Sounds like he has cold feet due to feeling a lack of control in his life. I would talk it out and ask him if something's up, cause he could be projecting nonsense.

Dump him. He blames others for his actions, calls pretty basic honesty about your own needs as "manipulative", and feels little about making you feel bad. It's been four years, he's not going to marry you after this long, leave him.

I guess he has abandonment issues. He might have suffered hard rejections before and was conflicted about dating OP. The fact that he felt like he was in the wrong place for almost 4 years and did nothing about it is really concerning. He should definitely stop forcing himself to date a person he isn't romantically attracted to and try to solve his psychological problems. Easier said than done, but it is the best possible option.

What a piece of garbage scumbag. He leads a girl on and uses her for everything he _wants_ out of a relationship, yet doesn't want to commit to her. I could understand avoiding marriage because of the immense risk it poses to men these days, but if he can't even stay faithful to a single woman who loves him, he's part of the problem. This infestation of situationships is sick.

@@IkesPimpHand As true as that often is, the only thing wrong she did in this case was sleep with him first without any actual commitment between them, which is just another example of how completely warped and broken relationships in our culture are right now. People are set up for failure. The fact he has the nerve to resent her just because she didn't want to be thrown away like a used tissue is far more egregious. Being together and forging a secure bond is healthy.

@@Kageryushin I don't think that's the case here. I might obviously be wrong, but it looks like he doesn't mind the relationship what he minds is the dating. The going on dates and other stuff. Since he was talking about marriage choosing rings and picking a dog, it really doesn't sound like he isn't the relationship as a whole. There is something else here.
