keep in mind that they had to sail to that place first, it's not like they were instantly there so it would have taken travel time. and if scylla wanted her food alive and not rotting by the time they got there then that means keeping the sirens, who can kill everyone just by singing, alive. which means you'd have to have earplugs in for the whole days or weeks it takes to travel which would be complicated and dangerous for a multitude of reasons
