Very cool Mick. Good to hear from you. As always, I agree our rations lack the quality of foreign rations. Correct on Combos. Some have cracker outside, some have pretzel outside. I prefer the pretzel coating. The sandwiches are dry, I know. The dairy shakes were recalled between 2006-2011, due to salmonella. No instances of problems since then. I still do not like the taste however, well, the texture. The breadsticks give me heartburn. Mr. Whippee ice cream, sounds like our soft serve ice cream at Dairy Queen here. I hope all are still well friend. I hope you and yours have an awesome Holliday season. Peace, John.
Ive had a few of the FS rations and the sandwiches are the worst. Dry and very bad filling to bread ratio, as well as tasting pretty rank. Considering the lack of drinks with the FS rations they really should give something else instead of those rotton sandwiches. Everything you had for that first meal was thirst provoking. I dont understand why people pay so much for the FS rations, most of the items are pretty bad. Anyway.. lol Great review as always Mick. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!
Hi Christine...Thanks for watching and commenting..... The first meal, being mainly sweet, was a little better (but unfortunately the savoury stuff was pretty bad or tasteless). I can only assume when used on deployment most of the contents end up thrown into the bushes. I fully understand the principle of shelf stable, eat on the run, high energy and light weight but I'm certain this could have been done better with the eye watering defence budget the US has?.....ATB & Merry Christmas....Mick
Yea, that sandwich didn't look so good. I would not be happy with this ration for 24 hours. Seems like almost all of it was low cost junk food. Thanks for the review.
That sandwich looked really pathetic. I bought a few of these sorts a few years ago as a collectible. Don't really feel the need to taste these things. My Jack Russells will scarf them down eventually.
