I feel bad for the baby. Their father wants nothing to do with them, and their mother has successfully alienated himself from everyone in the family. The kid is going to have such a rough life with parents like that.

I feel bad for the sister's kid. She didnt choose to have scummy parents, but has a dad who wants nothing to do with them and a mother who cant support herself. If they dont mean too, she will be somewhat shunned by their family for a reason they doesnt understand. Eventually when they're older, theyll learn the truth of what their mother did and will have to live with that.

Now that has got to be the sickest revenge that I've seen in my entire life the only thing that could make that plan better is if you pretend that you love him again and then cheat on him so that he can experience the same pain that you felt that would pretty much be the cherry on top.

Wow. I wish I was that devious when my ex cheated on me while I was carrying his eldest daughter. Because like this girl's sister the other girl was pregnant my daughter and her eldest are 6 months apart. His excuse for even leaving me the morning after my daughter was born was that she didn't have anyone to take care if her but I still had my parents (and his but they were in denial about the girl he cheated with being the only guy she was with and it was a giant mess on its own) which given her mother was also alive and well only hurt more. Then when things weren't working out with his new chick after we had broken up shortly after I was cleared of my 6 week check he wants to get back woth me saying how he was wrong and shouldn't have done it etc (this was 10 years ago) and currently is no longer dating her either. She isn't the jerk for this. If my boyfriend found out something like this happened being the new boyfriend in all this he would seek out both my sister and the ex to ruin them more. my friend had an addict father too, who was abusive, and got divorced. A lot from crazy stories. His father even gained custody over him at one point. If this story is true the Ex is a massive piece of shit. He can't stay loyal to save his life. But him saying that he'll take all responsibility for the child as the father, yet didn't want to be with the sister anymore isn't him being a jerk. He doesn't have to be with the sister in order to be the father. OP and the sisters personal feelings aside if he takes care of his child and raise them right. But he also need a therapist to figure out why he can't stay loyal for very long in relationships, cause that could effect his relationship with his child, and the child's eventual outlook of relationships in the future.

Not the Jerk at all. Everything OP's sister is going through is a direct consequence of her actions. After all this, she's still pining for an abusive, manipulative cheater. She never even tried to apologise, or make amends. You can't expect even a shred of sympathy, if you don't even bother trying to mend fences. Not that I see how a sisterly relationship could ever be re-established after something like this. She is in a hell entirely of her own making. I only feel bad to the innocent child who drew the short straw, being born to a pair of garbage human beings. In OP's shoes, the only support I'd ever even consider offering is adoption. That is, assuming I could look past the kid's conception and I was in a position to take on parental responsibility. OP doesn't tick any of those boxes and she's in no way obligated to take on that responsibility. I just hope that poor child finds someone in their life who will treat them with kindness and support them.
