you should use sunscreen every day even if you're not going outside!!! the uva (or aging) rays still come in through windows! and sunscreen helps heal acne. i recommend just getting a moisturizer with spf already in it and getting a stick for reapplication.
depends. if you are in direct sunlight through your window, and you can feel the warmth then yes, but if you stay away from your window then i would rather not apply since it isn't necessary
Quick tip, the sunscreen is already a moistruisering sunscreen, so you could skip the moisturiser part if your face would get too oily or shiny because that's what happens when you I guess apply too much products on your face😊.
alsoooo putting on moisturizer when your skin is still damp will increase the absorbance. aaaaand if you have oily skin, double cleansing will help break that down and clear those pores so i recommend that for every night wash. love the video!
@@freebooterluckless you first clean your face with an oil cleanser (with your skin dry. to melt makeup/sunscreen/etc), then you wash it with water and use a water and with your skin still wet use a water based cleanser (a "normal" cleanser). use the second cleanser for at least 30 second. I do it for around 1 min. I only use it at night before my skincare. I only use water when I get up, then apply my morning skincare you can Google or watch RU-vid videos about it, just put "how to double cleanse"
The only thing is, if it’s a chemical sunscreen and you apply while damp then it could cause irritation. So it’s up to you how to do it depending on your skin condition 😊
@@freebooterlucklessKinda late reply but double cleansing is a method to more throughly remove oils from the face. He mentioned in the video that in this process, an oil cleanser is used and then a normal water based cleanser after. The oil cleanser helps removes any oils on your skin and the water based cleanser helps remove dirt. It’s best for people who either have super oily skin or wear/apply a large amount of products on the face during the day (makeup/sunscreen).
Great video!!!! Truly well done! As a skin care enthusiast, you’ve given us a well sorted out routine. I’ve see a few videos by fitness content creators who are simply pushing products to their viewers having never once disclosed their own skin care journey or skin care acumen. I love and appreciate the honesty behind this video. Thank you for keeping it real 🤍🫶💯
At the moment I’m really struggling to get back to where I was, I thought I looked good but after injuries and bad habits I’ve fallen into a somewhat hole. Going into year 12, I really want to finish this year not only happy with my marks, but also my physique. Your videos help me understand what a realistic journey is and how shit it could get, but overall how fun and worth it it’ll be in the future. Thanks for continuing to be a creator who shares their lowest times but also their highest. Keep making the best videos and don’t forget the lives you’ve inspired.
I went through the same experience after breaking my arm bouldering. Diet and fitness went down the drain. One bit of advice I'd give is to keep your chin up and stay positive, it'll make the journey much easier. You got this.
Benzoyl peroxide should be used to prevent spots, not treat existing spots. It definitely prevents acne, but if a spot has already formed then benzoyl peroxide will not make it disappear quicker. It is very effective at preventing breakouts though, but just take it slow at first as it can cause skin to peel. This stops after a short time though.
This is wonderful, it is very simple for the majority of people. But, let me help to clear some things here. There are 3 main ingredients for acne bustin which is Salicylic Acid, Benzoyl Peroxide, and Retinol (Retinoid). Salicylic Acid is used for exfoliating, killing acne causing bacteria in your pores, solves blackheads whiteheads, and increasing skin cell turnovers (might resulting in a temporarily skin purge, but that’s okay) Benzoyl Peroxide is a little bit more irritating. It basically demolish and straight up kill acne causing bacteria. Usually used in a spot treatment products. Retinol (Retinoid) is derived from vitamin A which is used for mild exfoliating, acne prevention (basically making your pores inhabitable for bacterias), anti aging properties, and mild anti inflammatory properties. Aaand…don’t forget your moisturizer because those 3 ingredients would be irritating, especially the higher the dosage or percentage. Keep in mind that this is still the tip of the iceberg, and be careful to not use it without understanding it because it can do the opposite by destroying your skin barrier.
I used to get super oily until I switched to a really gentle hydrating cleanser and hydrating hyaluronic acid serum while on tretinoin. I always use SPF+ too and now my skin is perfect after 10+ years of acne!! (:
Remember, sun screen ALWAYS with a retinoid. It makes your skin extremely applicable to sun damage and if you use a retinoid and no sun screen you are doing your skin way more damage than good.
As someone who used something similar to accutane called roacutane i honestly don’t recommend it to anyone because of all those sides effect and because it really might not be that usefull in the long run, i did one cure that probably lasted a few months acne got better but a few month later i got my acne back to as usual. I took it when i was 16 and it might had a bad effect on my height, and ive seen several other people claiming the same effect, it might be a coincidence but still not worth the risk. If i had chance to give any advice to my younger self, i would tell him to not use that shitty product. Honestly my own acne got a whole lot better better with age and now i know that some food are forbidden if i want a great skin. Like you said in your video acne sucks, and the people who says otherwise are always the one with a flawless skin 😂😂.
Yeah I would agree with you. I almost went on accutane as a teen because my acne was so severe. However the side effects can be potentially even more severe for us girls, so my dermatologist ended up deciding against it in the end. I would say if someone feels they have nothing to lose and no other option, and are educated about all the side effects then they should choose to do it. But I would also advise against it more strongly for girls in general.
the potential side effect of depression from accutane is very much possible so be very self-aware when using it. I took accutane during highschool in the most stressful period of year 11-12 and l don't think accutane was the main cause for my own depression though l never got myself checked for a diagnosis as l just didn't care about myself enough. It also did cause my joints to feel a bit weaker and my skin to become really dry where anytime l did intense physical activity l got really itchy for some reason, causing me to avoid exercises altogether and gain fat which prob affected my mood as well. If you are already feeling miserable l think it just worsen's your mental state however everyone's different! My acne definitely has completely gone and l'm in a better state of mind being off accutane now. Even planning to compete in a bodybuilding show in may this year, Lee Lem being a big inspiration, thank you for all the food cutting tips, life savers for sure 9 weeks out from showday.
If you do your research skincare WILL work. Skin is an organ like any other and acne is an infection. My face literally looked like the surface of the moon, and now i look amazing. People think im younger than i am, and my face no longer hurts!
@@MrTroydeboyThat’s true. Even if you know the big important products to have (retinoid, sunscreen, cleanser, moisturizer) it can still be confusing to pick some out. Typically, the most popular ones in their category should work for most people, so Lee doing research by looking at reviews was a good idea. If the products you tried don’t work then do trial and error or if you have too much trouble then consult a derm honestly. It was a process but finding the right skincare for myself was possible with research and trial and error. Truly skincare is never going to be one size fits all because everyone has different skin and your skin and body will react to things differently than other people. It’s the cost of being a genetically diverse species. 😂
I’m not a dermatologist, But as smn who’s been on the skincare stuff for quite sometime. I think you have way too many exfoliating stuff😅, you don’t really need the spot treatment nor the benzoyl proxied if you’re already using a Tretinoin, try adding a calming toner instead. Good video though I really enjoyed it 😊
I took Accutane at 15 years old. I was coming off late Chicken Pox and the breakouts lasted for so long my mum got worried about how I looked and knew it was affecting me. So praise the lord mum for taking me to the doctor to get proper treatment. (It took a month for results to show).
Accutane is quite effective but keeping up with topical tretionoin after the fact helps a lot if your skin can tolerate/if you are able to access it. That and finding a good sunscreen.
Lee, I’m dreaming of being a bodybuilder and officially started my real bulk today. I really loveeee sushi and noodles (instant, take away or made by myself) now I’m going into diet I was wondering: how much would you recommend to eat those foods in a bulk/ cut and bodybuilding prep phrase? I think they are sometimes good carb sources but I can’t afford a coach. Could you answer me ? 😊❤
Bro I had perfect skin till I was 30, and got breakdown after 30, when I cut away sugar. Tried all, and what helped me the most was aloe vera masks. :D
I watched the video, but I still want help from you guys. Currently suffering from non-cystic adult acne in the lower third area of my face. It will always be white pustules that go away quick but are annoying as hell due to how it looks, not to mention the PIE. I cleanse morning and night (I’ve only used SA cleansers intended for acne prone skin) Hydrate with hyaluronic acid, retinol at night, and sunscreen. I will sometimes ditch the HA moisturizer for the effaclar duo SPF during the day. Diet would seem like the obvious culprit to me. If I have one bit of something cooked in vegetable oil, it’s over for me (so everything not cooked by me) One bit of dairy? It’s over. Avocado? Almonds? Nuts? Pus overload. I’m not willing to give up most food that isn’t even junk, I’d rather die. I’ve done it and my skin was clear, but as I said, I’d rather die than just live off of poultry, meat, fish, veggies and brown rice cooked in coconut oil and salt! Now, I’ve eaten anything and everything when visiting colder drier cities, and my skin is clear as hell! Where I live, it’s heat and humidity, and if there’s no heat, there’s still humidity. Surely there has to be a trick for this stupid weather bullshit!?! Anyone? Tretinoin is discarded, fuck that uncertain expensive drug filled with side effects.
It depends on skin condition honestly. Having a barrier between your skin and the differin can really help reduce chance of irritation and breaking out if you are highly prone to purging and have sensitive skin (like my brother). Over time as you build tolerance than you can start to apply more directly to skin.
If you are someone who struggles with acne or congested skin be very aware of the moisturisers and oil cleansers you use!!! Some oil cleansers and moisturisers contain certain oils (such as coconut oil) that are comedogenic, meaning they clog the pores. Clogged pores = blackheads and build up of bacteria, resulting in acne. That is why you should always follow oil cleansers up with regular, water-based cleansers. Also, especially if you have sensitive or irritated skin, do not rub your face with an oil cleanser/ regular cleanser too hard or for too long as it will strip your skin and cause irritation and potentially worsen skin concerns! ALSO!! If you use any form of retinoid/ retinal, salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide, ALWAYS WEAR SUNSCREEN DURING THE DAY!! These products can cause skin sensitivity to uv rays which can result in irritation to the skin!! Besides, you don't want sun damage to your beautiful little faces anyway, so slap that sunscreen on daily!
You’re right. My shave soap was comedogenic and had coconut oil as the second ingredient. I double cleanse either way but still struggling with some acne a little. And yes, I think the most important thing in a skincare routine is consistent application of sunscreen. I always try to wear sunscreen every two hours. You just cannot leave it in your car!! I always keep it on me and it’s the best preventative anti-aging you can get. Skin 1004 has been my HG. Retinoids like tretinoin and tazarotene are where things get exciting. Hopefully with my continued protocol my skin will clear up! Good points!!
Pretty well said. Overall one thing I would like to bring up to you is that comedogenicity is a bit of a flawed scale. I used to vehemently believe in it too but did some more research in recent years on it, and found out just how flawed the tests for the scale are. It’s way too much to get into in a comment but I encourage you to look at the debate and form your own opinions on it. But yes. Sunscreen sunscreen sunscreen 👍
For me, i just quit sugar, go non-strict carnivore/keto diet, no acne for 7 years. skincare-wise i only use soothing cream for sensitive-irritated-dry skin in the summer. but no acne whether i use it or not. so, $0 on skincare.
@@l_eel_em actuallyyy, if you use it over moisturizer it still works but will prevent any irritation. use it under moisturizer if your skin can tolerate it and wait at least 10 minutes for you skin to fully dry to prevent irritations and theeeen use moisturizer
My routine Morning 1. Cerave oily skin cleanser 2. Shower 3. Moisturiser after shower 4. Matte sun screen Night 5. Same cleanser 6. Shower 7. Same Moisturiser 8. Retinol Yes it ends up being 200-250 dollars annually but it’s worth it imo
Thanks for the video! I'm getting some to try out, although not sure if the affiliate links work for US customers. It takes me to the AUD amazon and when I switch back to US I think the link is lost :(
Love the video Great to see you share your secrets to looking soooo cute, but idk if you’ve made a video about how to not go way past calories at a party. If you have any advice it could be really helpful for me. Love you king
Bank calories as much as you can, and if you do go over, then dont stress and get back track the next day! I made a recent video on valentines day about how to track calories on a night out ☺️
Technically you don’t *need* a toner but if you feel that your toner has benefits for you and/or makes your skincare more pleasant or effective then I don’t see why not 😅 Honestly if I were to say big most important three, swap out the toner with a sunscreen because if not using one, then a lot of your skincare efforts may be nullified. 😢
I remember breaking out when I started working out due to the higher intake of dairy products like whey protein, and once I switched to plant based my acne stopped :.)
I feel you same here every time I see a pimple on my face even though I do skin care I get so demotivated sometimes it starts to become a troublesome waking up every day and the first thing you do is apply your skin care and no seeing results but I know that consistency is the key one day or day one ❤
Nah but the sun screen one is legit me 🤣 I left the sunscreen ON MY DESK and I always always forgot to put it on EVERY SINGLE TIME. Also I'm a fellow asian and I think asian are way more prone to have oily skin especially in the summer 😭😭
if you want a really good moisturizer, just use pure aloe vera gel its super cheap and work really well. Plus its all natural so its really good for your skin.
I'm an AVON girl cos of my mama 😂 She buys there a lot back in Philippines. Hmm I dunno if canada has AVON cos mom stopped buying since we moved here 😅
Mine is very simple, use a daily face wash, sometimes in the morning, always at night, then moisturize, eat a lot of cucumbers and stay hydrated, get more sleep and I've noticed my breakouts/pimples have severely decreased
Lee is awesome bro this guy is always so helpful as a 15 year old he's my fav and the fact that he's Australian makes things even better for me because I can copy whatever he eats for like bulking plans since I'm so underweight because in Australia the stuff he eats is straight from aussie stores. And his workouts too. Unfortunately rn though I'm going through recovery because I've had too many back injuries I currently have functional scoliosis so I'm losing muscle and fat going back to being underweight and School started so it's super stressful rn but hopefully I can get back on the grind.
