Commander Bill Hardy was a United States Navy fighter ace in WWII. He is famous for becoming an ace in a day and was awarded the Navy Cross for extraordinary bravery in combat. He shot down 7 Japanese aircraft while flying F6F-5 Hellcats and F4U Corsairs from the aircraft carrier USS Hornet.

I call my recording with Commander Hardy a "chat" rather than an interview. It is very informal and was made so I could write out the transcript and refer back to it later. It was not intended to be broadcast. I hope you will forgive me for this and enjoy the chat for what the commander says, rather than judge the video on the poor quality of the recording and the interview technique.
I voice-Skyped Commander Hardy because I was unable to see him face-to-face. I photographed most of the pilots in my project myself; however, Michael Schoenholtz in Portland, Oregon, photographed all my American pilots.
I spoke to the commander as part of a project I am doing where I photograph combatants (40 so far ... and counting) and get their stories for use in photo books I am writing.
I sincerely hope you enjoyed my chat with this heroic man.
And please like, subscribe and share my video and my channel.
Kindest regards
