I love wearing "sun dresses" any more - now i know why my grandma always wore them! After traveling around the country (in a motorhome full time) - enduring two summers in east Texas & now living in west KY - sundresses are my summer staple!
Yes I remember Hancock Fabrics, I still have patterns with the Bloomington location stamped on them.😂 Your arms look great, keep rocking those sleeveless dresses! I don't have a fav dress pattern because I almost never wear them. Tops however, I have too many favorite patterns
I worked at the Bloomington store! Back in the 80s, I think? Gosh so hard to remember back that long. It was a second job and I worked it in the evenings. I have stories… I remember the woman that yelled at me because she was standing behind me at the cutting table, instead of in front of me, where everyone was lined up, and she was angry that I didn’t cut her fabric. I never saw her… Other customers were so sweet once she started berating me, and let her cut in line. And nowadays she would’ve ended up on a video captured by someone’s cell phone. 😂 I also was able to sew many of the model garments, one of my favorite perks of the job. Yes, I love all of your tops! So many fabulous tops.
I love these!! I need to make at least one of these this summer. You have a fabulous eye for blending fabrics….I wish I could do that with such finesse. Enjoy wearing these gorgeous, but most importantly cool dresses!!
I have just started to enjoy dresses I love all of these. I especially need the pockets . I treasure your videos when I get the chance to see them. You are very special to me!❤
I adore wearing dresses in the summertime. I have a favourite simple dress pattern I keep making over and over in different cotton knits. I get compliments on them all the time but they are so cool and comfortable. And I don't care about my arms anymore - I need to be cool.
I love the red linen so much I ordered 3 yards from Metro Textiles. Luckily there was a sale, 60% off. It's going in the "good stuff" stash to be cut when I'm good enough! Thank you for mentioning when you do a FBA. I'm learning a lot.
Perfect! I’m glad they still had some available for you to purchase- and on sale! Don’t hold onto the “good stuff“ too long, because the truth is, you’re probably good enough right now!
All great patterns,Sharon 💙And beautiful dresses! I remember Hancock fabrics and was so sad when they closed. I used to live 5 minutes away from them 😁
Thank you! Fun fact, as a young woman, I worked at a local Hancock Fabrics store in the evenings as a second job. Way back then the store still displayed model garments, and I was able to sew many of them for the store.
This is so informative. We can get so uncomfortable in hot weather, its good that you're recommending cooler dresses. I would love you to do a hashtag for them, if you don't mind x
Yes, it can be so uncomfortable in hot weather. Loose fitting dresses can be comfortable, and they don’t have to expose a lot of skin to keep you cool.
I love your dresses. I definitely wear sleeveless tops even if some rule says that I shouldn't. Fabric question - what are names for light weight cottons? I have a self lined 'cotton' skirt I want to duplicate, but not sure what to look for. I know quilting cotton is too stiff.

I'm brazilian and from the North, so every dress for me is Summer dress 😂. I love your vibe, you seem so dinamic and active. Makes me want to sew a bunch of pieces. I loved the red dress.
I try to use cash for every in- person purchase I make! So many mom&pop restaurants give cash discounts now, I've found, so I ask for a cash discount at every small business I go to. My favorite summer dress pattern is simplicity 8595... I've made it 3 times...view A, B, and C
I love M8214! Every time I wear it, I tell myself I need to sew another one. Well, you can see where the sleeves end on me, and if you’re comfortable with just that slight coverage, go for it as is!
I love your dresses and your attitude! I have been wanting to make some summer dresses. This is my inspiration for sure. I have some navy & white sort of tie dye /ikat knit that I want to make it in. Marcy Tilton V8975. Think it would be fun. Really like your McCalls 8214 and have it on my list now to purchase and make. I have a crazy crepe type knit that I think will be perfect. Thank you for your enthusiasm! Just subscribed to your channel and look forward to watching your channel. Stay Coo!
Hi! No, I did not lengthen this. The only change I made to the dress pattern was to do a small FBA. I am 5 feet 5 1/2 inches tall, but you might remember that from when we met IRL 😀
