My 07 Freightliner Century Class

My USX Century Class. Ive been in the Volvo's, (All of USX's are 780's) the Pete's and now this Century and I gotta say, I like this truck. Dont get me wrong, the Volvo's are nice and all of USX's have the drivers lounge downstairs, that's nice. I don't care for the Pete's because the insides are NOT very driver friendly. There's NOT a lot of storage space at all. Small mirrors, poor turning radius, LOTS of blind spots, etc. Ive got huge mirrors, air ride on the front and lots of room. Only thing I don't care for is I have a C-15 Cat rated at 435 HP, wish I had a Detroit with 515 HP. I get a little slow on big hills with a heavy load. Love USX's technology. Side view cameras, automatic transmissions, electronic logs etc. You can say I'm not a truck driver all you want with this stuff....I don't care, I like it.

I know your video is old. But you did good with it. And I to got the past four years working at Carter express drove a Volvo. I just bought me a freightliner and love it. I'm now a o/o no longer a company man.

I used to drive an 06 freightshaker and at the time I thought it was alright then I got put into my 2006 379 peterbult with the c15 cat motor with an 18 speed. and it's turned all the way up and let me say it was like going from a horse and buggy to a space shuttle. I don't know if it's true but it seems like the heavier you load the Pete the better it runs. I love it. and screw an automatic I even think they should do away with 10 speeds make them all 18 or at least 13speeds

i dont give a fuck what anyone says century class are the best on the road. roomy, great looking and good on turning, repair and light on weight. only thing they really lack is cabin noise . other than that, frightliner all the way

there Volvo's are 780's not 770's the Volvo 770's are the older models. i like the freightliner century models there nice lookin trucks an they do have a shitload of storage space which is one of the specs i like about the century an all of the freightliner trucks...in my opinion i dont rele like the fact that they have all auto shift trucks that takes the fun out of driving a big rig you might as well be driving an over size car...i do know that manual transmissions are harder on the gears

my usx cascadia is great its a 2011 as spacious as the century but i really do miss that skyligh and bumper yeah we do elogs on our driver techs lemme tell you this its the best company i been with i think i made a great choice and when i went to orientation its like you made a family

Hey Pork Chop, I had a C-13 Cat in it. I was getting 4.5 - 5.2 with it. Couple things...in my opinion 1: Don't ever buy a fleet truck. You have any idea how many different drivers have been in that thing? 2: Fleet drivers (For the most part) couldn't care less about how they abuse the truck...it's not theirs and if they tear it up, oh well. 3: Given the above fact, those auto trans can't hold up to a lot of abuse and fail. A lot of companies, USX included are getting away from autos because of

it's between USX and another company I won't name right now. I am leaning towards USX although the other company is offering me a regional position. I like the equipment that USX has.

did your truck come with the frig,microwave,and inverter? Ive been out of trucking for about 5 years and looking to get back into it. US Xpress said theyd hire me on,but I was curious as to what their equipment was like first. Last time I drove was for Panther Expedited driving a 26' straight truck that was fully loaded and I spent maybe $20-$30 a week on groceries.

Hey drbandach1, I'm getting back into long haul and will be getting an 07 Freightliner Columbia.. I will send a shoot of mine once i get into it in early Aug. I look very much looking forwards to driving it. By the way , how do you like the Automatics as mine is the same. Safe drive.

@ZiBop Any experience? There are good companies that hire owner/operators but most won't touch you without at least 1 year experience. If you dont have your CDL, you'll need to attend a driving school. for $5-$7 K. After that, be careful who you work for, DO YOUR RESEARCH!

any problems or complaints about that auto shift. iv'e heard a lot of negative comments about them but funny as it is most of the nay sayers have never drove one, ( auto trans are the way of the future. autos were once rear in cars as well !!! )

reason ur century got that mileage prob was first its an automatic second its a 07 and old and most of all how the driver runs it . but i will agree i had a pete at usx and was a joke no room at all .

@ZiBop As far as the Century goes, great room, HORRIBLE mpg. Averaged 4.8-5.2mpg. DON'T BUY A TRUCK THAT GETS LESS THAN 6 MPG! A 2011 Cascadia & averaging 6.8mpg. Been in a Volvo 780 & got around 7.1mpg. Would probably buy the Volvo, it does'nt get any nicer. Most room, best ride & one of the best mpg's out there. Down side, once they get some age on them, they develop electrical & ECM problems. This can be a QUICK way to bankruptcy if not careful.

Dude seripusly centuries and columbias both get way better mpg than that i mean yeah you had a cat and wont get the same mpg as a detroit .. which most of those had btw ...and they will get 6 plus easy

@drbandach1 A fleet truck is no different than an O/O truck, some o/o's take care of them and some don't just like fleets. Give it a good once over and you'll be fine. I have had 4 trucks now, 2 o/o trucks and 2 fleet trucks and they all made me money.I would though stay away from the auto trans!

The fact their hard to diagnose and expensive to fix. 4: Don't buy a truck that old, the companies are getting rid of them for a reason...their wore out. Ask around about X Y shifters

New trucks are junk they breakdown alot more than der trucks they are more expensive to kerp tunning they ate nowhere near as reliable ad older trucks and they are going to constantly give you issues .. ..non stop
