The MX Sport has a unique feature that can help you discriminate bottle caps using a combination of reject volume and your ears. Here's the trick!

Thank you for finally putting up a video that is of use. I really don't care for the thirty second ones that have nothing.

This one was specifically for YOU

Is easier to recognize the bottle cap, but in "relic" mode, because the machine alert you about some iron in the middle, even with no rejvolume or discrimination at all

Have not added the DD yet, but will some time this week. This is great info for me using the MX7. Thanks

great video. Thanks! Although you pointed to the 4 GND bars and said the ground was pretty nasty. However, it is my understanding, that fewer bars mean stronger mineralization - 1 bar being the strongest. And the bars you got implies the ground wasn't very strongly mineralized. Could you please clarify? Thanks again!

@WhitesElectronics1950 7 лет назад
More bars = stronger mineralization. The number is the phase of the ground (type of mineral - ferrous, salt, etc). In Oregon we have very strong ground, often filling up the meter. On the East Coast the ground is like air! Some sites there is only one bar - which means hitting a nickel at 10-12" in the ground is totally possible.

Easier to just lift coil while swinging and see if vdi drops. If it stays nearly the same it’s good. If it’s starts dropping it’s bad

I tried this and it works for me in the field. Thanks. But I still have a big problem with crushed cans that are deep. The VDI is 71 and appears like a penny at 3 inches, yet the crushed can can be a foot down or more. The depth fools the detector. Any tricks or settings to avoid this?

Cans are tough! One thing you can do is use pinpoint to size the object. Large, deep objects will give a much bigger target than a 3 inch penny. Coins give you a nice small area to dig.

I use the MX Sport primarily on the dry sand along the gulf coast , I use beach mode but bottle caps always or nearly always rings up a penny I have the reject volume at 50% but and pull the coil away but never here that low grunt sound ,what am I doing wrong or does it need fixed

Do you have to use reject volume on the MX7 with the concentric coil to arrive at the same result or will the concentric coil just ignore most bottle caps like they do on other detectors ?
@WhitesElectronics1950
@WhitesElectronics1950 6 лет назад
We suggest using both. Concentric coils do tend to offer better target ID and discrimination, but using both methods will knock out more caps.

B- Chanel try using relic mode with SAT set to 6-8 and gain at 4-5

Awesome video. I will have to use my Reject Volume feature on my Sport. Does this demonstration have the same reaction at different depths?
@WhitesElectronics1950
@WhitesElectronics1950 7 лет назад
On very deep targets this method loses some effectiveness. But generally speaking, ferrous targets have a larger "halo" than non-ferrous so you should be able to use this trick on a wide variety of targets down to about 8 inches (including pesky washers).

White's Electronics, Inc. Thank you. One other question. Has this been tried with a gold target like a ring? I can imagine you would get a similar reaction with gold targets too?
@WhitesElectronics1950
@WhitesElectronics1950 7 лет назад
Gold is tricky due to the wide variance in size, shape, gold content, and depth. On a large man's ring you might get a different response than a small women's ring. If you are after gold the best advice we can give you is dig every signal.

My Minelab Safari doesnt hear bottlecaps at all. I dont have to do any tricks because the detector takes care of that for me. And I still hit the silver coins.

I was at a park last week, my new MX7 kept telling me I had a penny but 8/10 where bottle caps. I’m guessing that this technique should work on the MX7 as well?

I watch these clips in the hope something will be good , But the truth is nothing can beat a tesoro for discrimination, I have a laser trident 2 that's a UK vaq and a tesoro tejon both amazing detectors ,Both will smash the AT pro, And the sad over ratted deus, This I no as we have tried loads of tests on our test bed where the targets have been in the ground for several years ,Its very sad that people are fooled into buying expensive detectors when tesoro will beat them all .
