I raised a gay son alongside a straight son. And I can promise you that they are born and not made. Their path is hard enough without their parents negatively judging them or wanting them to be somebody they are not. It was a huge shock to me. I had no idea where it came from. He was in his last year of veterinary medicine. My younger son had gained admission to medical school - success by most parents definition. And then at 23 years old, as he was about to graduate veterinary medicine - and had a job lined up, he dropped that bomb on me. And as hard as it was, I just wanted him to be accepted for the person he was, and I wanted him to have someone to love. And of all the mistakes I had made in my life - that wasnt one of them.

Is a gay child really the biggest fear is some parents?

It would be nice if the church took back the true representation of the rainbow. Gods promise to never destroy us with water, not a lifestyle...

*I lived as a homosexual male for over 18 year* . That life led me into alcoholism, sex and drug addictions. Almost every homosexual male I have known in my almost 20 years in that life, had many things in common . They , like myself, were victims of same sex molestations and we're introduced to sex in their early childhood and had no biological father in their home , or the Father they had, took no interest in them . Most of these gay men , including myself , modeled and Identified with the females in our lives . Praise Jesus Christ , I was saved and delivered from that life in 2008 with no regrets and no desires to return to that vomit 🤮 .

I think that this topic should not be made about you as a parent. That’s selfish and self centered which may be the reason you never got to know your child to begin with. Many parents here seem to first think of themselves and how they feel about it (but act like it’s about God) rather than thinking of the child who is actually dealing with it. I also don’t think the church or believers who have preconceived notions and inherent disgust surrounding this topic are the best people to teach on it. Furthermore, many scripture interpretations used on this topic can be debated. Above all else we are commanded to love. Why we put a greater emphasis on this particular act than a host of other acts we commit daily is very interesting. If you found out that that same child had sex with their long term opposite sex significant other, you might be disappointed but it wouldn’t change your life because you likely did the same and more when you were their age. The church can be very hypocritical in that way. If you as a parent have a life shattering reaction to this, I challenge you to ask yourself why YOU feel this way.

For the love of God, please don't abandon or disown them in the name of "Christianity".

Showing LOVE is such a big deal for this topic. Shaming is so hard. As a child that has struggled with this, I have my own shame towards this issue. For a parent to shame and disown me only hurts more and turned me away more. This is truly a hard topic. Thank you brother Allen

This hits home! Two of six adult children living the "lifestyle". The first and the last... My oldest daughter and my youngest son. I love them so dearly, I'd give my life for all of my children... But Jesus has made it clear that ONLY HE can save them... So I pray as I have always done... When they fell and skinned their knees, when the disappointments of life rained down, when all I had done, had not done, when said all the apologies...everything wasn't enough... I gave my babies over to Jesus and I can only wait and hope but, know for sure that His answer is always on time and always what is needed.

I'm a gay man. I grew up in the church. I've been into guys since a young age. I prayed to Jesus for years to try to turn me straight. I was baptized. I fasted. I prayed. I read scripture. I talked to other Christians. I'm still homosexual. Since I started becoming honest about my same-sex attraction, I got more clarity and became a better man. I'm healthy and well. I'm not a drug user, alcohol, hoe, or any of the stereotypes or gay men. I don't cross dress and I have no desire to be a woman. I'm just a man who happens to be homosexual.

Being gay is ok it is no sin because it doesn't hurt no one whoever think being gay is a sin is evil

What Is like to be heterosexual? To not be gay? Is it something you've every thought about or just something that's as natural as breathing. To listen to videos like this and not be problem in the stories.

Allen Parr, at times throughout this video, you assume that sexual orientation is a choice. What is your evidence for this assumption? Assuming you're straight, did you choose to be straight?

Don't send them to the gay conversion things my friend was so depressed after he killed himself and I read into and its common for that to happen. If you love your kids give them love and scripture. And pray for them but dont send them to the conversion camps

Wow, I am so saddened that we as christians haven't evolved more than this. Thank God that my heavenly father who is Jesus does fully except and love me unconditionally. So thankful I had parents who taught me that very thing...since a very early age including after I decided to stop wrestling with the fact that I was gay. I'm so thankful that my relationship, understanding and walk with God has deepened while being who I am. Not perfect, still human but a greater understanding of who I am in him. See God doesn't care that I am gay, he cares about me. Relationship with me. I feel his presence in every part of my life. I feel the gift that is holy spirit and pray that my steps be ordered of him every day and know they are. See, I talk with my father I know him, walk with him. I know how he feels concerning me. This reeks of selfishness. "I'm hurt because they aren't living the dreams and desires I had for them." It's not about you. It's about them. Just love them and move on.

i respect your video, but if God made someone gay, he didn't make a mistake. one cannot choose who are they attracted too. As a christian who is gay, i cannot choose one day that i am going to like women and have an attraction to them. Nobody knows why God makes people LGBT+, but he does and continues to do so. I think maybe instead of worrying for the parents, we should take a step back and think about the child. There is a reason many people struggle to come out of the closet (some never do): because they are afraid of the backlash, getting kicked out, loosing jobs, loosing family, friends. But they never loose God. We as a society, especially churches who are against LGBT+, need to remind ourselves that we shouldn't judge other by their sexuality, and keep an open mind and heart to everyone. God bless.

Gay is not a lifestyle anymore than being heterosexual is a lifestyle. We are who we are. It's not a choice it is quite honestly the way they're created. The church has had it wrong and still does. Children aren't struggling with their sexuality, their struggling to live up to your expectations!

God loves us, CHRIST LOVES US! When there are challenges as this, the first thing to do is not to condemn, because Christ did not condem us when we were coming to Him and repenting of our sins. So it gives us no right to do such a thing. Prayer, Trusting the Lord, Spending time with the Lord, and keep reminding them who the Lord is, and what He continues to do. I think in the generation, ppl a part of the LGBTQ, was pushed away as less and so the reaction and became of Christians condemning, they did not know how to feel comfort in the Christian community. I used to always feel it would be so unfair to be with someone because of image, not because you truly love them. To connect spiritually and not in a fleshly manner seems to be so hard for people. Some have feelings and don’t wanna be that way and don’t understand why they have those feelings, I am for one but I try to not engage in anything. I’m single and don’t want a corrupt relationship so I’m happy alone but I do have sad times of not having someone else but don’t wanna go against God.

Tell ur child “thank u 4 telling me” it encourages that ur child will keep coming 2 u. Ask questions like Allen said, love ur child unconditionally and speak the truth in love and gentleness. Remember 2 b compassionate as this is a hard thing 4 ur child 2 struggle with. Be compassionate and loving but don’t neglect the truth. It is so important that u love ur child and u show ur child that u love them and care about them and r praying 4 them, so that one day u don’t find them hanging in their room, but can help lead them 2 true repentence

This is a hard topic to tackle truly in these days and times. I really think parents and the kids should not approach this as if it's the end of the world. No one is unredeemable. God has all power and you can get through this. He will lead you. Pray and seek His guidance. And always love your child first no matter what. That love is what's going to get them through. If your child is still young, move to a rural area. Control access to the internet. Private or home school. Once the worldview is formed, difficult to change. If a young person reads this, a father’s advice is commit to no sex before marriage. Don’t listen to the world. Make up for lost time when you have a healthy wonderful marriage.

What about Christians like Colton Underwood (he was the Bachelor who came out as gay recently). He said he tried to "pray the gay away for years" because he didn't want to be gay, so what do we do with that? Why would God not answer his prayers?

Be disappointed if you want but you must remember that we are your children and we need you. I cannot change who I am, you can change how you treat me. I can tell you that one of my greatest fears, one that makes me cry myself to sleep every night, is knowing that none of my family will be present at my wedding, that if I ever get married or medically transition, I will essentially be forced to be cut off from them. I know that you think you are helping us, but you aren't, you're hurting us. Your greatest fears shouldn't be us being openly queer, it should be our death. Do you have any idea how painful it is to be openly suicidal for years, and have your parent who knows that you are queer and knows how hard that is tell you that they don't care if you kill yourself? This kind of rhetoric is exactly why trans youth have such a high suicide and suicide attempt rate. "I can only imagine the pain of having a gay child", but have you ever thought about how we feel? This came at a good time for me. My son told me and my husband he does not believe anything he was taught at the church he grew up in and Jesus cannot possibly be the only Way. He adamantly told me he would NEVER believe in a God who sends people to hell. Even stated the Jeffrey Dahmers of the world should be in heaven. I spent the whole night telling the Lord I was sorry I failed as a parent and He now has to pick up the ruins. I'm very confident that God will redeem this situation and I will trust Him for my son's eternity. His soul is God's after all not mine. I enjoy your channel and watch often.

We all have to be born again anyways. Hopefully that child finds Christ and personally I wouldn't abandon my kid because that's wrong, but don't expect me to support certain things that lifestyle brings.

1. Being gay is THEIR choice not yours, whether they decide to be gay or not isn't up to a parent, they aren't your objects to make or pressure them to live the way you want them to. 2. Your child isn't your inanimate legacy trophy, you don't get to push your dreams & aspirations onto them. You may have dreams & aspirations for them but if they want no part of it then tough luck, their life is their own to decide to do with not yours. 3. For a religion that boasts about free will pressuring your kid to make the personal life choices & decisions you want them to instead of what they choose for themselves isn't really allowing free will is it? Your kid being gay is a worst fear & nightmare? Of course controlling parents who wants a kid to live their life the way the parent's want & be their moral & legacy trophy would have that reaction, heck forbid they make personal decisions for themselves that contradict your religious beliefs & wants. The parents can be disappointed, in pain, & in heartbreak all they want, they don't own their kids lives & future. Personal lifestyle & life choices aren't up to the parent, kids are not objects to satisfy your emotional states & desires with. Just because you gave birth & raised the kid doesn't give you the right to dictate their personal life choices & lifestyles as if they're your clone. If your kid's personal free will sexual preference choice is that immensely devastating & disappointing because it conflicts with your wants & expectations for them then you shouldn't have a kid to begin with. Signs 1-4 are about transgenderism which is in actuality the mental disorder Gender Dysphoria that's been socially accepted & normalized as a gender despite being a mental disorder, not homosexuality. Not every single lesbian acts & dresses as a dude & not every gay guy dresses & acts like a girl, that's Hollywood pop culture driven nonsense. Sign 5? So because they prefer to mainly to have friends of the opposite sex it most likely means they're gay? I prefer to & have more female friends than male friends, my sister prefers to & has more male friends than female friends. Neither of us are remotely gay at all. Corrective conversations? So their personal choice to be gay contrary to your wants & desires for them is a family crime that needs correcting now? Don't let them have free will to choose now, it's only about what you want for them not what they choose for themselves. If a phantom religious deity designed people to be a certain way then there is no free will as you can't ethically & morally choose to be anything but that specific way. Wow those next 6 questions are quite the 3rd degree interrogation type of very personal put on the spot questions. Didn't know you had to know their personal life completely inside & out. Hoe would a stranger like it if I grilled them like that about their private life? Oh that's right, kids are inanimate objects & chore slaves who don't get to have any personal privacy unlike human being adults. You can have a relationship & marriage without having sex fir reproduction that's the advantage of humans inventing contraceptives. Gay couples can quite easily adopt, reproductive sex isn't required for a relationship or marriage. Planting a seed? Or emotionally manipulating them over time to have your viewpoints? Raising kid from birth in religion is a form of indoctrination just as deviant sexual grooming is. Religious preference just as sexual are personal choices a kid should make for themselves. It's why my sister & I aren't Christian, because my parents tried to forcibly raise & indoctrinate us as Christians instead of letting us make the choice on whether we wanted to be Christians or not for ourselves. If any phantom deity no matter what religion they originate from can't prove they exist? Then they're not worthy of allegiance & love no more than a teddy bear is. Yeah choosing for themselves of their own free will their sexual preference is really a "poor decision" by them. Psalm 22:6 is all about encouraging indoctrination. Fpr example I could take that verse change it's origin & use it to create a cult. As a certain WW2 dictator said, "He who owns the youth owns the future." What better way to own the future than to groom them from birth to have your personal belief system instead of deciding for themselves what belief system they want to have.

I am a Christian who struggles with SSA and it is really hard to see how a lot of the church addresses it. The biggest thing people need to understand is that accepting a person, doesn't mean you condone every single thing they do. Salvation is by grace through faith ALONE, repenting of sins is something that comes AFTER salvation. Get people saved first, then worry about what sins they have going on.

Im a 16 year old gay person. Im not christian though i respect peoples religion. Let me make it clear. At a young age you can TOTALLY as a kid realize your sexuality our gender identity. I knew when i was 4 that i was gay and ive never looked back. I think the mindset that american christians hold today about lgbtq is DEEPLY destructive. So please have an open mindset to lgbtq+ children and seek help if you need any.

I disagree a bit with number 4 as I was raised a 'tom boy's as my Dad wanted a boy. I preferred boys games n did boys stuff but no way am I lesbian n never thought that. So not all signs are true. I'm glad I was like that as I am more independent to fix my car if I get a flat tyre or basic service or change wiper blades etc.
