@@taylorswf23 we think we will probably have one more! My son was a very long/slow labor and then my daughter was so fast we had her on the floor at home haha. I’ve heard labors get faster the more kids you have but also, every pregnancy is so different, so I don’t think you can really plan on that. With that said, if we do have a third, we would have a planned homebirth. I feel like since I’ve already done it once, I could do it again especially if the environment is much more calm and I can look into natural forms of pain management.

"oh look, here's my child so exciting " 😆. Glad you and baby were both safe and healthy. Towards the end of my pregnancy and once I went into labor C-section was brought up a lot. I kept saying "No, I want to see how things go." I am from the US. Luckily I was able to birth both my babies. With a toddler at home I totally was fearful of a C-section. Take your time posting a video. Two babies is hard. I'm 3 month pp with my 2nd and I am still adjusting.

I loved hearing your birth story! My baby had FGR too, born on July 18, and it really was SO hard not to worry about everything with all the weekly monitoring and risk management plans during my pregnancy. Like I know the doctors are doing their job and all, but man, they really stressed us out with all the worst-case scenarios. And like you said, the hormones definitely didn't help! I'm so glad to hear that everything turned out well for you and for Finn, though. My baby ended up being perfectly healthy too, even though she was in the 3rd percentile overall (not just abdomen). They never did find a reason for it, which is kind of annoying, but my placenta was also in the 3rd percentile, so maybe that's why? Who knows. But yeah, inductions are crazy. So inspiring that you managed to do it without an epidural even though it wasn't your plan. My induction took 66 hours, so fortunately there was *plenty* of time for the anesthesiologist to mosey on over, lol. Pitocin is rough! Love your channel, and cheers to our teeny-tiny healthy babies!
@followmypregnancyjourney628
I am going through the same thing 😫 and I am so stressed out. I’m 35 weeks today and last week my baby was in the 11th percentile so I’m getting another growth ultrasound next week (week 36). His abdomen area is measuring small and if he falls below the 10th percentile I will have to get induced at 36 or 37 weeks. Hearing her story and reading your comment is giving me hope 🥹🥹 I just want my baby to be healthy

Wow I can’t believe how similar my story is! I also just had my second baby with a toddler at home. He was also measuring small for a few weeks and they finally kept me at the hospital on my due date. They broke my water, I asked for the epidural at 4cm but 20min later my son was born! Totally unexpected. I was leaning over the back of the bed to push and was definitely screaming! Haha Congratulations, excited to follow your newborn/toddler boys adventures as we navigate the same thing. 💕

I was booked for induction 2days after learning all the situation, but I started labour naturally.. Still got induced with hormones. I wish you and Finn all the best and I'm sure he will grow beautifully and be strong. My son is now 16 months old and my biggest blessing.

What a lovely induction story. Glad it all went well. I felt so triggered when you said about everyone telling you to check the sex as soon as he was born. We had that with my second. She was barely even on my chest before everyone was demanding we check the sex! Like, give me a damn minute to catch my breath and appreciate the fact that I’ve just birthed a baby! It sounds petty but it really annoyed me and I had zero energy to be able to tell them all to back off before my husband’s hand reached in to lift her leg - no shade to him because he wasn’t to know, but it’ll be going right to the top of my birth plan this time for sure.

Had to chuckle at "I could have gone without knowing that pain" lol. Both of mine were inductions due to medical reasons (first because I was developing pre-eclampsia, second because I was at a higher risk of developing pre-eclampsia). On my second baby I had something called "late decelerations" which basically boiled down to my baby was using up their reserve of oxygen because during the late decelerations blood flow can be restricted. I was basically told they could only let me continue like that for so long before they needed to do a c-section. So at nurse change these ladies were like "ok we are going to get you to a 10 as quick as possible cause you don't want a c-section" and by golly they tried a host of different positions and got me from a 7 to a 10 in less than 10 mins lol. My issue is also normally caused by placenta or cord problems and they sent them off for testing but nothing was found.

I had an easy labor and delivery with my first (3 hrs of tolerable contractions + 20 minutes of pushing).. The experience was so positive I was sure it'll go the same with my second. I was wrong. My second baby was almost 9 lbs and I couldn't push him out. Was pushing for almost 2 hrs and I was exhausted. The contractions were so intense I felt like I was going to pass out. I ended up having a c section because my body just couldn't anymore and my mind was out of it. The first few days of recovery was brutal. But after the first week, it wasn't as bad as I expected it to be. I was back to normal at the end of the 2nd week. Looking back, I wished I had tried harder to birth him vaginally, but at the same time it feels amazing to have a totally different birth experience. When I tell my story, I feel proud that I was able to experience both vaginal birth and c section. Totally different but both humbling.

Congratulations on the birth of Finn!🥰 Thanks for sharing your story! This can be so helpfull for many people. I was so glad I had seen some information on youtube about dysmature baby's when we found out our daughter was dysmature. This was also due to the umbilical cord, in my case it being not well inserted in the placenta (velamental insertion?). Luckily she is doing great now (14 months old) and medical services are so great nowadays. In the Netherlands it is still very common to give birth at home, and have a completely natural birth! But I was so thankful I was in the hospital 🙏 I did have a natural birth without any medication, but I totally understand everyone who chooses pain medication! It is so painful, and we think it's also normal to have pain medication for anything else, why not for giving birth? Thanks for your story! Unbelievable how strong all women are giving birth 😃💪

This kinda reminds of when I gave birth, I asked for the epidural, and it seemed like it took the guy forever to come, and they “administered’ it, but I had no idea that there was a button to push for it ! I ended up giving birth, feeling everything and asking/screaming why it hurt so much and could feel the ‘ring of fire’. Ended with a second degree tear, and as the doctors are abt to stitch me up, the nurse looks at me and says ‘oh here the epidural button if you want more”. I was shook. I ended up fainting and bleeding out of the epidural spot in my spine after they took it out and I was in the washroom.

Lol I went through with a natural childbirth which was my plan, but by the time you get to 8cm there is no amount of preparedness for that amount of pain. It's next level. They didn't give me any fentanyl once pushing because they said at that point it can get the baby high and compromise their breathing. I'm sorry you had to go through it against your wishes, but I'm so glad you and Finn are okay :)

When I had an epidural (PDA we call it in Germany) it was done in a way I could still feel the contractions and certainly feel it when I pushed my baby out, but of course I felt the contractions much less than without the epidural. It was such a relieve but I am surprised to hear you didn't feel anything because of it. How did you know when to push? Your report of the birth position and the doctors reaction is so funny. ^^ For me it was the opposite. The midwife suggested different positions including a squatting position - but I couldn't do it. It was even more agony to the point that I couldn't move at all anymore, I just told her to get me out of that position ASAP.

I'm a little less than halfway through, but wanted to comment before I forgot! The IV pain and issues were very likely because of dehydration - I've had so many iv's and it's night and day difference when I'm hydrated vs when I'm not. I'm sorry you had such a tough time in the last few weeks of your pregnancy - but I'm happy you're both healthy and good now.

@@kaitlinross4348 no problem! They definitely still pinch, but it's so much of a difference when I'm expecting one and can hydrate properly, vs when I'm not expecting one. Same thing with blood work! It'll hurt a lot more, and cause more potential problems, if you aren't properly hydrated beforehand. Though I will say, some people just have very small and problematic veins no matter how much they drink, but nurses will mention that if it applies to you. They can usually tell if it's a difficult vein due to dehydration, or due to small/prone to rolling veins.

I wanted an epidural but once I had it, the heart rate of the baby went down quickly and they performed a test by taking blood from the baby's head while still inside me (which they told me about pre-labour but made it sound like it's such a rare event that I didn't really care about it) and sure enough it called for an emergency C-section. At that point all I wanted was my baby out and safe, it didn't matter how. I know some women feel less of a mom for not birthing their babies and that is just not the case. I had horrible labour contractions and I cannot imagine what yours were like. You were so strong to go through that!

Wonderful outcome and well done on getting through it while so unprepared and on the spot. Everything worked out in the end. IUGR can often be 100% normal and just mean you have petite babies. Midwives will usually ask generally at the start of pregnancy your birth weight / partners birth weight and also your mothers pregnancies and birth weights of her children. To get an idea. It is like adults some are petite and small and some are tall and large. Longer torsos, short torsos, long legs and short legs etc etc. I had IUGR with my first - abdomen, dropped to 4th centile from the 10th at 38weeks. I refused intervention as everything else was fine and ended up in natural L&D at 39W 4D natural water birth. Born at 6lbs. My son is still small around the waist and like his father tall and skinny and aaaaall legs. No development issues mentally or physically and now 75th% and taller then most kids his age 2.5yrs old. So it is soooooo normal to have petite babies with different sizes. I and my siblings were all petite 6lbs-7lbs so inline with my Mother. As you said if there is an issue with amniotic fluid, placenta, baby in distress intervention is very much needed and that is not normal. But if all is good and baby is happy and moving and still growing that can be very very normal to. I am 33w with baby #2 snd again baby is petite and I am having scans every 2 weeks. Not at all concerned as overall average and placenta and amniotic and movement's are perfectly fine. Still on an upward trajectory on growth chart, again abdomen is smaller so again taking after my first son and their father. Small short abdomen and long gangly legs. 😂

Was in L&D for less then four hours and went from 4-10cm when I had to have an emergency c section due to severe heart rate drops to 50 with no recovery. I somehow ended up with no amniotic fluid (either a very slow leak or stopped bring produced), he had his cord wrapped twice around his neck and entire body AND was sunny side up. It was VERY traumatic. My husband almost missed the entire thing because I was rushed to the OR so fast and they didn’t bring him in fast enough because it was such an emergency.

Did hear the whole story yet but the beginning make me think very hard- I’m due in 8weeks with baby #2 the whole pregnancy baby is growing fine but I’m having really hard time gaining weight (my body had hard time gaining enough recommended weight even with my first pregnancy but this time around is even more difficult) And although frequent checks are reassuring that baby is growing ok it’s very stressful. My first pregnancy ended up with emergency induction in 39weeks because of baby’s health- was very stressful for me even though baby boy was born healthy with no problem whatsoever. This time around I am trying to remind myself that ultrasounds and scans and other tests are not always accurate and actually can be off quite a bit.

My first had fetal growth restriction too and was in the 3rd percentile, but they still let me go until 41 weeks. I needed the ventouse and had stitches in 3 different places. For my second, he was a bigger baby and I didn't tear at all, it was such a relief! Postpartum healing with tears vs no tear is so different! I didn't get an epidural with either of them, but I definitely freak out during contractions too. My labour is done within 3-4 hours (was already 8cm when I arrived with my second) so there's never time for an epidural whether I wanted it or not haha. Currently 8 weeks pregnant with my 3rd baby and I really hope I don't tear again, it's a massive fear of mine.

Some ultrasound techs are so unfriendly, during my anatomy scan the guy never said anything, showed me the screen for half a second went "cute baby" and left. He was so rough and I felt bruised after

A few weeks before my baby was born, I was told that he seemed like he was measuring small, so I was scheduled for an ultrasound where it was confirmed that he was small, but his vitals were all fine, so no one mentioned early induction or anything. FGR was never mentioned, either. I went into labor at 39 weeks without having to be induced and my baby was born weighing 5 lbs 10 oz, which I think they said was like the 9th percentile. He was super small, and at 13 months now he's still really small for his age (approx 16lbs). I'm surprised that they wanted to induce you and your LO was diagnosed with FGR even though he weighed 6+ lbs. Makes me wonder if my providers dropped the ball.
@Joraelfa
@Joraelfa Год назад
The FGR wasn't because of his overall size. Just the measuring of his abdomen. All other measurements were on track.

Echoing cleo's comment that the specifics of this case were different. There are so many variables at play in each pregnancy, I wouldn't jump right to assuming your providers were at fault because another case went differently.

I went from 3cm to pushing in an hour.. spontaneous labour, not induced. It was horrible. Honestly I preferred my 8 hour labours I had previously. They were a nice gradual build up of contractions, whereas my 1 hour one was back to back contractions. My midwife didn’t believe me when I said I felt like I was in transition.

Im 36 weeks and found out on Monday that that my son is overall in the 24th percentile but his abdomen is in the 6th percentile. I may be induced as early as 37 weeks and as late as 39 weeks.

Do you think maybe the epidural shortage had something to do with the fact that you didn’t get one? Is that a thing in Canada like I’ve been hearing?? Congrats on baby!!!

Do our labors look alike?I wouldn't say so...but I don't know why,I can totally understand and feel exactly what u are saying.. btw when u said "only 6cm great I have the time for epidural "I laughed so much cause I progressed from 6 to 10 in literally 1second.. P.s I got a bit mad with the midwife and the doctor who"allowed"you the position😑

My sister experienced IUGR with my nephew. The doctors told her that all the nutrients was going to the upper body for the brain and lower may not grow as quickly... This all came up pretty early on... He was born small but healthy.. BUT she spent her pregnancy imagining what she called and E.T. baby... Big head and long arms and short everywhere else. We can laugh at her now

i find it crazy they knew baby was measuring small and then they decide to not measure baby anymore?? what if baby fell below 1%? 25% of still births are due to IUGR (i had it). that doctor seemed negligent.

Continuing. We were told the same abdomen thing at 33 weeks. That was the week of our baby shower. It was awful. At the time we felt like we shouldn't be getting all those gifts because of the possibility we wouldn't get to use them. The MFM said the concern was the possibility of s****birth if we didn't induce and that was traumatizing AF. Instinctually, I knew baby was fine because he was a little tornado in the womb. But as a FTM, what did I know? I had to go in for weekly scans as well. At 36 and 4 there was no improvement so we were told we had to induce as soon as I reached 37 weeks. Yeah, the hormones definitely don't help! Also doesn't help to have an emergency medicine physician for a husband because he literally sees the worst that could happen on a daily basis at work. Omg yeah the post water breaking contractions are a different world. Hands and knees was definitely most comfortable for me too. I was hanging off the head of the bed which was all the way up. They had me lay down in a different position to try to get rid of my "cervical lip" and it was excruciating. I found IV pain relief made things worse. I passed out between contractions and then would just be attacked by pain. Not great when you're so out of it. I don't remember which drug it was though. "Allow" ???? That's infuriating. 😆 I ended up with an epidural because the induction lasted two days and I was dead tired. They let me labor down and while pushing I could feel the pressure of contractions. My husband was trying to coach me and I told him to STFU 😂. I breathed that baby out with an epidural. Mine was 6lb 3oz at 37 weeks. Kid was fine. Even his abdomen was within normal range. He was fine the entire time just like I instinctively knew. I've heard recovery is much easier without an epidural. My placenta was sent to pathology too. It was completely normal. I think it might have measured slightly smaller than the baby's GA but otherwise, like you said, an anomaly. I was indeed traumatized, but for the opposite reason. I wanted a natural birth and ended up with every medication and machine. I did the birth healing with Evelyn Ojeda and it helped me be less useless whenever I think about birth. I still cried a bunch while listening to this, but hearing your perspective was definitely helpful. You expressing gratitude especially. I was very angry for very long thinking it was all for nothing, but this really helped. Thank you, Ashley ❤️. I wish I could give you a hug 🥹.
