FredFlix Good videos, brings back a lot of memories, I remember Saturday's, get up, eat breakfast, watch cartoons, then head out the door, I was very fortunate growing up, I grew up in very rural Louisiana, 80 acres, no cell phone, no computer, no iPad, nothing but the woods and a creek and just my imagination, all I needed, once again, thanks for the memories, keep up the good work, I subbed

Thanks, Otis Cobblepot. I was in a suburb and we all go out after cartoons and play baseball and jump in the creek. And then I read Marvel comics.

I would definitely stay up for that double feature...if I weren't 10 years old at the time (rats!)...I actually watched "The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms" last week (thanks for that, TCM!)...I'll have to look for "The Creature with the Atom Brain" - that's "must-see TV" for me...didn't recognize one of the cartoons on the schedule, though...the one with the characters hiding in the dark...

Great stuff. How about some from the early 1970's for those of us who were 1 in 1966. Also, just a suggestion, how about the openings from famous nights on TV, example; ABC - Friday nights in 1970-73, or CBS - Saturday night in 1972, or NBC - Sunday Night in 1973-74. Those three particular nights I remember the whole family watching from 8 pm until I had to go to bed at 11. In a few years, I was old enough to stay up and watch NBC's Saturday Night at 11:30. One last thing was Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom on in 1966. I know it was on in the Philadelphia area right before The Wonderful World of Disney if the local NBC station didn't have a football game on that late in the afternoon. Thanks for all your efforts. Keep up the good work.

Here in Philadelphia, where I grew up at, I used to watch Sally Starr's Popeye Theater on Channel 6 after school when I was in third and fourth grade that year. She had on the Popeye, The Three Stooges, and The Funny Company cartoons. I even talked Batman and Three Stooges talk in third grade and Popeye talk in fourth grade. I also sang along to The Funny Company theme song BBC as well.

I'm lookin at all these shows in color, and I remember we didn't even have a color set in 1966. In fact, there were only 3 on our street! Dad went out and finally bought a color tv in 1968. Like most of our neighbors, we had the one set in the living room. The whole family sat there and watched weekly favorites like Bonanza, Get Smart(one of my Father's favorites), and many others. Thanks Fred it was nice to take a trip back for abit.

On Saturday night, CBC in the early 70's ran the Bugs Bunny-Roadrunner hour from 6-7 pm, and Hockey Night in Canada at 7. Needless to say, that meant the whole family downstairs eating dinner off TV tables, starting at about 5:55 pm! Theme songs for both shows still send shivers up my spine---and that's a good thing!

I can't believe your parents would let you sit around all day and watch tv plus almost all night. Mine would have made me go outside to play and bedtime was always at 9 o clock on Saturday nights. Eight on weekdays and nine on Friday's. We got up bright and early Sundays and went to church. When I was little we always went.to my grandparents house for Sunday dinner as they calledthe noon meal. It was fried chicken with either rice or mashed potatoes and green beans and my grandma's home canned pickled beets and a desert. Usually my father's favorite, German Chocolate cake. I preferred her canned peaches.

This video reminds me that I was beginning to outgrow cartoons by Oct '66, when I was 12. Mostly because I was realizing that the quality of the newer toons was vastly inferior to the classic Warner Bros & MGM cartoons that I still loved. And I loved the primetime shows of the era like Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, Mission Impossible, Lost in Space, Batman and The Wild, Wild West. Oh how I loved those fantasy action shows! And the classic sci-fi & horror films. What I think I miss most was the enthusiasm for playing with my friends, watching TV with family & friends, outings to parks & the beach, drive in movies and on & on. The innocence & enthusiasm. I still enjoy my current friends & our activities, but it's just not the same.

I used to watch those Popeye cartoons too.And The Three Stooges. I liked Underdog too. I liked The Jetsons too they used to show The Jetsons on Boomerang and Top Cat and Space Ghost too. I loved Flash Gordon serials. My whole family watched ABC Wide World Of Sports. Then the news. Then at 7, we watched The Lawrence Welk Show if we were at my grandparents. y later father loved The Jackie Gleason Show. Mission Impossible was way past my bedtime for years. I was just three years old in 1966. Didn't Gilligan's Island come on Saturday Night back then? I thought the wife of the president of CBS was the reason they canceled it after 1967? Because she was told they were going to cancel Gunsmoke?

All the boys in my neighborhood just loved the action cartoons. Me? I enjoyed cartoons like "Super 6" and the funnier cartoons. (Remember "The Mighty Heroes?" - rope man, cuckoo man tornado man, etc. Funny!) But I especially liked the old Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies cartoons, and the Fleisher Bros. (Betty Boop and Popeye, etc.) cartoons from the 1930's. I just had to laugh at the old science fiction monster movies that managed to scare me when I was about five or six.

My sister and I would watch too and tried to imitate the wrestling. My sister is younger, but could still pin me down try to put the sleeper hold on me. It's so funny now as I look back on it. We could have really damaged ourselves if we really did all of that stuff the wrestlers did.

Interesting and totally useless trivia, Bud Collyer did the voice of Superman in two sets of cartoons: in the 1940s and again in the 1960s - The New Adventures of Superman. He also did the voice of Superman on radio too. The narrator from radio is the same one who narrated the cartoons in the 60s.
