MX Sport Firmware Issue and Metal Detecting Hunt 

She Detector -- There are actually 3 firmware versions for the Sport. The first one had the problem you are describing; it is mostly in the multi tone modes where the recovery speed is slow. The second generation firmware corrected the tone smearing and recovery speed, and also reduced the max SAT level to 6. Previously it was at 8. This version also had a problem...the pinpoint audio is almost non existent. It will only give audio on targets that are approx 4 inches or less. There are a couple other small bugs in there; mostly the fading in and out of tones with the 8 and 20 tone modes and no modulation. The 3rd generation is the current firmware. It corrects the tone fading and the weak pinpoint audio, and also puts the SAT option to go to 8 again like the first version. I have the 2nd version and if I run in 2 or 4 tone mode, I don't have a problem except for the pinpoint audio being weak. I am debating sending mine in for the newest update but am going to hold off and see if they get everything finalized.

lol!! I know what you mean about the kiddos. When I'm at my hometown park they swarm in. I give in and let them take turns pinpointing, but when they start grabbing the detector and not listening to the"rules" I lay out I have to take em down. Kids are flying everywhere it's total mayhem! Another great and informative vid. It's rare you ever dig more treasure than trash, although it's awsome when you do! So don't get discouraged when it happens. Keep the vids coming and good luck on your next adventure!

I give myself at least an entire season to learn a new machine. Its important because you get more familiar with the machine you are using. Once familiar with them, you get better at finding the good stuff. Seems like a good machine. Keep @ it and HH !!

Dunno if MX7 has the same software / firmware from MXSport, but bot seem similar. I don´t have problems on the beach, even in hot rock layer. If you get a signal, just pass the coil twice...if the signal disappears during the second sweep, it´s just a false signal from the rocks. Solid targets sound different. Good in water too, but you must low the sensi to 3, or you´ll get an overload signal.

your town is very much like mine. Do a hunt in that park doing a tight perimeter around the basketball court. Especially directly behind the nets.

$.13 for the change jar!!!!!!!!! I was impressed the MX found that small sequin. It isn't much different than the piece of jewelry you tried in the garage. Sounds like a great detector. I am anxious to watch what you learn about the AT Pro. I am pretty sure that will be my next detector. Keep up the GREAT work.

Nice Video! I dig every target on a new machine, some small iron signals on the first hunt! Its the best way imo to get to know the machine. It's slow going at first but when you get familiar with the tone and target id combination its surprising how fast you can id the good stuff! I dig every signal above iron most of the time as I like to get the trash off the Beach. HH !

Hi,hows it compared to treasurepro on seperation? Does the mxsport feel balanced when sweeping? looks a tidy little md.great videos,well shot and edited. HH

I am still kicking around with my trusty Fisher 1236x2. It has no graphs,no bells or whistles,it does have noise cancelling and pin point. I finally found an old set of headphones that have the individual volume settings per each ear. It has the large jack that my detector only works with. I bought an adapter to try and work with the newer smaller jack,but it didnt work. I hate hunting play grounds without them because as soon as they hear it going off,I get crowds. I can tolorate a few for a short while but I have learned to just call it a day and go have an ice cream. I like to hit playgrounds on early mornings before the kids start showing up,and only on weekends at schools.

FYI (SD) small gold chains are harder to pick up . Silver is so much more a better conductive metal that's why it picked it up. I can usually tell if it's a silver by tones, so much cleaner sound . Need to make ya some testing samples of different sizes and shapes of different items that ya come across . I miss living in Fla. so I get to see it from your videos....thank you 👍🏻

Im just saying. Your doing a great job of testing the machine. None of the sites would give such honest and completed viewing of any machine. If you were to use a metal and a coin testing horizontally and vertical will the machine show both on the screen as two tones. . Use your imagination to do different things, like put it under the dirt or sand using different types of metals aluminum, steel, copper, gold, silver, nails ,screws. Thanks, HH GL & God bless

its sand dollar i watch a vidieo of a meteal detector guy in carolina that was using the mx sport with the up grade on beach, when he was in salt water he was able to increase his senitivity to 6 where ours yours and mine with out up grade cant go past 3, i will have to wait till i get mine back from white and see

if you get chance to use a minelab ctx 3030 it is awesome you can really hear different targets in the same hole it has awesome target separation GL+HH!!

Thumbs up as always, The MX Sport looks a great machine is it comfortable to swing? Recently I trialed out the Minelab ctx 3030, I was very surprised how good it was especially the swing stability and balance, it is pricey though. Great job dear always enjoy your vids, pegs and keep going!

just dig anything over a certain reading I say. signals can get fouled up .

Keep your oddity trash for bench testing other detectors.. like that gold sequin, one of each type of pull tabs, different nails, iron objects etc. Good stuff to use in a test garden. ;)

What camera/mic set up do you use?

For the two coin test you need to raise your coil up a few inches you're too close to the coins. That's why you get all the double beeps.

MXT family always was slow, you should try Garrett AT PRO.

How ya doin .with all the alluminum u dug now you know that even the best detectors will say its a gold ring but it could still be foil .its a real pain so most detectorists say dig it all .i say dig solid signals.but im super happy to not dig those pesky little hair pins screws and nails .when im doin an old house site i prefer to look for coins but man are there lots of nails around the houses.great vid hh

Isn't it frustrating that foil rings up gold? I find myself digging foil in hopes of finding gold. Oh well, they say 1 in every 10000 foil finds is gold. That rock looking thing looks like a piece of cast pipe. Thanks for sharing.

Watching now..wow 1st one! 45 minutes! I'll have to come back to finish. One reason why you want separate tones is you would think with a long travel tone it was a large item (normally junk) instead of two smaller good items like a coin spill! Also If two diff. items, one non-ferrous and one ferrous giving only the high or low tone you would think one large item..ferrous or non-ferrous.

That seems to be a issue where I go as well. For some reason kids like to follow me around to and "help" dig up the target. Thats why I like using my headphones. Even though I can hear most people talking, I can pretend that I don''t... Not trying to be mean, but Ive put in 8 years in the school district. I enjoy working with students, but when I want to go hunting, I wanna hunt.. Just saying... On the video, I really don't see much of a difference between the softwares. Maybe I would have to use the machine to completely understand. Have you found any silver or gold with any of the machines you use? Bryan, Vero

Let me first say that I was a part of the Development Team that worked with the Engineers. They actually came down to California to my Shop; transbaymetaldetectors.com and we went to the Beach. What you are doing in your Video initially with the Quarters Separated is going WAY too close to the targets and you were way too slow on sweeping across the targets resulting in Multiple Tones instead of the expected two. You also don't need a high sensitivity for such an initial test. After all your in the Air. I would have liked to see you place a Quarter and than a Nickel (High Conductor and Low Conductor). By the Transmit and the Receive coil so so CLOSE to the Transmit and Receive, you would achieve a more definitive result by raising it up to 2 or 3 inches were it just gives you ONE response on EACH Target.
