Hi....Thanks for watching and commenting. I often take ration packs away for camping, hiking and caravan holidays. I'm lucky in that I get time to go away on my own, with my wife or with grandchildren and all enjoy the fun of exploring the many varied meals. British rations are great but I like to take a mix, from different countries, for variety and mix and match experiments. Love the "feed the grandkids" energy drinks before sending them home...lol....I'll have to try that!...lol...ATB...Mick

Hi....Thanks for watching and commenting...To be fair, Black turtle beans are not that well used here in the UK either. They can be found (both dried and canned) in supermarkets but are not a favourite with most people? They are probably a cheaper and more cost effective bean for the manufacturer to mass produce the mains? They don't taste bad, but in these mains, they were a little over cooked....ATB....Mick

Hi John...Thanks for watching and commenting....A decent meal but would benefit from a few extras. Unfortunately I think the nougat bar was made by the same company as the French ones?. We have far better ones, often sold near the coast, but this was not one of them. Tea was great for an instant, I don't think there is a better "instant" tea out there!...Take care my friend...ATB...Mick

Hi...Thanks for watching and commenting..... The British Rations have never had any shelf stable bread, tortillas / wraps or plain crackers. Its a mystery to me why? because so many of their menus would benefit from it.....ATB....Mick

It would be great if the US and UK could get together, and collaborate, on Ration and MRE production. I think a mix of both countries components would make some tasty (and very enjoyable) combo's for the troops on both sides of the pond!...ATB...Mick

Ah. That's because never heard of a" Nato Standard" brew up. Milk and two sugars. ( white 2)You also get a "Julie Andrews" (White none) or a Whoopi Goldberg ( Black none). Often abbreviated to a Julie or a Whoopi. It's all in the pronunciation.

Hi...Thanks for watching and commenting...I served back in the late 80's and 90's (and saw a little active service). I think most are like me? I had to pretty much force them down to make sure I was able to keep the energy levels going. Adrenalin seems to take away your appetite, but you brain and training tells you you have to eat. So forced down it go's and most often cold with a lot of haste....ATB...Mick

Hi...Thanks for watching and commenting. The single meals do seem rare compared to the 24h packs? and to be honest, are about the same price as a 24h pack? (to a civilian purchaser) making them not as cost effective. That said, it is great to see what they contain and how they pan out as a single meal. I suppose being in the army is about "roughing it a little" so the brass don't care if you take sugar (or whitener) and are more interested that you get the full calorie count needed to see you through the 8 hour period? ...ATB....Mick

Personally, I'm more used to sour and sour tastes than sweet ones, the same with coffee, that I prefer to drink it black rather than with creamer and sugar. That's how I learned to drink it in the army, when there was only black coffee available during the week's trips.

Hi...Thanks for watching and commenting...Luckily, the biscuits browns are no longer found in every menu, but still appear...lol...When I served back in the 80's / 90's they were in every meal (and were told we had to eat them to keep us regular...if you know what I mean!).... So I still get that sinking feeling when I open a pack and find them inside...lol...ATB...Mick

Now the Soup pouches have gone it would make sense to go back to the older spoons?...I miss the biscuits fruit from the 80's. they were Garibaldi biscuits with a glazed wheat biscuit and proper raisins!...even the later ones with cinnamom were good. shame they went, but we still have oatmeal blocks....lol...ATB..Mick

This was a single meal pack, usually you are issued 24 hour packs containing 3 main meals and a large bag of accessories such as tea, coffee, whiteners and sugars all separate. 3 in 1 teas and coffees are an exception rather than the rule and appear mainly in single meal patrol packs such as this one....ATB...Mick
