I mean there offence is better but Talbot is hella old and their d core is not that good. Also the atlantic got better and the metro is likely gonna have a wild card spot
I don't think it's an issue of the red wings themselves, it's more a factor of the teams around them massively upgraded while the wings slightly upgraded.
Red Wings were also one of the most fortunate teams in the league last year. They rarely controlled play and most games were outshot/outchanced, but they finished on an absurd percentage of their shots. That shooting percentage will come back down to earth next year.
I’m really hoping UTAH does well this year cause being an avs fan, we need a good rival right now and their perfect since they kinda mirror us with how they’ve built the team
Wings have one of the deepest forward cores in the nhl. You act like Kane is so old but he was a ppg last year. Gustafsson is analytically good so idk why you would put him in the same group as Justin Holl? Edvidsson was reliable in the last few games of the season and he doesn’t need to be a superstar immediately just reliable in the d zone. You’re overrating the pens, senators, and sabers so much to hate on the wings.
@@Leblock_James wings got better actually by replacing Perron with Tarasanko and ditching Sprong who is a major defensive liability. Add in Talbot who had an all star season and Gustafsson who is a very reliable d man. Get a guy in Motte who can play some ok and add depth to the bottom of the lineup. If a team got worse it’s the sens who lost Chychrun replaced him with Jensen who’s decent but keeping Hamonic instead of Brannstrom is laughable plus overpay Perron lol
@@mywrinkledrightnut8912 Tarasenko is washed Gustavsson is not good at all your Defence is the worst in the divison If you Think Cam Talbot is an Upgrade thats Laughable he played in a defensive goalie friendly system at 37 years old hes only gonna Regress especially behind your Lacklustre Defense Chychrun was a locker room issue plus we dont need 3 for the same player with chabot & Chychrun, We needed more vets & Bottom 6 help with Perron Amadio & Gregor we fixed that issue our goaltending is miles ahead of the Wings too Ullmark is a top 10 goalie Hamonic is bad sure but jeff perty …. I rest my case
I do think Ottawa and the Sabres are better than the Red Wings right now, better goalies all around and just as good if not better offensively. Tage Thompson and Tim Stutzle is gonna have a way better year this season and that will make the difference. So, yeah atlantic division starting from the bottom Mtl
Realistically I don't think it's a bad thing if DET picks in the top 10 again 1 more year. So far the only prospects that have graduated will be Seider, Raymond, and Edvinsson and I think 1 more top 10 pick could be good for the future. Danielson looks like he could be at worst a 3C with 2C potential and Kasper looks like a 3C ceiling guy. MBN/ASP/Cossa will all join in a few years + one more top 10 pick wouldn't be bad. I think DET has a bright future just seems long because they had zero prospects when Yzerman took over.
Agree overall with your assessment of the Hawks but I disagree that they'll rack up 75 points this season. That's a 28 point swing difference from last season. 66 points and 4th worst record incoming.
im not sure how good next seasons draft class will be but outside strong internal growth from core pieces i want the habs to remain a bottom 10 team and hopefully win the lottery lol. we just need one core piece going forward at center i think or possibly defense.
Completely disagree with you there. Blackwood was arguably the MVP of the team last year. The issue is we've been running a defense corpse instead of a defense corps.
@@tywilson993 Alright, now I know you're trolling. If you're looking at stats for last year Chrona had the worst GSAx of any goalie on the team with a -7.6 in addition to the worst traditional stats. I understand that he was hung out to dry, but so were all of the Sharks' goalies. Blackwood managed a +2.4 GSAx, Romanov had +2.0, Cooley had -6.0, and Kahkonen had +1.4 (including his time in NJ). Blackwood got 2.02 GF/60 in goal support and Mrazek was the only goalie in the league who got less (2.00 GF/60) with more than 2 games played.
I can see the canadiens being in the wildcard race, and we'll see around the deadline what's up. But I wouldnt be suprised seeing us end up with the 8th-12th overall pick
I don't get the hype for the Red Wings. Sure they have a solid forward core but does Yzerman really think that Ben Chiarot can play top pair minutes for a whole season? Combine that with their big question marks in net, (ik Cam Talbot was good for LA but he's 37 and is in for a step back behind a much worse defensive core), and I just don't see that team improving from where they were last season.
I think the Wings have a good chance of making the playoffs but I don't think with the lines you and many others project - If your gonna have Kane and Tarasenko on the same line then Larkin has to center it to help the D out - but no matter which of the 4 top wingers you put with Larkin, it will be a potent line.
As a Sharks fan, I think the Sharks will be better. They really need some defense. They maybe get 25 wins and some more overtime losses vs last year. They are likely still the worst team.
I think you're undervaluing Columbus a bit though I am biased as a Blue Jackets fan. Cole Sillinger's defensive game took a huge leap this season and if he can improve his finishing he could be a very good 2 way player in a year or two. We definitely need defensive improvements and if his game continues to progress that might really help with our goals against. The veterans we signed aren't exactly going to move the needle but definitely will provide leadership and experience for the young core we've got growing. I'd put them closer to like bottom 8 or 9 in the league but that's just my biased take. Surprised Buffalo isn't on here though it feels like they somehow got younger and lost depth so far.
With a healthy dach and a useable 2nd line i think habs hit 85-90 points then next summer we sign demidov hage and fowler and good luck to the antlantic when that happens
i'm not being biased but i think cbj and even calgary will be worse than sjs. the sharks got a new coach and blackwood was insane last year comparative to the amount of shots he faced, and yeah the forward core is pretty loaded and the d is still below average but much better than last year.
Eh they should be at least like about how good the Blues or Kraken were this year next year. But I don't expect them to make the playoffs till Demidov comes. I think we will add some FAs in 2025 off-season and become a divisional seed.
Best case scenario for the Sharks is a significant improvement, like 15 standings points, and still finishing last. Oh dear god, if they get Hagens... I wouldn't complain but that would be kinda f-ed.
@@Leblock_James It’s a lot like the one we had last year and we ended up a tiebreaker away from the playoffs. Plus the offense took a step forward and the goaltending situation improved a little
@@andrewblakeslee8709 Ill Give you This Talbot is Better than Husso You got some depth on the offense sure but once again Losing Walman hurts,Edvinsson i Like but hes gotta break out The rest of the D corp frankly isnt good enough
Detroit could very well regress, but not THAT far. Detroit will have a decent amount of rookies this season (Albert Johansson, Edvinsson, Berggren, and likely one of Kasper/Danielson), therefore slight regression isn’t out of the question. But having them THAT low is diabolical
@@andrewblakeslee8709 my biggest question is the defense. Losing ghost means losing a lot of offense. But Johansson and one of the FA signings (can’t remember his name as I’m drunk) who is defensively responsible will be an upgrade defensively. I still think there is one more move coming tbh. Need either a top pair LHD so u aren’t tossing edvinsson up top before he’s ready, or a 2nd pair RHD to play with Ed. I can see this team being stagnant compared to last season tbh, but for different reasons
flyers second line is better than capitals first line there is no way flyers will be 7th in metro they might make the playoffs just got michkov and have relly good forward Core solid d Core and ersson is pretty good aswell
You trashed the Sharks a little too much, emphasis here is on little. Blackwood is under-rated, look at the advanced stats. Vitek disclosed a crap ton of injuries he was playing with Devils goalie coach Rogalski, who notoriously overplays guys when they have injuries. There's uncertainty there, yes, but I wouldn't call it as terrible as your quick take. Their blueline is going to keep them at the bottom for sure no matter how the rest of the team plays, but is better than last year even if not saying much. They brought in Waldman, a proven player who can conceivably be adequate in the top-4 and Muhakmadullin is old enough to pop and was incredible in the AHL. Grier couldn't do much more carrying all that dead cap and the long backend on the Vlassic and Couture contracts negotiated by his predecessor. They do have more of a shot than you made it sound to finishing better than last in the league.......well, maybe.
The Ducks could surprise I think. I don’t think they make the playoffs but they could be in the running for a wildcard up until the end. Zegras playing injured then missing most of the season hurt badly, team looked like a new team last 11 games when Zegras got back. No more load management for Leo, Mintyukov should be allowed to step forward and impact more. Think Cutter will help quite a lot. Finally, the Ducks had the most PIM and one of the worst PP units last year. With a new special teams coach and I hope to God they cut down on the penalties, I really think they could be a lot better than they get credit for. Will be exciting to see how they look. Great video LOVE your stuff!!!
I can guarantee you he won't be at Boston College. There's a chance he'll go back to Boston University, but not Boston College. I'm still fairly confident he'll sign his ELC in the next few days and come out to the NHL, though.
Do a little more research before you make your videos! You come across sounding ignorant. And your take on the Red Wings is a joke 🤣 but you knew that already because you clearly do not like them. And because of that it really makes your videos unwatchable.....
Dumpster Patch for a Dumpster Team!! Enjoy eternal rebuilding, Detroit! Maybe this year your team won't have two separate 11 game losing streaks! 🤣 #Yzerfail
