I love all of your dresses! They suit you beautifully, and are so perfectly made. Your sundress, that you modelled first, is the most feminine, romantic, and attractive sundress I have ever seen. I love the color, print, style, and fit. You look so lovely in this dress! I could write a paragraph about each dress, I just love them all, you have such great taste and are such a talented seamstress. All of your shirts and blouses look wonderful on you and are so stylish. Your jumpsuit with Palazzo pants is so fun and runway chic. Thank you for sharing your favourites. I truly enjoyed this video. Your commentary was engaging and informative. I look forward to following you in 2022!
I love you in a dress, Megan, and your dresses are absolutely gorgeous. I know they don't always fit into your lifestyle, but I agree that wearing something pretty can definitely change the way you feel. I highly recommend wearing dresses more often on the day to day. They're too beautiful to be stored away!
Thanks, Theresa. It's true, I do feel great when I wear something pretty. I need to invest in some wool tights and nicer winter boots because my dress collection doesn't go very well with my sorrels!
My very favorite video that I have watched this year! Thank you so much as you are beautiful and a great sewist with wonderful style. Now I must go and binge your videos! Keep it up please. I will surely be making a Gilbert floral blouse now.
Hi Megan your makes for 2021 were fab I thought you looked lovely in your favourite makes you were glowing in the photos. I think you should make some new sweat shirts to replace your grey sweater but make them in colours and fabric choices which flatter you and make you feel good that way when you go to pick your day to day easy to wear cloths you will look and feel as beautiful as you are 🙂 I think you are a great Seamstress who knows what works well for you... Your finish on your garments are amazing you would think you had bought them in a shop they are so good... Also I have watched your vlogs throughout 2021 and I have seen you grow in confidence your vlogs are always very informative and enjoyable to watch and when you smile you light up the screen.... So keep going and continue your journey.... Thank you for sharing it with us on RU-vid and bringing us along with you . 💐💐💐
Hello Megan. I really love the clothes that you have done last year. I think that the dresses are fabulous. I think you should wear them all the time with flat shoes. I was feeling the same as you. Last summer, I made many dresses that I wasn’t wearing. Finally, I decided that going on an errand was a good occasion to wear these dresses. My neighbour commented that she thought that I was very stylist and chic even on a Monday morning going for a walk! Have a good day! Elise
I have not watched your channel enough, but I can tell you..if sewing is a hobby even if you do 1 garment a month or 2 a year that you are proud of is worth it. Being speedy / fast takes away the fun and the enjoyment of the journey. I do pattern testing very sporadicly because it has a time limit and takes away the fun; however, it makes me test silhouettes. otherwise will not do it. I am a squirrel like you going for new patterns, pretty fabric and forgetting what I had planned. I try to do a project at a time and do not start another one until I am finish that helps me with not having work in progress projects. Hope to see you and your makes through 2022.
I agree, if you don't need to sew specific items, save the fabric and wait it out. The prints won't change that much over the next couple years that you couldn't make the fabric into garments in a pattern that best suits you later, who knows what new patterns will come out in the mean time! Since leaving the work world outside of the home my needs vs my wants are totally different. I enjoy making pretty dresses but frankly I don't wear them often so making special garments for occasions makes more sense to me. A few cotton or cotton jersey dresses are a must, everyday wear bottoms whether it's capris, knee shorts or skirts for warm weather will work. Putting the money out for fabric for work wear makes sense, specially when garments in the higher size range are much more expensive to buy RTW. Having a few items for the going back into the office is a good idea but I wouldn't go crazy until you know for sure you will be there on a regular basis. I love your choice in fabrics and styles, you don't make things that are way out there trying to make them fit your shape. I can't wait to see what this next year has to offer for you and for those of us who watch!
I can see why quilting is so appealing, because after a certain point, one really doesn't need any more clothes. But I have such fun making them! I think it's a good idea to make just a few pieces for going back to work, and build on it. Because you're right - who knows when we'll be back and what patterns will come out between now and then!
Your makes were beautiful. Maybe you should plan an in home special date with your hubby. Put the children to bed and have a candlelight dinner and wear your beautiful dressy clothes.
You made some beautiful garments last year that I know you are proud of! I always look forward to watching your vlogs. I tend to be a mood sewist but this year my plan is to be more focused on making things that suit my lifestyle and improving my sewing skills by learning to choose fabric that better suits the pattern and slowing down. These last two years have definitely changed us but hopefully soon things will get better!
So well said Connie! I feel the same way. I was just telling hubby I want to purchase fabric with an intent this year and not just because I like it. I do have a spring list of things I need in my wardrobe. Let’s see if I can bring that to fruition 😊
I am so glad to hear you did nothing with your chosen patterns and fabrics. I was the same. I did manage to make some maternity dresses for my granddaughter but I am stuck on making baby bibs for the 3 brand new great grandson. Something so simple, yet I’m not moving on them. Enjoy your sewing and those kiddos.
Thank you, Sue! Sometimes the mood just doesn't strike, no matter how good the intentions are to get it done. Congratulations on your new great grandson! That's so wonderful :)
You had some beautiful makes last year - I love those first dresses! Your thoughts around sewing for your current body and lifestyle really resonate with me. I’ve had to come to terms with the fact that I just don’t wear skirts and dresses - why do I keep buying dress patterns and putting them on my To Sew list!? I’ve really enjoyed following your adventures on the channel over the last year and you even inspired me to launch my own channel! So thank you and I hope 2022 is all you want it to be!
Oh, thank you! I'm so excited to hear that you've started a channel! I'll check it out. I think that I WISH I wore skirts and dresses more often, but ultimately, just am not in need of them right now. They are fun to make, though!
I also have a lifetime of saving my favorite garments for special occasions. . . that rarely occur. Many, I grew out of having worn them only once or twice. Not a good habit. Maybe the only solution is to throw away the comfortable unassuming gray sweatshirt.
Isn't that true? I can think of many times when I reached for a garment that I'd saved, only to find it either out of style or no longer fit. Maybe a closet purge is in order (but I'm keeping the sweatshirt, just in case...lol!)
Since you are a self identified "Squirrel" perhaps your Make 9's plan was not right for you? You achieved two new skills! Great job! Maybe your next Make 9's could be to plan 9 new skills? Maybe a You tube sew along or teaching your new skills? Happy Sewing!
