My Experience Hiking the Grand Canyon | Bright Angel Trail [2023 Review] 

Nice job getting a little taste of the Grand Canyon. 3 Mile House is a perfect turn around point, so that was well played. Trail runner type shoes, or shoes like something from Vivo Barefoot are the weapon of choice there. The last thing you want is a pair of hot, heavy, stiff, boots, or stiff hiking style shoes. Let your ankles be free to pivot, for balance and power. Let your toes splay out for grip and balance, and have light footwear, because you're stepping up over 10,000 mule steps. Full brim shade hats are a must for any desert hiking, as are long sleeve, dri-fit fabric type shirts. Keeping the sun off your skin, is key to not feeling bad. Get your hair wet at every water stop, and on hot days, wet your shirt. Keeping body core temp from getting high, while in the Canyon, is extremely important. And supplement your Liquid I.V. with a couple magnesium lysinate pills broken in half, and a vitamin B complex pill. Dulls the taste of the drink a little, but you're fueling for being in the Canyon, not for gourmet. Lastly, light gear! Metal bottles...uhmm, no. A light Osprey pack with hydration bladder inside, or an ultra running style race pack, or for something like 3 Mile House and back, a Naked Running Band. I run there often. Vids on the channel.

Love the MACY' S poster in the back of your accommodation! I remember this European coffeehouse well from my 2019 roadtrip through the USA. It was the ONLY time I got a good coffee in my entire month of travelling. 😃

we just came back from Yosemite , heavy breathing on every trail that was not flat , i thought we were in great shape , maybe we get a pass since were from new Orleans , below sea level ( ha ha) great video love you guys..

Hi Max. Thanks for the video. I’m looking at doing this in October. I noticed the toll gates for the GC at 3:00. Did you have to get a pass for this in advance or can you just drive there and get a pass? Im planning to drive from Vegas to GC Village and unsure what I need to do before setting off (if anything). I'm wanting to do this hike, but am not a huge fan of heights 😬 did you ever feel unsafe on any part of the trail? How steep are the drop-offs to the side of you?

Very good video. You mentioned that you had the choice of the South Kaibab Trail or the Bright Angel Trail, why didn't you do the South Kaibab Trail?

You both made the right choice of not going all the way down to the Colorado River. If you did, you both would pass the Devil's Corkscrew...and coming back up of that section is no joke....
