This was Kenneth MacDonald's first appearance in a Stooges short. Of course, he usually played crooks or other assorted villains. Also, isn't it ironic that he would get a recurring role as a judge on "Perry Mason".
It is especially noticeable with the change in his "Curly" voice. Much more subdued and lower in pitch. I think it was in the above short that he appeared to be recovering, but suffered a severe stroke just after or during filming. Such a shame to die so young, especially when the world can always use more laughter.
