hey rp after you got rid of the scatty the vids started slackin... not becuase of your car (which is badass) the videos are shorter and not as lit as they used to be but still a sub and will still keep watching
Still plenty of other things that came with the 1LE package: Recaro seats, HUD, Short Shifter, Suede interior parts, 3 heavy duty coolers, etc. Plus it can be switched back at any time.
You do realize that the regular SS has the same coolers as well. It's 75 lbs lighter than the 1LE and it's actually a better drag car. Buuttt.. with the 1LE, you do have the best of both worlds stock since the tire and size of the 1LE is leaps and bounds over the SS. If you really want handling and faster accl.. get lighter wheels. The 1LE rims although forged, it's 30 lbs. If you put a 24 lb rim, it will be quicker, revs faster and handles better
What was your treatment on the front/rear side markers? Did you just smoke them with film? My ZL1 is a week old and all black - would love to at least tone down the front amber.
Nice. She's going in for clear film in a few days, might ask him if that's something he can easily do while he's at it. Really enjoy your work. Great style and content. I will make a vid with the ZL1 but it's just out of my element enough that it will probably suck. :-)
Your "the stock tires are not too bad" comment is a huge understatement. The Goodyear Eagle Supercar F1's are a step above the new PS4's and almost compete with Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2's. They are considered very good street/track performance tires. Also your outer edge wear on the front tires is nothing to be concerned about, they probably just got a bit greasy with all the low speed high load cornering from the autocross. Their performance should come back after cleaning the edge with some higher speed cornering.
Please be careful with driving drag radials in the rain, its usual part of the equation when people crash their cars in the rain. Also, obviously a drag radial has a softer sidewall and is designed for drag racing, however, it might not be as bad as you think around a corner.
I have a set of Race Star Recluse wheels for my 1LE. 17's. Running 305 35 17 MT Thompson ET Street R's when I run it at the drag strip. Unfortunately, my clutch slips pretty bad on them when I launch (500+ whp), so drag racing is on hold until I get a new clutch. I have winter tires on now, but also have the GY Supercar G2's in the garage that are going back on soon. I noticed by Goodyears look different than what is on the 6th gens. Must be an updated version.
everyone complaining about this.. look. the nitto nt555r drag radials has the same stiff sidewall as the nt555r street tire. they just have an extremely sticky compound which makes them surprisingly good at handling for a drag radials so he didn't ruin the car....
Hey Riley I put some 305/35 20 on my s550 but the tire kinda sticks out like 1/2 inch or maybe 1 inch does yours stick out a little bit as well I know there two different cars but just wondering
People flipping out just bc you switched the set up of your tires lmao. Like you said, you can swap them again and take it to road course events then a few months later swap the rears and drag it. It's an all purpose car in my eyes, it does really good in the corners and it holds its own in the straights.
Looks like your passenger rear wheel is scuffed up at 2:35 around the bottom right corner near the caliper and the upper 11 o'clock position as well. Did your girl curb check your car?
Wait you made videos talking about you wanted more balance. LOL now you are back to straight line speed. I will repeat what I said when you bought the camaro, you should have bought a used HELLCAT!
Should have just gotten a wheel and drag radial setup and switched your wheels out when you get to the drag strip. Pretty stupid to daily drive on a drag radial
You bought had a challenger, got rid of it. Now you bought a Camaro 1LE, don't want to track because it eats tires, your views are down, and you want to drag it? Should have thought of that before you bought your Camaro. It is an awesome car to track. Views probably are down for other reasons, like that you have a Camaro.
-I had a *CHARGER* -I can track this car whenever I want with a change of tires...tires aren't permanent. -The Camaro has far better mod potential. -Views have gone UP.
RP Productions people just don't get the Camaro heritage bro. Camaros were born to perform in a straight line back in the 60s muscle car era. And plus u can run up on a little drag race on the street at any moment. I've never in my life been challenged to a "hey let's make some laps around these roads and see who's faster" BEAUTIFUL CAR BROTHA
I don't now how many views you have. But I thought you said since you tracked it the videos for that have went down compared to drag racing. That was why I commented if views is what you are wanting, and drag racing is getting you more views, why not stick with Dodge who is making true drag racing muscle cars while the Mustang and Camaro have went the road track route?
man. screw all the opinions some people don't deserve one..lol...Straight line is all you need. Although the 1Le is for auto cross but wtf its your money. Your 0-60 and 1/4 will be a BEAST. When you gonna do it agAin? They don't have a long life I was told but I would do it two, how much were they? And who the fuck brought the warranty up that's hilarious
REDZONE lol I read the warranty comment a second ago. That was funny. Yeah it's his $ so if he wants to spend $6,500 extra on a 1SS that gives u Recaro leather seats, Alcántara, FE4 suspension, HUD, forged wheels, extra coolers etc and can run it at both drag and auto cross and have a lot of fun is a great bargain.
RP Productions those nitto's are pretty crappy drag radial you should get Mt et street or some hoosier drag radial it'll be a night and day difference. I had 2 sets those 555r and they better than a average street tire but no where near a true drag radial there rubber is to hard
I have the same size Mickey Thompson Drag Radials on my car and I drive it in the rain all the time without issues. Obviously, you need to take it a little easier, but I've made a 500 mile one way trip in rain with no issues on DR.
I've had my Nitto G2's front and rear on for 2 1/2 months ago. They ride quieter than the stock Goodyear's. However, on wet roads, mine are very good if water is standing just a little bit. My Nitto's on dry roads, I can not get traction under a heavier throttle and I don't even mean hard laugh. They even break loose and my tail end slides when I nail the accelerator at 55-65 mph. At higher speeds, my car wants to slide all over my lane of the road with the Nitto G'2. 6 weeks prior to putting the Nitto's and my new wheels on, I had just replaced my stock GY's with a set of Michelin Pilot Sports. They were great on the road. Super quiet, great wet and dry traction and very stable at higher speeds. nothing like my G'2. I have looked into drags for mine as well. I ran the 555R's on my old 98 Z28 for 4 years. great traction IF they are heated up properly. Not many know how to do that. Most just sit there and "burn them down." That is NOT the way you heat them up. That is how you make them overheated and they still don't hook any better than stocks. I went thru 7 pair of them in 4 years on my 98, so I know how to heat them up. Once I learned how, I was laughing that car on the street with a 200 shot of nitrous and 3.73 gears in the rear end and never lost traction. I dare some of you guys to try that and still hook. The drags I have been looking at for my 50th I have now are the NT05's. Why? Because i plan to lower the car a little and I know I can get them in the 305/30 size like the G2's I have on my 1LE wheels on the car. BecauseI would have to go to the 305/35. The extra height may very well cause rubbing issues under harder cornering. I drive the Tail of the Dragon about 2 or 3 times a year with the Camaro group I'm a member of and that road is gard on your tires and suspension. The hard cornering will cause the rears to rub with the 35 series. I will pst something to back me as to why I say that. There is much bigger difference between 30 and 35 than most realize. If you drag race the car, you will most likely rub in the inner well of the rears at hard launch. I wish they made the 555R's in 305/30 because those are the ones i'm so familiar with, but I will end with the NT05's instead to eliminate tire rub. Here is the chart for the difference in size for the 305/30 to 305/35. With your car being lowered, you really need to take this into consideration. AND, coming back and looking at this again, you don't have the Camaro anymore. You have the Hellcat. Oh well. Here is the info anyway. I daily drove my heads cam stalled c6 vette on nitto drags for a couple years. They are decent in the rain, just have to use common sense when driving in heavier rain and watch for deeper standing water. They can last well over 10k, not the best for the track compared to MT,Hoosier, M&H. I have Toyo DR 315x18 now but will probably go to a MT this summer
Well, first time you go on wet you might change out those rear tires. Nitto has a set of Motivo's where you can drive in the rain. Have 315/35 R20 on back of the 2012 Camaro. Have not driven in rain yet. Says 60K miles. I like to drive home if it rains
how are you keeping rock chips and stuff from getting on your paint, mainly from the wide rear tires? i know you paint corrected your car when you first got it, but have you gotten chips that you had to repair since then? a lot of people are getting chips from the wide/stick rear tires.
I run a similar setup on my 5th gen SS. I run 305/45/18 NT555R on rear and 265/50/18 NT555 on front. I daily them. The NT555R is the best daily drag radial. Also be sure to run lower than stock PSI on rears so they don't wear fast. Otherwise the rears are going to wear out in the middle faster. I run 24-26 PSI cold on them. I get approx 15k miles out of them.
Beautiful car bro. If it's in the funds I would maybe go out and get a drag set up wheels and tires. Have a lighter rotating mass and a smaller rim in the back would help a lot for launches so the tire could wrinkle a little and it would have a wider foot print
Any noticeable degradation in ride or handling on the road with the 320 tread up front? doesn't seem like it would be a terrible trade off if they're expected to last that long
They are horrible as rear tires but they're fine for the front. They're actually more of an autocross tire, meant for corning rather than straight line performance. Hence the reason they're fine for the front.
Well I'm early... Sick tire setup, looking forward to see how your times will change. One thing though, it really does look like they scratched your wheel though 2:33 Regardless...keep up the great work bud 🤙
They look awesome! The lowering of the car and the radials are a perfect fit! Alot of people voiced concerns of the car being low enough. It not being "low enough" made for the perfect fit! Great look Riley - Mike
Since you have never owned either of those how would you know? I have owned all 3 the 555r's are by far the cheapest and the worst DR. The NT05R and MT SS Is by far the best. If you want a better tire for rain, drag racing and cornering, Then you should have gone with the R888. Look at all the super high HP cars in the 1/2 and see what they run. 90% are R888. You are young and still have alot to learn my friend.
Regardless of your opinions you called the 555R's "cheap shit" when the price difference is negligible. I've talked to many people about tire options are based on their personal experiences the 555'R's are the best fit for ME. If you don't like them cool, but so far I'm thoroughly enjoying them.
