. Agreed about the chemical ridden filled tortilla. Although it tasted OK, it is a shame to contaminate an otherwise low chemical ration with so many "E" numbers and preservatives. As you say, they are an excellent high calorie, low weight hiking ration. I used to regularly take them on my Welsh mountain hikes where there is plenty of filterable mountain water / streams....ATB....Mick

Eaten several of the Norwegian rations. Just use the fill line no need to keep adding water bit by bit

Hi..Thanks for watching and commenting... Unfortunately on at least 4 occasions I have used the fill lines and ended up with a wet, soggy mess. Most menus come out ok but for some reason others get ruined?...maybe factory issues with dry fill ingredients/quantity? But once in...you can't take excess water out. So I dont risk it anymore, especially when out camping with them. That said, This menu tasted great and would recommend it as a good hiking/ camping meal...ATB..Mick

@@MichaelGreenReviews I dont know which one you have had problems with. I just open the package, widen the bag a bit at the bottom and fill it once to the fill line. Stir well once then rest for 10 min. Works every time for me. Reason your flimsy spoon keeps breaking is because of the lack of water, it makes it to hard to stir. Ive had accidents myself breaking those but not as often as you describe. Been living for weeks on those in the norwegian army. Their are good in the start of an millitary exercise, but in the end they are so hard to eat unless your very hungry. I wish the Norwegian army had some non freez dried rations as well for summertime.

Michael if you're looking for a good utensil try the Canadian spork Bill ❤🇨🇦

Hi Bill....Thanks for watching and commenting...I've been on the look out for a Canadian IMP, here in the UK, for some time. The last one I reviewed was a 2016 menu and that came with a white plastic spoon. For some reason Canadian rations have become very rare (or very expensive) here in the UK? So I haven't been able to get hold of their newer sporks. I am still on the case and hopefully should be able to acquire one soon? I have seen the new sporks, and they do look like a good implement! Just have to find one!...lol...ATB...Mick

Don't have the lamb, but I have 4 Reindeer Stew Arctic rations and also bought a couple REAL meals on their own from varusteleka.com. When they still shipped food to the US.

Hi Mark....Thanks for watching and commenting. I haven't found a Norwegian ration I truly disliked. Obviously I prefer some menus over others, but I would quite happily eat any I was given. I can't say that about most other countries rations, including the UK ones which have one or two I don't like. It's been quite a while since I reviewed the Reindeer stew ration, but I'm sure I like it?....ATB....Mick
