@@charlesreed6460 they tried to create an dark side entity. İt Failed. And The Force take it really personally. And created Anakin to bring balance. Which basically what Anakin did at the end in ROTJ.
@@Vilgax00 I don’t know, I haven’t personally read it. I looked it up and that’s what the author said, apparently it was due to Vader’s suspicion and paranoia.
I think that the problem is that even The Phantom Menace had a sense of adventure on top of the politics but in The Acolyte, it doesn't feel like an adventure or at least a fun one...
I appreciate how your take is both critical but also respectful at the same time. Instead of being like “this show sucks I hate it sm” you at least watch the episode and give multiple reasons as to why it didn’t sit well with you, but are also very open minded for the next episode.
This is probably the only Star Wars channel that isn't screaming about how bad this episode is, and taking a deeper dive and asking the same questions I am, while also voicing why it feels too different. Those leakers weren't kidding when they said that it was the most controversial episode
If I was limited to one major criticism, I don't like how the entire episode is a flash back. If I was in charge knowing only what I know now, I would have split the episode up and made that the cold open so we can both see the background and watch the story continue simultaneously. However, I have a feeling we will be seeing more, or what really happened, going forward to the point where it wouldn't make sense to split episode 3 up into parts.
"Pulling the thread" I think was just an expression. The force is still the force. Midichlorians are still Midichlorians. And as much as I wasn't a fan of these Psuedo Nightsister coven of force witches, I loved how they took totally credible shots at the Jedi for how they operated in the High Republic
Also, Palpatine didn't create Anakin lmao Anakin was created by the force in response to what Palp's and Plagueis were doing. They did not created Anakin, and had no idea he even existed before meeting him. Just go back reading the novel linked to this... Still an up thumb, yep this episode was damn boring and they should have done this part in 10 minutes
@@Lilac-and-GooseberriesI think it’s just laziness at Disney and a lack of money or care to pay people to be able to keep up with what they’re putting out as there as canon. The comic panels you’re referring to show a shadow of Palpatine with his hands around Shmi’s belly using dark side energy while the text is talking about the Force being unnatural. I mean in what way does that not imply he created Anakin with the Force? You could say he’s corrupting the baby instead but if 9/10 readers walk away thinking it looked like he was creating Anakin until you point out he was just corrupting him then somebody did their job wrong. And Anakin wasn’t even born corrupted he was just a normal kid, like what are they even talking about?
@@moment-of-glory I saw one of the authors say it was from Vader’s paranoia and suspicion, he believed Palpatine had a hand in his creation when he didn’t. Though technically he still did through his darkside manipulations with Plagueis because the force responded to it with Anakin.
So someone pointed it out on Twitter but this episode's title is not like the previous two. The first two episodes are titled with words that mirror each other like Ep 1 being "Lost/Found". By that sense, we have Ep 3 "Destiny" no / and no word that is the opposite of destiny. It's likely this episode only showed half of the whole thing and we are only seeing Osha's side of it. I wonder what Mae's side of the story is and there seems to be a possibility she was manipulated. So far we somewhat know why Mae is specifically after those Jedi and being the Coven's practices are considered connected to Dark Side practices, it could be Jedi and perhaps even the Republic have been eyeing on that planet for some time and it was why they are there waiting. The witches being dead and piled up like a circle also seemed a bit strange to some people. Torbin who was still a Padawan back then fell victim to the Coven's hypnosis and thus his eyes turned black. Kelnaca jumped on him and slashed his left eye to snap him out of it. It's not seen very clearly but Torbin when Sol was looking after an unconscious Osha was on the background already having that facial scar which has healed after 10+ years.
Andrew is the perfect example of what a fan should be or at least here trust me I honestly love most of the the Star Wars tv shows besides resistance but this is also not that good but I also like how he talks about opinions and does not criticize and be Negative all time about Disney (Star Wars theory and mostly his fans)
Feel the same. I for example don't like the prequels so much but I like to ask people, who love them what they actually enjoy about them it gives you a new perspective. Over a decade ago when I was not so much into star wars the fandom was actually pretty chill and explain everything with a child spark. Nowadays it feels their only concern is just hating disney instead celebrate what they love. And like you said, star wars theory was the same unfortunately. I loved his old videos about the lore and his weird takes but now his concerns are more about twitter discours and yes, his fans comments are really spitefull most of the times. After his "Mark Hamill hates me "-video I unsubscribed him. so let us all more like Andrew: We don't need to like everything from star wars but have a open mind about it and enjoy what we like about it^^
Star wars being taken over by new ownership is a no go. It's a creation and art of one man who who had a awesome story to tell. Disney (like most of their brain dead fans) don't see that. They want more, more and more until there's so much shit that it doesn't become unique anymore. If someone took over the comic strip of Garfield other than Jim Davis, it wouldt be the same because it was his take, the orignal, not a "attempted" recreation of the past. Star wars died when Disney bought it. George or nobody
I think in terms of Osha and Sol connecting, if this show had kind of gone about things in a similar way to Arcane, THEN that bond would make much more sense. Like if the big tragedy happened, then Sol comes across a grieving stricken Osha, THAT'S when she would latch onto him because that just makes sense, children WOULD look to ANY comfort available even if they don't fully know that adult. Just like with Powder and Silco. If this script had just been worked over a little more we could've had another Andor on our hands. But it just feels like a first draft.
Not trying to attack you or anything, but may I ask how this took out interest? It honestly just made me laugh and look forward to see his character in the show
@@idbadgeman5943 I can't speak for @dandalorian5115 but I feel that when an actor becomes apart of an existing franchise, they should have an interest and knowledge of the show (eg. Sam Witwer or Henry Cavill in The Witcher). Comments like "Anakin blew up an entire Death Star" make me feel that an actor doesn't care about that franchise. That's just me though.
@@cjscrubs Yes, I see what you mean. The actor did say that he was knew to the franchise though, although he did also say that he was a fan. I personally just think that he got it confused and misspoke. Although thats just what I think. I agree that actors should probably be at least somewhat knowledgeable of the franchise, and know about the main things. Though they definitely don’t need to know as much as the writers do, because that could ruin whatever project they are working on if the writers are ignorant of the source material *cough cough Halo Tv show writers
"Destroying Star Wars" is impossible because they already did that a long time ago. But this does seem really shit. Edit: Hmm Charlie just dropped a video on this 😂
I feel this should have been spread out throughout the series and hinted to as it went along. So much has been given away already that I just hope there's something else larger that's going to be revealed.
I think the jedi rushing out of there and choosing not to stay and help is meant to tip us off to the fact that mae isn't the cause of the witches death and the jedi are guilty to some extent which imo doesn't ruin the jedi at all because they have always been terrible
@@c3po184How? if they don't enjoy the show it's clearly not a loss for them. Regardless of your own opinion. Personally I either watch a show entirely or nothing at all but again that's just a personal choice.
Bad writing is bad writing, they haven't given the characters much development or anything so the characters aren't that interesting and as a viewer anyone could care less that any of the characters could get killed off.
Unfortunately this fandom has now officially shunned anyone who likes Disney star wars even if they're are some valid critisims about Disney star wars Infact I'm surprised that the acolyte backlash isn't as bad as i thought it would be even the review bombing is a epic fail infact just straight up look at the raitings now because it's only at 20 percent instead of thirty percent like last time
@wickdaline8668 and lets not forget how the fans try to constantly blame Disney for everything I myself have almost cut ties with star wars the only era I'm interested in now is the old Republic and skelaton crew and mando season 4/grogu movie and the potential omega show thats literally what's keeping me here after that I'm done with star wars simply because of the domainat obnoxious fans and the Disney , don't get me wrong Disney star wars has definitely got issues but i wouldn't make it the be all and end all and ruin my star wars experience
A jedi doesn't need to check for a pulse to know if people are dead or unconscious. They can feel their life energy through the Force. If those women were dead he would have felt their deaths.
This is a more appropriate/mature reaction to the show. I myself am more-so curious rather than being really interested in the show. I think it has it's issues and also interesting bits.
What if the twins mother had help in creating them from the hidden sith of the day. Payment would be one of the twins when they came of age. This is why the mother was ok with Osha leaving because she would send the sith after the jedi to recover their prize. However, the sith lord felt what was happening and returned to collect one of the twins. The coven die in the fight with the sith lord and the the jedi assume the sith lord is dead. The Jedi counsel tell the jedi who were there not to speak of the sith lord because they don't want to create panic, but this causes crisis with the jedi who were there because they did not feel right about keeping the sith to themselves and are haunted by the death of the coven feeling responsible for not feeling the sith lord initially. -- Sidenote: Listen, I did not think the episode had good writing, but I am trying to make the best of a bad situation.
The dialog between the twins was stilted. With moments where they completely lacked any sort of inflection. I don't like to put the blame on child actors I think it comes down the the director not being able to direct them in a way the children can understand what they want. When Osha says "why do you always do stuff like that?" And Mae reply with "why do you always walk away from me" but she delivered the line with out highlighting the word YOU in the reply the way I am assuming the writer intended like this Osha - "Why are you always doing stuff like that?" Mae replies " why do YOU always walk away from me??" Instead of delivering her line in an identical way to the way Osha delivered her line.
8:18 i speak french so i watch star wars in french and they didn’t even translate it, it’s becoming like any other show where there’s music and that’s it…
I'm sorry, but I think a lot of criticism in this video is weak. Why do Osha need some event to establish a connection with Sol when that wasn't required for any of previous protagonist who wanted to become a Jedi? I'm sorry, but no one was saying that Anakin was much too young to decide whether or not to be Jedi, let alone all the INFANTS who were taken to become Jedi. A lot of these criticism against this series just comes across as hypocritical.
I think all the points you made are what was intended, the episode felt like it was mainly from Osha's point of view of the event, and there is a lot more to this story/event then we know so far. The show shouldn't have to spell out its mystery all in episode 3 and can give us more information and answers as the show progress. In future episodes we could revisit this event again but this time from someone else's point of view like Mae's, the witches or even the Jedi and we'll start to understand it more and fill in the gaps. The questions left unanswered by this episode is the point, When I watched the episode and saw the dead witches I turned to my partner and said "no way that fire mae started caused that" and then we started speculating who or what could have caused that. Isn't that the purpose of a mystery show ? to give you small bits of information over a season to keep you guessing. at the end of the show, if this event is never revisited with those points left unanswered then criticism is warranted.
I honestly don't understand it, its 100 years in the past, everyone and their beliefs died. These two girls are nowhere in the later stories...who cares?
Take away it's star wars, take away the lore, it's just bad filmmaking. The dialogue delivery, the poor cinematography, I've seen better made fan films than this. Heck the prequels had better digital use than this.
I don’t mind the episode personally I think it was a bit slow, but I see its point. They want to tell the backstory of the main character first. with the girls being created by the force, I also don’t mind. In fact I think that is more up to debate Whether or not, this was something that was lost the time during the era of the prequels I do think there’s more to the story, but it was dragging on a few scenes as along the way. But I want to watch the whole season before a judge that show because there might actually be some hope still
Here’s the problem I have with the Acolyte. They’ve consistently had issue that build up over each episode that make them annyoyimg to watch the writers also do a horrible job of using opportunities to push development and story. Along with that, they give characters powers for scenes and forget about them for others ie the lack of the one guy using a force mind read. Overall the show has a lot of issues which don’t seem like they’re getting fixed.
I theorize Because The Sith wanted to create a Dyad with the rule of 2 after plagues Became the Sith master he Made a deal with the witches for them to use his knowledge to try to create a Dyad. And that Created the twins. And later Plagues with the help of Palpatine would try to do the same and the force retaliated by creating Anakin.
The force itself created anakin and that’s why fans are hating on acolyte episode 3 is coz they are changing how the force works and ripping apart what George Lucas created for the very core of Star Wars itself.
You said it! If this was called "The Acoylte" would not be watching. The only reason I'm watching is because it is "Star Wars: The Acolyte". This just doesn't feel like Star Wars at all. If you remove the Jedi then it's just some random fantasy show with witches. I'm all for expanding the galaxy, but the story and dialog are brutal so far. As a long time fan (I'm OLD)...I'm bummed.
Honestly, I really enjoyed that episode. I love a unreliable narrator and it was clearly only from Osha's perspective. I'm still not convinced that Mae did start a fire on her own, I think she might've been manipulated by her mother (the Zebrak one, forgot her name). I think some time in the season we will see her perspective on all of this and I know a lot of people won't agree with me, but I'm looking forward to see how this mystery will resolve
I just think the writers are purposely trying to make the Jedi evil. Why else have Sol spying on the kids and imply that the Jedi killed the witches? Tobin willingly kills himself, why would he unless he did something or was took part in something wrong. I think it’s definitely being set up to demonize the Jedi.
A good universe is built by expectation and imagination. That's why midichlorians are shit. Less magic, more explanation doesn't make your universe good : it make it boring. That's why the best universe have plenty of lore but don't detail everything, they let room for imagination But I get your point, this episode was boring as fuck, but next episode will catch up for this, i'm sure
*I just think the show is kind of boring and mid overall.* A whole Episode with these Witches and I still know NOTHING about them 😅. Nor do I care... they're kind of cringe to be honest lol. Acting seems wooden too..
They are even worst But the movies weren't boring. In this episode the dialogue were bad, and the event were slow and boring. I think SW2 is less a pain to watch. I really hope episode 4 will be better
I’m just finding the show really boring and I’m not getting connected to anything, it feels the least like Star Wars any Disney show has felt and the blatant disregard for the cannon is really bugging me
Star Wars is everything for me! I just love it, but its getting out of hand. There are many series (non Star Wars) that are really good in the first seasons, but later on become very bad. The main story is forgotten or the same thing just happens over and over again. It would have been better if they stoped when it was good instead of pushing it to the limit just for the money. I’m not saying that this is an example of Star wars but when the seaquels realesed it all began. Most of the new SW content is amazing but there are a few examples of when its not that good. Obi-Wan Kenobi was fantastic but adding Leia to the story was like doing the same thing that has already been done, multiple times. Grogu and Din Djarin, Luke and Obi-Wan, Hunter and Omega…. I dont even have to say what the sequels did to the franchise. If The Acolyte tries to reshape the SW lore they will follow these mistakes. What I am trying to say is that Star Wars could start getting out of hand if new series turns out this bad. We could find ourselves with a franchise that no longer is Star Wars if Disney keeps on like this. Put Dave Filoni in charge of it all! Star Wars is the best movies of all time and we want to keep it that way!
Andor knows how to build tension, world building and character through the script and show taking its time. And as a result, it all pays off. This show however does not.
Sure. It is not mind blowing. But that just means they are sticking to the same technology forever. They have to find away to push their projects into Unreal Engine 5. But I think Apple Intelligence can actually do that. It’s already clear that Apple has partnerships with Disney. So Apple is leading the business to the right direction and keeping Disney from going bankrupt.
I hated that in the new canon it's Palpatine that made Anakin and not the old canon version where it was the Force itself that conceived Anakin as a reaction to Plagueis manipulating the midichlorians.
This show is proof of how much blind hating the star wars community does. its not about getting new star wars content its about nit picking every little detail now.
Not totally true as there are also content creators who are not happy with the Acolyte does give praise where they deserve it. Most of them actually praise the actor who plays Master Sol, as one of the few bright spots they see in the show.
I tell you what, if I was living in an all-female coven, I’d be desperate to get off the planet, too. So much feminine energy with no male energy to balance it would make me crazy. If Sol showed me a modicum of kindness and offered me a chance to see the galaxy, I’d jump at it. Plus, I’d be fascinated by his maleness. Osha is a twin who’s sick to death of sharing everything with her sister, a sister who makes no attempt at all to understand her. Osha’s getting to the age when she wants to assert her individuality and Mae is the main one holding her back. Osha is desperate to get away, even though it means saying goodbye to everything she’s ever known. I think the Jedi who killed himself did so out of guilt because the visit from the Jedi group was the catalyst for the tragedy that followed. There’s no way the Jedi would have killed those unarmed witches, no matter how the Jedi felt about them. Interestingly, Hayden Christensen was in a movie called Outcast that had a similar premise. His character carried the guilt of some dead women and children because if he had stopped fighting like his friend wanted him to, the tragedy wouldn’t have happened. For context, I’m a happily married, heterosexual, non-homophobic female who became a Star Wars fan in 1977 at the age of 19.
I really appreciate your thoughts on this, some people are being so overly negative. I don't think the show is perfect, but I'm personally enjoying it, I just wish other people would give it more of a chance.
I agree. Did I like episode 3? No. Did I like episodes 1 and 2? Yes. Am I glad episode 3 seems like it’s barely important to the overall main story? Also yes.
The good news is that this show cost twice as much as Kenobi and is getting half as many views as Kenobi Kenobi lost money so this show will lose disney even more money so huge win for star wars fans 🎉🎉🎉🎉
*SIGH* The entire point of the episode was to see Mae and Osha's origin story, where they were from and how Osha joined the Jedi, but we are MEANT to see one side of things: Osha's side of things. The majority of the episode is from Osha's perspective. I guarantee you that they left stuff out intentionally! There is likely going to be more info down the line! We didn't see the Jedi's version of events, or how Torbin gets his scar. Clearly, stuff is missing, and we're likely not going to see it until episodes 4-7. This is like an episode of "Murder, She Wrote", where you get introduced to all the players on the board, then go to the murder, then how Ms Fletcher solves the mystery! Episodes 1 and 2 showed us the board players, episode 3 showed us the murder/plot point, and the rest of the series is going to show us how to solve the mystery and resolve the story.
Doesn't make this episod good. It was still slow and boring and should have been done in half of the time. We didn't need to see mae capturing a bug for example. It shows how she is dark, but we didn't need 2 minutes of this. We didn't need the full dance, we didn't need to spend an entire episode on this
@@doctorv9336just because someone likes it, doesn’t make them a shill. You can dislike it, that’s your opinion, but don’t go calling someone a shill for enjoying something you didn’t.

This show is nothing more than projection from an insecure and troubled "show runner". This is absolute grade school writing with no depth or logic. Star Wars is dead.
