Bro, it took me 11 1/2 months to find the right wire harness for my car so I feel the struggle of finding parts

981 GT4 owner (so manual) - I'd keep the 991.1 GT3RS between the two because the PDK is super engaging on the street still and when you do go to the track it's perfection.

Might need to use the Green Cars key cause it’s the ECM from the green one

I also prefer GT3's wings over RS's. For the 991 GT3, TJ needs a MR carbon wing and front lip!

All V.A.G cars you can buy the replacement harnesses with everything to fit, you can even buy for example if you break a headlight bracket you can buy a new bracket that comes with the full repair kit instead of having to buy a full headlight, they really do think of everything

If you sell the uv purple 991.1. You’ll regret it. Especially, god forbid, anything happens to the person you received it from. Keep the .1 and enjoy the manual while you have it.

Selling parts of the wiring harness and even individual wires is pretty common on German cars. BMW will sell you the same thing for their cars. It's great in case you car is a victim of rats or any other cause of wiring harness damage. No need to replace the whole thing, just order and replace the affected area.

The 997 Manual is going to be bad ass and you're process of elimination is absolutely correct. If only Rob could get to the database and find copies of all the different harness schematic versions to look at and compare the color code lists it would give you correct pin numbers & usage for your purple and black leftovers...😁 All shared grounding is called the "Ground Buss" and can sometimes cause abnormal senser readings if any one of the sensers ground wires or signal wires for that matter has a loose/bad resistance difference back to the main ground buss or the signal pin. One trouble shooting idea in case you ever have any is to set your meter to true Ohms not continuity beep and read the true Ohm resistance back to the main ground or the signal pin. Small differences are normal depending on the length of wire Ect...but larger ohm readings and intermittent readings (while wiggling different parts of any harness) can tell you a lot.

You have to keep the Purple RS, it was a gift from Sabrina and the story behind the car just makes it the cherry on top

Crimp instead of soldering wires in the car, solder only if there's not other way, soldered wires becomes a weak point because the wires are prone to being pulled, vibration from the chasis/engine.

All I’m saying is I think the best decision for now, is to give it some time and see how the GT3 build comes out. Better gauge on the situation and decision making that way. The story behind the 3RS is very close/personal.

Dillon is correct about the wiring diagram be8ng vague. Porsches parts system is exactly the same. If you look your U.V. 911 by the Vin it is going to bring up almost all options for that chassis per catagory.(breaks, body, enegine, trim, etc...)

In general you never solder wiring for sensors, it will change the resistance of the wire and mess up the readings at the ECU. Crimp connectors only.

I may be late to the party, but from BRZ boys to GT3 boys with you and Calvin would make this a whole circle moment.

Keep the manual. You're going to be customizing it to what you want. The 1 of 1 RS will be MUCH easier to sell and get a good dollar for too.

I would keep the 991.1 RS for sure. The Ultraviolet looks soo good and an RS goes soo much harder than a regular GT3.

The fact that you didn't have anyone looking over the engine bay when the battery was first hooked up as well as when the key was first turned on to make sure there were no wires smoking or burning wires smell is mind boggling. Luckily, you dodged a bullet it seems but that's a risky move.

keep both. The .2 is already a Frankenstein build, you could go further down the outlaw route with just a wraparound ducktail, like in the more recent NFS games! Yes, both are really close, but so different at the same time. Keep em. Or else you will probably regret not keeping both. Plus the .2 RS engine was completely revamped over the .1 engine.

gt3 rs ecu is gonna stop u from cranking if u're using the gt3 key. All parts of the immobilizer needs to be swapped. But i think it also needs some reprogramming due to auto-manual conversion

I’m no expert on Porsche but other cars I’ve played with the wiring / trans was on a wrx. Two things to check over. When car transmission goes into R it grounds out to activate the reversing camera. When you started the Porsche it asked for auto trans to go into park. You don’t have that loom / switch active using a manual shifter?

Keep both. PDK is pretty special in the canyons and traffic, and the 1:1 is a better car overall. Maturing as an enthusiast is appreciating the special features of a car in spite of more performance available for a price. Why do e46 m3 guys love their cars despite them being relatively slow by modern standards?

I'll keep both, and turn the manual 911 into a "race car", modding it with cool parts over time and maybe getting a Streethunter widebody kit to make it look even cooler.

If you have to get rid of one, your own preference will guide you, but if you're looking at it as a long term investment, the purple car- being a one off, as you explained in the clips vod- will definitely be the value choice.

Sit with the dot 2 for a few weeks and drive both during this time - it’ll be hard to take the dot 2 when Sabrina killed it with gifting the purp! That’s what you’ll have to gauge it by, that feeling when you first drove the purp and what that moment meant, just so you know, that moment means the world to Sabrina too, so taking the dot 2 over the purp has to beat that sensation Sabrina gifted you bro.

For the sake of traffic driving and constantly clutch working i would pick the automatic pdk for daily driving. The manual is cool for the analog feeling but man pdk is more convinient for daily commuting

Only one of very few drivers cars that I would say is actually better with a dual clutch (specifically the PDK. It’s just so good).

RS wing would apply a lot more stress to the rear lid possibly why the GT3 has carbon hinges.

I have a strong feeling that if you got rid of the purple RS that Sabrina got you, you would have the deepest regret. Yes your blood sweat and tears went into the manual, but you've sold plenty of project cars that have tons of your time and effort in too. You can ALWAYS swap the Purple to manual. Keep it.

If you decide you prefer the manual transmission but want to keep the purple gt3, could you manual convert the purple one & sell the red .2 as manual? Or swap the transmissions between the 2 vehicles and sell the red .2 with the PDK transmission?

I remember seeing a Porsche ad a while ago saying that they will do maintenance/replace broken parts on literally ANYTHING Porsche has ever produced. Even the tractors they made in the 30s😂 Porsche customer service is crazy.

Sup Teej! The red GT3 is awesome, and you've done an epic job rebuilding it even though that wasn't originally the plan. The GT3RS is a more special car at the end of the day. It's got its rarities AND it also holds big sentimental value outside of you too. Sabrina bought you that car dawg! If I could've ever got that from a partner I'd never even contemplate selling it.. I get you run a business but this one's a bit separate from all that. Sell the red GT3, make some money and use some of it to put a manual trans in the 3RS if the manual REALLY is so much better. But don't sell that purple GT3RS! Love yall

Teej needs to find a similarly damaged 997 to rebuild to get his fix on that model. Also maybe find a damaged 993 and rebuild one. More Porsche content

I’m very interested to know how many of those harnesses they sell. I’ll bet it’s more on the racing side of things because I can’t imagine to many people need that for road use.
