When I review a bike, I dont sit on a desk and let you know about the test ride! I take you to my test ride! #trekbikes #trekemonda #kingofthemountains
Beautiful review man! After watching this around 6 times, I made up my mind. Sold my tarmac sl4 and now I'm waiting for my Emonda sl6! Can't wait for it!
I have that bike!!! I'm here in the US and I had to replace my Cannondale after an accident. I was able to find it July 24, 2020 in the middle of the pandemic so I was very lucky. Coming from an aluminum bike, the SL5 feels very comfortable. So much of the small vibrations are gone. The 28c tires add to endurance. I had changed to a slammed integrated handlebar for 2021 and she looks sweet. I call her CherylTiegs. Enjoy.
One the better reviews of the Emonda SL I've seen on RU-vid. I'm still on the fence, but it was great to see and hear someone's real world experience. Thanks
Update: I bought the Emonda SL 5 disc version (silver) and have been really enjoying it. I upgraded to a 50mm carbon wheelset and now I like it even more. Thanks again for helping me make my decision. 👍🏾
@@gaoutdoor4372 it came to about $1200 at a local bike shop (parts and labor). If you’re setup at home to true the wheels you could save a bit by mount them yourself.
I’ve been riding tubeless on my MTB for a long time now. It is a game changer because it is so compliant. Only have 22psi front and 24psi rear on my MTB.
Well don't know if you'll get this note just saw your video was very good excellent nice to see somebody riding the bike commenting on it instead of it just sitting in a shop talking about only specs I just bought my sl6 Pro 2 days ago 105 everywhere but I have the di2 shift this will be a first for me everybody says a night and day difference everybody says a night and day difference between manual and electronic anyhow great video keep them up and of course.....RIDE ON
I really love my current SL5, and I’m waiting for my local Trek dealer to receive the new SL6 in October. I’m definitely going to upgrade. I was initially thinking of getting the Madone but the price is a little out of my budget and the aero improvement to the Émonda make it a much better bike. Great review my friend👍🏻.
Grabe sir, everytime ma tan aw nako imong vlog sir maka goose bumps kaayo, subscriber pd diay kos sa imong youtube channel sir, sana ma meet tka in person nya pa picture ride safe, sir extra small size 😊
I'm considering this exact bike and comparing it to the new Allez Sprint Comp. Would like to an all-round race bike for crit racing and fondos. I'm not a climber and prioritize flat-line speed. Which one is a better option for me? The Émonda is a better value with the carbon frame but is it less stable on the flats? I plan on adding carbon wheels and tubeless 28c tires regardless. This is the best review I've seen on the new Émonda SL! No wonder you're approaching 100k views and over 500 comments.
I have had an allez sprint before. Handling wise, they are the same. Almost identical frame geometry too. The emonda wins coz the tube shapes are aero optimized and its carbon. Either choice is good! But im picking emonda. Its lighter too. My allez sprint was a tank.
What a excellent review and better video production. I own a SL5 and totally agree with you. I'm planning to upgrade to better groupset because mine has 105 and I feel it's a bit too bouncy at the rear derailleur and shifting is too mechanical compare with Ultegra Kudos for this real review from a real rider. Keep the good job and ride on 👍
@@brody5211 it does, weight is the only difference Its not like old times where they actually performed differently You could even say that for normal folk the 105 groupset is better because its not glued together, this glue failed on a few occasions already
Great review. I bought the sl5 trek 2022 (same one as yours i think). The sl5 emonda must be a mid range bike despite being an entry trek carbon, what do you think?
loved the video man. i just purchased this bike about a week ago. can you please tell me the tires you switched to. also i notice my hands hurt alot on this bike (should i wear gloves for now) and also my lower back. i am switching from a hybrid trek fx2. so maybe its just about getting used to a new ride and feel?
Yeah getting used to an aggressive fit. You can also move up the bars, shorten the stem and then move back the saddle a lil bit. I switched to schwalbe pro one tiees
I have only ever ridden mtn bikes. How would this bike go for a first road bike? Wil I love it? Never ridden a road bike. Ever. I am 42 years old. Great vid. Greeting from Melb australia
Id recomend the pro 37 over these as those are lighter, these are a little bit on the heavy side. But they are plenty stiff and cheap. Good wheelset for the price
pulled the trigger same bike same color. I watch this video over and over again. will be upgrading wheels when ever I can. mines doesn't have a trek sticker on the fork?
Compared to my other bikes, I feel like I am positioned very far behind the pedals instead of on top of them even though the bike is definitely the right size for me. Is this normal for a more aggressive fitting bike like this one? I am tempted to move the saddle almost all the way to the fore even though, as mentioned, the bike is definitely the right size. But I don't want to do this if it's normal and I just need to adjust to proper positioning for this bike.
I just bought an sl5 unexpectedly. I cracked the frame on the Domane. I was really debating between sl5 and 6. One reason is that I want Ultergra Groupeset. But, the price difference made me go for sl5. I'm migrating carbon wheels and carbon rails saddle to sl5. I'm planning to make some adjustments in the future. What do you think I should do next?
cool! i just found this new update video. i love it. are you running full mechanical? i want to stick with mechanical, im not ready for electronics. can emonda be built with sram force 22 or only shimano crankset? thank you!
@@KristianeLim thank you. Do you plan to have video about your build with parts? I wish you weren't busy so you could record your friend building your bike. I want to build my own bike with emonda 😊 I have caad9 right now.
Curious, coming off Allez sprint , how does it compare to that ? Climbing, downhill and cornering ? I have been in Allez now for 3 years and do lot of climbing, and was curious about the emonda as a comparison. Appreciate it. Great vid !
@@KristianeLim interesting. I have the 2015 Emonda SL6 Pro rim brake version. Might have to test ride the new generation. Looking fwd to more content. Also, agree on the 28c TLE....
The emonda is better in every way, except when it comes to sprinting on perfect tarmac. I made the jump from an '18 allez sprint to a '21 emonda sl. Both bikes were equally upgraded (carbon wheels, saddle, stem, handlebar). The emonda is so good that I never miss the allez. I say go for it. You won't regret it.
Awesome! i am getting the sl6 pro soon. As u said u recommend to go for 28c tyres and I am considering it too..but just to wonder my weight is only 50kg, will 28c tires make me feeling like a mtb? and what tyre pressure u recommend too? I am currently running 25c front 85 rear 95 psi
#TeamDiscs !!! Don't get me wrong, calipers are still very good and very light. But, ever since my transition to disc brakes on a road bike I haven't looked back since
What size frame is that? Is that a 50cm or a 52cm? I'm 5'6" and normally with a straight top tube i normally ride a 48cm to 50cm frame. Trek's sizing are a bit odd and i got a 50cm emonda and kinda thinking i should have gotten a 52cm instead. I ended up having to get a longer stem/bar combo instead to stretch out more. Also with how the cables are routed through the head tube and headset from the handlebars there's a hole in the frame now right below the stem. Have you had any issues with water collecting in the frame now? I don't generally ride in the rain so i haven't had any issues on that but just curious if you've had to deal with that? Nice video and review.
how tall are you ? I am between sizes and can’t decide between 52 and 54 , not much difference to me apart from handlebar to be a bit smaller and I am not too overstretch in 52 but 54 feels ok too
this was by far the best video review of this bike ive seen so far, ive already bought the bike and this motivates my decision that i made the right choice, do you feel it is a heavy bike?
Nice test drive, was looking and considering to get this one but blue in color. may i ask how tall are u for using this 52cm? im 175cm and the only size left in the store is 52cm. hesitating whether to get the 52cm or not, thanks and happy riding.
Just bought one Boss Lim(radioactive red). we have the same height and bike frame size. The only diff is our weight. You are 60kg and I'm 80kg. lols.. My best upgrade would be self weight reduction.. hahaha Nice review by the way..
