This was a great question that a subscriber emailed to ask me about. I figured that because there is so much that goes into Cura profile settings, that I would do a full tutorial on my Cura profile settings. I cover what settings to change and adjust using an over-the-shoulder format so you can see exactly what I do.
I hope this is helpful to someone. Please comment below if you have any questions.

Thank you for your very helpfull videos!! Thanks for sharing your printer settings in this video and your introduction on how you get good 1st layer adhesion. It would be very helpfull if you indeed can explain more on how you make sure the 1st layer sticks well to the buildplate, especially when a print initial layer has these small/short lines where there is a lot of rapid extrusion and retraction. (on my printer these lines tend to curl up, stay sticky to the fillament in the nozzel or something) I know having a flat bed surface, bedleveling (I use MBL) and a clean bed (IPA, tape or glue) are key for filament to stick but I am very interesting to know what you try to achieve with the initial layer height of 0.2 in combination with the Z offset of -0.1? Also what thickness is your paper/feeler gauge when leveling the bed? Looking forward to your next videos on printing and painting!!

First! I’m so glad this video was helpful for you. That is the sole reason I make videos to help. 2. I am currently shooting an updated version of this video showing real prints of what each setting can do to effect your prints. 3. I can make another video all about bed leveling and adhesion there are soooo many factors to consider and it depends on what type of bed you and layer height. Also what tools you use. But to directly answer your question I use a 0.1 mm feeler gauge for my bed level with a initial layer height of .2 mm with a -0.1 mm Z offset. Thanks again and please let me know if you have more questions I’m happy to make videos to further explain topics. My list is starting to get long. 😅

@@ItsMeaDMaDe Thank you for your quick reply!! So basically when you start printing, the bedlevel gab of 0.1 is removed by the Z offset -0.1. This would mean zero space between bed and nozzle, right? Then you push fillament out as if the 1st layer would be 0.2. I assume (like I have) that after bedleveling you always end up having more space between the nozzle and the bed than this feeler gauge of 0.1 (bed not entirely flat, even with MBL I have slightly larger gabs). Looking forward to your new video that is comming out on tuning the setting but more important what the settings do and can prevent or enhance. Finally a tip for another video, Supports ;) Mainly the top supports on which the new material should print on. When the gab is to big, the supported 1st layer doesn't look nice but if you only take 1 layer, the supports are sticking too much. (more or less dense supports, use finer support grid where touching the model, how many layers????) Keep up the good work and please let me know if you need examples if my info wasn't clear enough.

I don’t know what you mean my “nog”? 20mms if you mean speed for most of my prints I want to be smooth I slow it down to around 20 mm/s which makes your quality a little better which means less sanding.

I cant get CURA to work with my ender 3 S1, No matter what I slice it ends up printing half on and off the build plate in the lower left corner. If I use the creality slicer its fine. Any suggestions?

I would probably delete your profile and add it back making sure you put in the right info. If you don’t have the right settings things can mess up bad. Go to preset printers then manage printers then delete the one for your printer. After that add it back. Hope that helps.

Do you make adjustments for flow on your profiles?

Typically I leave it at 100% if I’m having adhesion issues I will increase it a little on the first layer

U had skirt and brim mixed up in your vid. Im also dislexic as fuck with numbers. But it will also cross over to other things aswell i see that may be the same with you haha. Great video btw just watched your other support interface video after printing out the mandalorian N1 from gambody and mother fucker was it a bitch to get my interface off. It was just too close. So for now im gunna roud off your settings to mid of where i was and i think that will be pretty close. Ty man
