Hey everyone!
This is probably the most vulnerable post I have ever made. I really debated even sharing this as there is a lot of pain, discomfort, shame and even embarrassment that goes along with dealing with something like this.
If this video has found you when you needed it the most- then my goal is achieved.
Turning pain into power and purpose, one baby hair at a time.

I've been going through this since last Winter too and i wouldn't wish it on anyone. I'm so sorry you're going through this, but I'm so grateful for your bravery. I feel much less alone knowing that people are going through this at the same time. I hope it all gets better for us soon. Thank you ❤

I suffered from chronic Telogen effluvium for 2 years, and as a female, it is devastating. When people say it's just hair, i get so angry, they have zero idea how mentally destroying losing your hair is. It changes you, and you will forever be checking your hair 10 times a day even after it grows back, and you will forever be checking your brush after you brush it, analysing the amount of hair and freaking out if there's a little more than usual and anytime a hair sheds randomly during the day a mental freakout will occur for a second and anytime someone looks at you for more than a moment you will think, is it my hair...is something wrong...the mental fu$%ery it causes doesn't end when the hair comes back. Before this happened, none of the above ever occurred to me, and now it's a lifelong struggle. I hope you're doing well, Thankyou for sharing, you will help alot of people ❤

I agree with this whole heartedly. The trauma never really goes away even after the shedding stops and you look completely "normal". Thank you for your comment, it is very validating. Glad there is this community that understands

i am currently in a horrible shed, this is the second time it has happened to me. i feel like the sides are weightless and see through and like fuzz. it is extremely dehumanizing and unless you go through it you couldnt understand. especially when none of your friends have ever gone through it and are living their lives just fine even if they got covid or had a stressful event. i am prone to this happening and it is horrible. i pray it ends soon. thank you for posting, i hope you have recovered

Thank you so much for making this video and being so vulnerable! I broke down watching it because I relate to your story so much!!! I'm currently going through telogen effluvium, and it started shortly after getting married and moving to a new state. Like you, it took me a while to really notice the shedding, I just played it off that the hair stylist I went to touch up my roots over processed my hair. However, things just kept getting worse and I noticed that hair texture became very dry and would just snap. So I started to buy all sorts of hair products, but none of them really helped. It took me so long to finally get the bravery to see a dermatologist, but even though its been 7 months of shedding it hasn't stopped. When I brush my hair I get huge clumps of hair in my brush. Taking showers are the worse because I lose hair in the drain and especially afterwards when I brush it. It seems like I always find a loose hair crawling down my back/arms, all over the bathroom floor, in the dryer lint trap, etc. I think one of the worse parts is how it's inescapable and having to look in the mirror warping your self image. It's been so crushing to my already low self image, especially because I put so much of my worth in my long, thick hair. I feel so out of control and crushed by this, and I just hope one day it stops. Your video really has helped me knowing that I'm not the only one. So thank you again.

thank you for commenting ♥ it is such a devastating thing to go through, something you will never really understand unless its happened to you. I am so sorry you are going through this but you are so strong, and when you don't feel like you are strong, lean on those you love and who love you back. Something I never mentioned is that I started doing hair affirmations everyday while I was getting ready. I feel like it helped me a lot. There are lots of videos on RU-vid, I suggest finding one you connect with and make it part of your daily practise. I am wishing you all of the health and happiness, you will get through it and come out the other side a stronger and wiser person for it ♥♥♥

Thank you for having the strength to make this video. I think my T.E. started about a month ago, after a very bad case of Covid in January 2024 (all month). But, I was in the hospital for 4 days the first week of April with a very bad kidney infection, so now I'm afraid I'm about to get a double dose of it!! I can relate to everything you said and appreciate hearing from someone who went through it. God bless you, and your hair!

I am so sorry you are going through this! it is very difficult and hard to explain to someone who has never experienced it. I hope you are recovering now from the covid and your stay in the hospital from the kidney infection. I have had many kidney infections also and they are not fun at all. I appreciate your comment, and I am wish you all the best with the T.E. You are strong and you will get through it, remember you are not alone!

I understand what you're going through. I'm currently facing a similar situation due to dengue. Lately, I've been feeling quite down as I've noticed my scalp becoming visible, and the persistent hair loss has been bringing me to tears every minute. With exams approaching, my confidence is dwindling, and I'm uncertain about how I'll cope with it.

I am also so alarmed. I have this too, and losing so much of my pretty long hair … that took me so long to grow. I wonder when it will stop, my hairbrush has so much hair on it. Also my pillow and shower drain. 😥 I also have lost all of the hair on my arms. If I touch my hair in any way … more falls out 😥 You look like you still have a lot of hair. My hair was/is the same length as yours. ❤ It does drive you insane. I too absolutely dread washing my hair and brushing it. P.S. I really like your tea cart.

hi! Basically what I did was when I realized that the shedding was going to continue for a little while and it was out of my control, I started to focus on things that I COULD control. I started taking really good care of my mental and physical health. Supplemented vitamins to get my body back into good shape. Cut out a lot of toxic people or situations and tried to be as calm as possible. You are your priority in this time. I also did some hair masks with apricot oil and a little bit of peppermint oil (very small amount) and I would put that on my scalp for about 15 mins before I showered and then rinsed it out. Also I got a very wide tooth comb which made the brushing a lot less traumatic. You just need to give yourself the time and space to heal in my experience. Good luck on your journey! you got this! @@tytasgamer1667

My hairloss started, or I noticed it, in October 2022 - clumps of hair were coming out and my overall hair when I was washing it seemed sooo thin. I had covid on 7/30/22 and blood tests in February 2023 that showed ferritin at 14 and vitamin D at 24. So the dermatologist stated I needed iron IV and 50000 IU Vitamin D3. My levels were all fine by May 2023. My hair stopped shedding by February, but my overall hair is so much less dense - my ponytail is less than 1/2 than what it was. I do not notice bald spots or really a substantial spreading of the part -it is totally more diffused loss. I notice tons of new hairs but the front of my hair under direct light is very thin. So it has been 14 months since I noticed the shedding and I honestly do not feel like my hair thickness has remotely returned, my ponytail is super small and over all my hair is sooo much thinner. I do notice little hairs all over but I am worried as every other video I have seen talked about how in a year they had their hair back. How long from the moment you noticed shedding did your hair return to normal. I am also almost 50yo.
@jessspahr
@jessspahr 9 месяцев назад
its so interesting how Covid affects the hair! in my experience my hair has grown back to pretty much the same thickness I would say. its kind of hard to tell because my hair is a few different lengths at the moment. But it does feel fairly dense. I think everyone's encounter with it is unique. My hair started shedding in November/December of 2022 and stopped at the end of February 2023. Started coming back march/April and has been growing normally since.

Yes I know thank youuu! I started taking biotin vitamins and currently using anti hair fall serums and biotin shampoo. I also started to take care of my mental health to avoid stress. And I just cut my hair short enough so I would not be able to comb it anymore that contributes to my hair fall. And todaaay I'm so happy! Because my hair is short I can no longer see so much falling. Really I'm so grateful that I was hopeful. Everyone will recover✨💓💓💓 it was an emotional experience but at the end we'll still make it and realize how strong we were during those times

Going through this now. I got the flu at the end of February and started losing my hair rapidly at the end of April. Now at the end of may I’ve lost 50-60% of my hair. Showering is a horror. I don’t recognize myself in the mirror. I cry whenever I think about it. I’ve always had long and thick dark hair, and now I have nothing. I think I’m going to cut my hair as short as I can mentally handle but I’m just waiting for the shed to end, hoping I don’t go bald. I would love to see pictures or updates :( it’s nice to know I’m not alone. It’s so traumatic for a woman.

Thanks for your story. T.E. is a horrible reality if it happens to you. But, saying 50-70% of one’s hair sheds, is an exaggeration, except for yourself and some; definitely not a given. I have had it for 5 years, and it is now classified as chronic. My pony tail is probably only 2/3 of its normal thickness. It will shed worse in some spots, grow back in, then be more concentrated in another, and so on. 8:46 As mine began a few months after an Acute MI, and in my instance, the medical issues leading up to this cannot be altered. ☹️

They say that washing it and massaging it daily will make it better but it's hard to see all your hair in shower i m trying to accept the new look especially after visiting 6 dermatologists ( 3 of them said thats its chronic and maybe the androgenitic alopecia is my new diagnosis) 😢

Did the crown region grow back to be as dense as it was earlier?
@jessspahr
@jessspahr 3 месяца назад
Hey there! thanks for your comment. The biggest change was the fact that my hair was no longer coming out in large amounts-if at all. I didnt wake up with hair all over the place and there was less round my home etc.This is a pretty obvious one. But I also noticed that my scalp started to feel a lot better, it wasn't as uncomfortable and felt a lot more normal. I also noticed that there was hair growing, it was a very soft hair in the patches that had come out. Yes the hair did come back in the crown area! it filled in everywhere it had fallen out and it looks as it did before the TE occurred. It is just a thick and everything. In my case the shedding lasted about 3 months. From December to end of feb/march and then it stopped completely and the hair started growing again.
