To get a deeper crimp on the Lee, I'll put the loaded shell under the priming station and use the stem to push the center of the crimp in a little, then put it through the final... Repeat until it's perfect.
Buffer is never absolutely a necessity, but it really helps patterns past like 30 yards. Large pellets like 000 and 0000 buckshot are greatly aided by buffer. You don’t need it though.
You wouldn't happen to know a really good 2 3/4inch cartridge, 1400fps and low recoil, 1 1/8oz 7.5 lead load out please, specifically for clays? There are very few loading manuals in the UK. I can import from the US at extortionate prices!
Straight wall hull, 1 1/8 ounce straight wall wad, 34 grains longshot, 1 1/8 ounce of shot. You need longshot, hs6, blue dot, or maybe wsf powder to do it.
@@theshotgunscientists Bangin mate, shithot. It would be hs6, as that is all that is available. Still 34 grains? Green dot seems to be abundant in the UK and that is basically it atm. Thank you
@@ClarkesonTheMarksman Look on hodgdons website for hs6 data they have tons of free data. Google hs6 load data and it’ll come up. You can choose what hull you have and payload weight, it’ll give you tons of options.
Most lead Shot is Graphite coated, which is enough for them not to clump together, and slide. The Hardnes of the shot matters. There is a reason for Hard,Extra Hard, copper coated or Nickel plated(Nickel plated the hardest I have used). Buckshot does not need to be coated, graphite is enough, if you want long range, Buffering(The right choke as well) is more important. If you don't use wads then powder coating might help. Just buy premium copper/nickel plated shot. I cast my own #1 with a medium hard alloy(Scrapped with whatever and some tin), graphite, waded and buffered and made my fixed choked upland O/U from a 25 Yds Deer Gun into well paterning 40 Yds gun. Keep the speed down. Heavier, slow loads patern much better. Don't thrive for 1500 Fps loads. Deer won't tell if hit at 1500 or 1200 FPS. The goal is for 3 pellets in the boiler room at max range
@theshotgunscientists yeah, she kinda got canceled and faded away after someone said she said something 40 years ago. Watching her show just reinforced my beliefs that any recipe that starts with a stick of butter is going to be good.
