National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation is my favorite Christmas movie that I watch every year.

I like all the old black and white 1940s classics like It's a Wonderful Life, The Shop Around the Corner, Miracle on 34th Street. A 1980s classic is Prancer. I grew up in rural Michigan and watching it is like watching my childhood. I like the children's cartoons and stop animation shows by Rankin Bass. A new one I love is The Man Who Invented Christmas about Charles Dickens. ♡

Thank you for your lovely list, Maria, and for sharing your traditions with us. God Jul!!! 🌲🎄🇸🇪☃️❄️♥️ Love Actually, and Bridgette Jones', Nativity Story, Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas, and The Polar Express, but It's A Wonderful Life, and The 80's Little Women are my favorites, and a film with Cary Grant called: "Penny Serenade". Also must watch; The Peanuts Christmas, Rudolf The Red-Nosed Reindeer. Planes, Trains, and Auto Mobiles. And I agree that LOTR must be watched, as well!

Great choices, love Elf and Holiday as well! But, don't forget the old great classics from the Golden Age of Hollywood in the 1930s and 40s..."Holiday Inn" with the late greats Fred Astaire/Bing Crosby where he introduced the great classic song, "I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas" with wonderful singing and dancing, "It's a Wonderful Life" with the late great Jimmy Stewart, "Christmas in Connecticut" with the late great Barbara Stanwyck, "A Christmas Carol" with the amazing Alistair Sims who did the best job ever playing old Scrooge in 1951! The original " Miracle on 34th St." abt the Macy's Thanksgiving parade starring the late great Natalie Wood when she was nine years old who drowned tragically in 1981 at the age of 43. See if you can get your hands on these, well worth watching and shouldn't be forgotten! Also loved the Swedish film, "Fanny and Alexander" which also takes place at Christmas time in Sweden. Another great classic film! Thanks for sharing your favorites~

Dear Maria , i see that a lot of people have mentioned it already... you have to see "It's a wonderful life " - 1946 with James Steward - it's so inspiring and it plays around Christmas .

Just found your channel a few weeks ago and I’m binge watching your videos especially My Swedish Advent Calendar series. It wouldn’t be Christmas without watching A Charlie Brown Christmas, the original animated version of The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, 1966. We also like It’s A Wonderful Life, The Bishop’s Wife with Cary Grant, Loretta Young, and David Niven, Miracle On 34th Street, and an absolute must to watch is Laurel and Hardy’s The March of the Wooden Soldiers! I know there’s more but these are our big ones!

I'll add to all of the movies already mentioned, The Bishop's Wife (the 1947 version with Cary Grant, of course), Christmas in Connecticut (the 1945 version with Barbara Stanwyck), A Christmas Carol (the 1951, Alastair Sim), Jingle All The Way, Holiday Inn, Home Alone, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation and Scrooged (an amazing and original reworking of Dickens). We start the Christmas movieathon Thanksgiving weekend (4th Thursday-Sunday of November) with Home for the Holidays (Holly Hunter, Robert Downey, Jr., Dylan McDermott and watch sometimes into the first week of January because we try to watch ALL of them. Oh, and another favorite, the Christmas Episode from season 2 of All Creatures Great and Small.

Ooh, I already posted, but forgot to ask: Do Swedes really watch Donald Duck films on Christmas Eve? I heard that was a thing. I hosted a Swedish Christmas a few years ago, and got Disney's "A Christmas Carol", with Donald Duck, playing Scrooge. It was fun, and a great way to honor my Swedish mother, and grandpa, who have passed away.

I watched Love Actually last night! It goes with The Holiday for me, too, Christmas must-watch movies. When I was younger there was no Christmas without the three Sissi movies from the 50s about Empress Sisi of Austria with Romy Schneider (and also the one where she played Queen Victoria!), just gorgeous. Another one we never miss is the Czech movie Three hazelnuts for Cinderella, despite the very 70s vibe, it's so sweet. I need to watch The Snowman and Polar Express at some point over Christmas, as well, and when the children were growing up Wallace and Gromit 😬 With them we also liked the Astrid Lindgren movies and series and on German TV there always used to be a new Christmas series every year, but I don't think they do that now.... LOTS of fond memories! I just remembered - I always like to watch a ballet performance of the Nutcracker, too, such a part of Christmas 😊 ...but I never saw any of the other movies you mention 😳 (well, obviously I know LOR and HP, but the others!)

The Holiday is a favorite of mine. The visuals of the English countryside make me feel very cozy here in Illinois. A version filmed in the Swedish countryside would be even better. I had the blessing of being able to visit Sweden this past September. We stayed in a cottage in the countryside. It was wonderful.

Hi Maria, Zuzu lost her paddles, It's a Wonderful Life with the late James Stewart. Elf is a pretty cool movie 2, there are a lot of Christmas movies on the Hallmark Channel here in New York that are uplifting in the spirit of Christmas. Also watching home movies from Christmas Past when we were children tearing the presents open enjoying the day with our family those are the best ones to watch. I hope you and hubby are well thank you for another nice video.

But oh how I love can’t buy me love. These movies all came out when I was 15-18 ... yes i’m that old! I’m like you I love watching the same movies over. My xmas favorites mirror yours a bit.
