Hello Maria, Oh great, I'm happy I learnt the story around this yule goat, I have one in red (in fabric), bought at Ikea a few years ago, yes, not very original I know... but now I know why it exists, thank you! As you said, people didn't have phones, Internet, TV, etc. to entertain so I find the story quite fun! ^_^

I have Finn and Swede in my DNA, and I love the correlation of the goat. Even my facial hair only comes in like a billy goat. When I was 6 I remember reading three billy goats gruff, and have always loved billy goats. Now in my 30s and doing ancestry research, and following heathenry, things are really coming full circle in my life. side note: I noticed some words in Swedish and Finnish are similar which makes learning the languages easy. Finnish is hard compared to the Scandinavian countries, I know it's because it doesn't come from the same linguistic family.
