Disagree on what you think is the going rate, for example, we paid Matty G 4.2m last year, so 5m seems like a great price for Zedorav, and getting the best center on the market is a huge win.
Bruins fan. You’re wrong. Long term actually means the annual cap hit goes down with cap inflation and those are foundational players and a few years from now their contracts will be low making them trade friendly
Sorry but I disagree with alot of this the Bruins are definitly winners here as they got Lindholm a guy they always wanted and will fix the top 6 problem plus he wasn't happy in Vancouver and was probably affected by the deadline which was the reason his points total was down this year and Zadorov will add pysicality to the team which they seriously need at this point to go anywhere in the playoffs and I say the Islanders are losers Mike Reily sucks and Duclair is not the type of player that will change a team honestly since he been switching teams every year at this point and the Devils got players noboby wanted there also losers too but the biggest winner has to be the Nashville Predators as there now a fully loaded team with Stamkos, Marchanssault and Skeji I expect them to be the best in the west next year and just because the Bruins and Predators gave to much money away doesn't make it bad you know.
Foegle is fucking awful. The only reason he scored 20 is because he played with Draisaitl a lot. Dude was scratched a few times in the playoffs because of how bad he is. Massive LOL at the kings
I feel like Carolina qualifies for both halves of this list funnily enough. They’re losers because SIX important contributors to last year’s team (Guentzel/Skjei/Pesce/Teravainen/Noesen/presumably Necas) are gone. Even if a couple of those guys’ new deals are overpayments, having that much roster turnover is brutal to a team that wants to contend for a Cup. And yet…they’re also kinda winners too?? They signed three of the best value contracts given out all day (Walker 5x$3.6, Ghost 3x$3.2, Carrier 6x$2); 4 if you count Slavin’s 8x$6.5 extension. The forward group still desperately needs another signing or one of the prospects to take a leap but they somehow ended up with a blueline that’s 95% as good as last year’s
No offense but boston is definitely a winner. Lindholm paired with Pasta is scary good plus getting some nasty in the back end is good for them. You have to pay to get good players.
Yeah, how do you call the Bruins losers with these signings? Are they overpaying? Maybe a little. But not for Zadorov. Are they gambling? Maybe a little. The most important question is: "Did they get better?" I would say yes. They had needs and they addressed them with players that fit their team. If Mike is calling the B's one of the top 4 biggest losers I can only assume he doesn't like the bruins and he's not being impartial in his analysis. Or he doesn't understand the parameters of the title of his video. But, according to Mike, the Islanders are "winners" because they made two deals for bottom 6 players that will not change the team's fate. Oh, and saved the team hundreds of thousands of dollars. Sorry, I'm taking Boston to win any and all games vs the islanders. (with the caveat that the B's actually sign Swayman). ala Charlie Sheen:"Winning!"
This dude does not know hockey at all the bruins had a much better offseason than islanders. You’re adding Anthony Duclair after getting bounced by car😂😂
i’ve never played hockey and i’m considering picking up the stick to play RHD, could probably get a bag with the contracts that are being thrown around 😂
Oilers are the biggest loser. Why? because they were dumb enough to resign Corey Perry. Now Edmonton won't be winning the Stanley Cup next year, that's for sure!
Good riundup as always. Esoecially agree on your take on the Capitals, Kraken, and Devils. Also agree Zadarov is expensive. He's a fine 3rd pairing borderline top-4 defenseman but was too hyped based on some highlight reel making hits and goals in this past playoffs. Very happy my Devils stayed away from him. Sabres ownershio are the biggest skinflints in hockey! They never spend to the cap to give all their kids a shot at tasting the playoffs. Penny wise abd pound foolish and a NYS-tax subsidy welfare team.
I'm perplexed that the ducks didn't do anything today. Especially after what Verbeek said about adding a top 4 D and top 6 RW he fell flat today. I think we need to start building our team soon so this is not looking good
As a Habs fan im very satisfied with the free agency so far. We sign Barré-Boulet to a minimum contract deal in the NHL which i think is nice. Maybe a 20ish point guy in Montreal seeing as how we probably put him in our bottom 6 for 70 games. And Slafkovsky a fantastic 8x7.6 million contract. To me. Reminds me of Mackinnon. Was a 1st overall pick coming off a 50 point season and then went on to have the best contract in the NHL value wise. Even if he dosent become a 120 point guy. A future 40 and 40 guy with good physicality and defense and high potential is a steal. Also feel like a winner because they reconized the playoffs arent happening and made 0 big signings. However next free agency i expect WAY more activity from the Habs.
@@Canessnz skjei is definitely better. better defensively, playoff producer, similar production just that ghost played PP1 and skjei PP2. remember the market will go up but ghost is definetly a good deal
The Oilers won't be the only team with 2 players with the same surname (Stu [goalie] and Jeff [winger, ex-Sabres] Skinner), with the Bruins (with Elias [centre] and Hampus [d-man] Lindholm [neither related to the other, but both originally from Sweden]) another.
@MikeBartner a defensive specialist who has signed with a team that has possibly one of the best defensive systems in the league. Plus it gives them depth down the middle where they were lacking it. I'm quite happy with him signing.
Nah hawks got teuvo hall bedard nazar kurashev bertuzzi going to make the hawks competitive this coming year and fighting for a wild card or better next year on cap no god book it
I would say this is more from the draft days but Utah has been quietly putting together some really decent depth today. They addressed the top 4 with Sergachev and Marino on day 2 of the draft and now Armstrong is filling in the cracks and I think they are gonna be a shocker come October
@@MikeBartner Yeah Bill Armstrong has quickly become one of my favorite GMs to pay attention to in the last couple years. I'll bet the move to Utah is gonna supercharge some of those guys
