This. Contour should always be cool toned. People get bronzer and contour confused all the time and think they’re interchangeable but they’re not. I use a bronzer to contour sometimes but that’s only because I’m paler than Judy and can get away with it, but I ONLY use it on my cheeks and now where else. If I do the rest of my face it’s cool tones only and proper contour. Also the fact he used cream products for contour is another issue entirely- they just don’t soften like powders do. If he wanted to warm her face by using that much cream bronzer what he should have done is place it underneath her foundation. That would mute it and add the warm glow, then do the rest of the contour with the right tones after foundation (being careful not to overlap the areas because then that would make stuff muddy) with powder products.

They were so...reddish, orangey and everything was so WARM that contour was straight cheese colored!! The techniques were great, he just flopped at color choice but the foundation itself was fine. Personally, thought it was a very good job, but I would’ve been tempted to comment on the tones.

@@marybodnar4749 but i feel like if you are a good makeup artist, you should know better than that. Like yea, it was instagram makeup because it came from there, but you should be able to create a similar look without caking on that much product. A good makeup artist (especially one charging a bunch) should know the best way to apply makeup for the given situation. or maybe I just expect too much from people, i do that in other areas sometimes hahahaha

@@snehajrathi Right? Also he slathered on about six people's worth of product, I'm not even trying to be hyperbolic. You could scrape that off in chunks, and it shows in the final result. With less product, you can still do an intense contour, it would just be easier to blend, and you can still get full-coverage, that just depends on what kind of foundation you use. I kinda suspect people want to not feel bad for how much he's charging?

100% Agree! This type of makeup is popular with a lot of makeup gurus. It resembles drag makeup and never actually looks good in natural lighting or up close. The only way it looks good is with editing and good lighting.

it is still achievable, but personally I would have toned it down, it's deffo an insta look more than a real life look! Altho i kinda dont get why some muas use the over editing, a lot of muas including myself get put on the spot when someone shows a super edited pic of what they want

It's not really a full face without contour, because when you apply foundation it kind of hides the natural shades of the skin and leaves you with a face without proper definition. And of course Judy has perfect skin but the same way the instagram brows would look out of place with naked skin, so would the eye look. But yes the contour is very orange

Lol it doesn’t make a difference if she spent a longer time with her during the past pandemic. She was stil in in contact with her, so the length of time wouldn’t make a difference..

Tbh the coronavirus situation isn't that bad in Ecuador anymore, I just checked and besides a huge spike in April, the cases have been pretty low and stable since then, so whatever they're doing, they're doing it right. As you can see, Judy wears her mask when she's out too. Obviously she can't when she gets her makeup done. Most countries keep the virus under control by now.

@@k3upikachu I know that, thanks lol. But you'd be surprised at how many people actually wear this type of makeup on a daily basis. Walk down the streets of London for a bit and this is all that you will see so I see why he would think this is what people would expect from a makeup artist nowadays. I don't know about the regulations in his country but I could easily claim to be a mua and do this job for a living without the proper credentials. You don't have to have a license or diploma.

gardenho69 She showed him a picture of how she wanted her makeup to look like though, AKA a beauty guru wearing the typical beauty guru makeup. He took the style that the customer wanted and applied it to her face. I do think his results were mediocre (regarding the colors and the amount of product he used), but he still managed to get the style to the customer's liking regardless (drag brows, cut crease, big lashes, extreme highlight).
