1. Reducing random fat intake for example eating at a restaurant or adding too much olive oil to Sauteed chicken in pan 2. Eating and moving more on fasting days 3. 30 minutes of active play time every day like taking the dog for a walk or playing with the kids in the park 4. Saying no 5. 5 ingredient rule on food labels 6. Ask does this food help me or hurt me? 7. Breath holds and diaphragm release (breathwork) 8. When hunger arises, eat protein 9. Stop optimizing and start maximizing 10. Do more rucking vs just walking, more metabolic effect 11. Have a glass of water before every meal 12. Treat sunlight as a supplement 13. Eat more fruit 14. Get in water as much as possible 15. Supplements (3-5 g of creatine daily, magnesium, adaptogens like mushrooms and ashwagandha) 16. Focus on performance over body composition

Great advice in this video! As always thank you Thomas! Side note, I know rucking is a great exercise just from being a backpacker. My husband and I used to backpack a lot. 30+ mile trips. I always overpacked (although he carried more the weight 😂), so we always got a killer workout. Needless to say, when we stopped backpacking one or two seasons after buying a new house and land, we put on weight fast! You inspired me to get a ruck sack and are working on losing that weight now.

Respect this video a lot for being positive and focusing on the oft neglected aspects to health and fitness especially on RU-vid, which are overall well being, being simply good to yourself, and allowing some more naturally human elements into your life. I live in LA but work from home and only recently have been forcing myself to go to the pool during my lunch breaks. An hour of sun and some time swimming makes a huge difference for my overall happiness and positivity. Nothing to overthink, just healthy.

I haven’t watch Thomas for a while, but I used to see a lot of things. I rarely looked at any videos when he was deep into keto but one thing I say is that I hardly ever saw him show off his body before. It really is pretty amazing given how heavy he was at one time. I’m really glad that he’s not keto and I love hearing that he has some fruit just because it’s just easier in life not to have to be so narrow in food choices. At least that’s my experience.

I have sprouted then fermented and smoked chickpeas to reduce lectins and ideally create resistant starch from the carbs. I have found very little on utube on this combo. Can u expand on this? Thanks

i put alot of olive oil on my salad but mix it w natural balsamic vinegar so that helps. but i do eat alot of bacon too. so no six pack - but my stomach is basically almost flat

I find that at least an oz.(more is fine) of olive oil daily and my bowel movements are highly satisfying. For me it feels as if my gut health is improved because of olive oil intake. I am a true believer and try to take it with meals everyday.

As an older person (70) , I don't agree with water before a meal, as it will impair my ability to digest my food and extract the nutrients.

I notice a big difference with WHEN I drink water before and after a meal as well! Drink one glass of water 30 minutes before a meal to help digestion. Remember not to drink too soon before or after a meal as the water will dilute the digestive juices. Drink water an hour after the meal to allow the body to absorb the nutrients.

Hey Thom, something I've been questioning lately, the days that you fast, when do you eat? I try to get a fasted workout in during the morning, and then eat afterwards, although I struggle to get to sleep at a reasonable time if I'm hungry. Could you reccomend anything to help ease the body for sleep that isn't breaking a fast? My go to is usually cherry juice or something stronger if needed, 5-htp 🙏

If people do not know, in the U.S. Marine Recruit Depot during boot camp, when going for our meals which were breakfast, lunch, and dinner we would go through the serving line and then go for the drinks but our drill instructors made drink 2 full 16oz glasses of water right before we ate and mostly on our plate was chicken thighs, maybe chicken breast or some beef with steamed rice and like the carrot/pea medley and bread(they did not like us making sandwiches of our food lol). After we drank the 2 glass of water we could get a juice. Milk was there but the Drill Instructors yell at us because at the time, it was sort of easy to get sick with a myriad of recruits being from all over the place and they believed milk would aid in making you sick. They absolutely had cookies and sweets much like you seen in Full Metal Jacket. In 2001, not a person was super serious about their diet. Especially not 17 to 21 year olds rolling in the sand and physically training nearing 3-4 hours a day. Restrictions let up after we had done all the field work in our training phase and were back for the last 2 weeks. The rucking is 1000% percent a calorie burner, didn't seem as fun as Thomas was doing unless you absolutely love going 2 miles along a beach with a 80lbs pack on knee deep in sand to which before that you had already humped 5 miles and with 15 more miles to go. EVERYONE had a fucking six pack after all that training lol. Super important, literally dumping sugar and salt packets in our canteens helped us get through that because that was not the only day we did that intense shit. Want to know the MOST impressive thing, not a soul had to be an athlete to do all this. When people say there are mindgames in the military that's what they did, you didn't get to quit. Your mind would break a DI would be right there letting you know to NOT stop. You're an 18 yr old kid, far from home, it's not a guarantee you make friends with other recruits and you got to show up and not look weak. So all of what Thomas is saying applies because the ones that defend us are doing the same thing even harder. We're not defending America at the moment but we can better be prepared and ready for any situation, be in a better place for ourselves, our families, and our community.

The fats I add are macadamia nuts, ghee, coconut oil, C8 MCT oil, and red palm oil. I'm going to be replacing the red palm oil with cocoa butter when I use up what I have.

I think as long as you're allowed sufficient recovery time it should not matter, but with some jobs and bad hours it isn't entirely viable in some cases

Advices are great! I always take some notes after your videos. I have a question maybe someone can help. How to reduce stress during workout? I often feel even nervous eye tics when I start doing some exercises. And I feel extremely stressed after sport, can’t sleep and eat a lot. I understand that my physical capacity may be lower than others, I am not used enough to sport and not a strong person. But I like group trainings, and I just want to be capable to perform them. I don’t feel exhausted, just too stressed out. I started to drink sweet juice with protein during the workout, which help a little. Maybe some other advices?

I'm not sure that Thomas is an advocate for avoiding foods that harm metabolic health. For example, in his recent "Apple Cider Vinegar is NOT the Best Vinegar for Fat Loss, THIS Vinegar is" video he says we should sometimes substitute high-sugar flavored vinegars for no-sugar apple cider vinegar. So, it doesn't appear that Thomas is a low-carb or low-sugar advocate.

Thomas likes to take things to the extreme....watch Dr Ken Berry and he makes it simple....I have been going Ketivore (less than 10g carbs per day) for over 2 years....very simple....your body will tell you when you need more salt, more fat...less fat....it takes time....when you have some weakness etc...research on it as you go....you will learn over time...easy....keep it simple....I went from 30% body fat to 22%...../ 62lbs for me

Have to add: don't drink a lot of water before a meal, it is not the healthiest psychological trick, and it messes up your digestion of the following meal. Studies proved this year's ago when it became trendy.
