@@MikeBartner a better draft though so even if they are mid 20’s picks they should still get some good players, plus I’m really not convinced Colorado will be as good as they were this year next season. They don’t have the cap, their goaltending is suspect and their defense gets worse by the year, trading byram then letting walker walk just to bring in de haan and branstrom is a downgrade. Though branstrom is young enough to improve the team just feels incomplete like they squandered the chance to win multiple cups. Plus the uncertainty with landeskog and nichuskin. They’re a playoff team but probably a round one bounce barring a major move
@@ShawzySkatesThey had the 13th, 14th and 15th overall picks. They drafted Zboril, DeBrusk and Senyshyn. The 16th overall pick was Barzal, the 17th overall pick was Connor and 18th overall pick was Chabot. They took 1 okay player and 2 busts instead of 3 stars who were drafted right after them
Two guys I'm loving for this draft are Jakes O'brien and Luka Radivojevic. O'brien is a great playmaker and offensive driver. Luka could grow to his dads height of 6,2 and be a super high end offensive d imo.
This years draft was sneaky strong all things considered. Next years top 5 looks eerily similar to this years. Big PWF winger, big C, clear franchise C at 1, Russian MHL kid top-5. I’d still say Celebrini, Demidov is better than Hagens, Martone. But damn. Lottery teams next year are in good shape.
Might sound weird, but Vegas definitely has some young talent, between Brison, Doropheyev, Connelly, Hilton and Korczak, they definitely don't have the best prospect pool but it's a sneaky good one
Completely random question different from the video, but had no idea you were from the Long Island area. Opinion on Staten Island? Visiting my GF’s family there soon
I don't think the Ducks will be in the mix at the top five let alone the top three next draft but I do think they still pick in the later part of the top ten, so this is very informative.
Dude misa 8? His ppg went down because spirit added all that nhl drafted talent so not to put all the pressure on him. Many times he was playing on spirit third line. He can skate, his vision to find the open man is sick, and his shot exceptional. Not a fair sampling this season. Next season with the nhl drafted guys gone (parekh will be back) will tell the tale of misa when he will be the show. And misa won or tied three games with goals in the last 10 seconds. Just wait and see when he has as draft future at stake next season to see the full misa sample. Misa MEM. CUP CHAMP will be alright. And mcd and jt's teams were garbage when they got there. They had to be the scoring show.
I can't buy that excuse for the production considering Parekh as a defenseman put up insane almost 1.5 PPG numbers. If Misa is this amazing no doubt top prospect with the talent on Saginaw, he should've at least crossed the 80 point mark.
@@MikeBartner Excuse? You using parekh's (a year older) ppg in his draft year to downplay misa's ppg not in his draft year is a lame excuse. parekh had the most important part or point guard of the team-run the offense/pp. That shows you just watch a few highlights to come up with this 'top 10' who has no idea how spirit were constructed and how misa was well shielded for mem. cup run. Maybe watch a whole season, playoff, and mem. cup before making these 'rankings'. And spirit just drafted an nhl drafted guy in chl import draft chernyosov plus added a u of m decommit. why do you think that is? Or have d. drinkell who built the mem. cup champ better explain that to you. I guess spirit could have just put misa out there to cherry pick 50 g 100+ pts. like jt did but then again they were about winning. jt never has been. Just a scorer only who has never won anything. And go and look at jt's numbers after the 70 g second season. They went way down year 3-4 yet he still went no. one.
it’s not even so much that he got worse, it’s that other prospects have improved a lot more this season and he sort of plateaued as Mike suggested - guys like Hagens and Martone took big steps this season to separate themselves as clear cut top 3 prospects in this draft at this point
@@dereklasker5350 exactly. misa played on third line in playoffs with fkn sima and mangione at times. probably the curse of being 'exceptional'. misa will be the main guy this next season and will up his game
McQueen has to be the most overrated prospect in this class. His D-1 yr was not that impressive considering he’s a late birthday. If he wasn’t huge he wouldn’t even be considered top 10. Misa is also going top 5
@@MikeBartner if he was doing this at 16 I would agree with you but not even being a point per game at 17 is honestly worrisome, especially when the same guys his age tore up the WHL (Catton, Lindstrom, Iginla, Parasack, etc). Obviously it’s not all about points but McQueen being 14th in ppg for WHL players under 18 is not a formula for a top 3 pick.
