Fire Emblem art review with Bethany is something I didnt know I needed

I'm surprised Bethany didn't talk about Serra's shoes, because they say a lot. Natural brown leather flats - a very modest and relatively practical shoe. Compared to some of the heels worn by other FE women, these are shoes you can actually walk around in all day. And the colour - natural brown is extremely modest compared to some of the dress shoes worn by more opulent FE women, but they're also a stark colour contrast to the whites and purples of the rest of her outfit. It feels like they're a giveaway that Serra isn't a noblewoman or a high-ranking priestess, no matter what her purple (an exotic colour in pre-industrial times) scarf/skirt trim, jewellery and bubbly personality might suggest. And it's an interesting artistic decision to pose her in a way that draws attention to them: they could have been hidden (or nearly-hidden) under her skirt, but the anime kawaii pose brings them to greater visual prominence, both with the right foot kicked out and the left on tiptoe (and, again, the juxtaposition between the modest shoes and the 'extra' personality is curious)

The worst part about Ivy's design is that her Somneil design is absolutely gorgeous.

Something i like about Ishtar is that if you didn't know about her, you wouldn't know she is an enemy, she just doesn't look evil or trashy, she is very elegant and pretty and she has like a tinge of sadness. Probably my favorite design in the series.

After originally finding celines dress funny I did appreciate the idea behind it a bit more after realizing it's most probably based off Marie Antoinette. A lot of engages weird designs actually do have a basis in some kind of reference, problem being all of them referencing different sometimes obscure things is a bit visually confusing. Also Ivy's BBQ grill is something called a fascinator hat that high society women wear to special events here in the UK

as a leg guy, i think the asura legs are perfect. 1 with and 1 without cover is strangly fascinating and hot. better then only one way.

A smart choice to bring Bethany along for this one. You can really tell by her review that she has knowledge of fashion, fabric and tailoring, which is quite suitable for a video like this. Also, that Céline rant did not dissappoint, truly a popcorn moment.

Real talk this video format is adorable and well executed; Bethany is very insightful with her outfit knowledge and seeing you two bounce off of each other with commentary is very sweet

I would love to see Bethany rate Guinevere's dress, specifically the one from her hero's art, as it's one of my favorites.

I remember going to a medieval exhibit after Engage came out at my local museum once, and saw a dress that looked a lot like Céline's battle attire in a section labeled "Clothes of the Nobility" above the case. I took a picture of it and sent it to my brother who responed immediately with "You're just NOW realizing that this style of dress existed IRL?"

This is such a good video Mangs, you know you can make this as a video series for tips for good cosplay of fire emblem characters if you want. Also it is nice to hear Bethany's voice this clearly, my first time hearing her is with your video about "I trapped my friends in a Fire Emblem dungeon." Here her voice is more clearer. Totally good review too as well coming from Bethany, she is like a fashion judge or critique for FE characters especially FE ladies.

If you do more of these, I'd want to see what you think of Elincia, Ashera, post timeskip 3H Hilda, and Celica's initial and Rigain designs

This was a really fun video. Would love to see a part 2 at some point. One dress I think would be interesting is Citrinne from engage (also in heroes), since I find it to be one of the better dress designs in engage. Not that high of a bar to reach though lol. Deidre would be interesting as well.

Man if we do ever get a FE4 remake, they better not screw up the artstyle and redesigns. I swear FE4 remake better not look like any of the other games, it needs it's own dark fantasy art style, and all the characters should fit the aesthetic with the exception of others.

Well I certainly didn't expect that, but an interesting watch nonetheless. I'm gonna be fully honest, I was lost on any and just about all of the terminology that Bethany was using however: Sakura may have one of the most realistic dresses. Her design is I believe that of Japanese shrine maidens (which are sort of like Shinto shrine female staff? Of course her design is slightly more complex, but if you look it up you can see a pretty strong resemblance. Understandably, you were bound to review Engage designs. Though I am curious how different Bethany's takes would be if you showed Ivy's Somniel outfit (or even Lapis' Somneil outfit, even though you never had her on this review). Lastly, yes Mangs, she is right, Tatianna > Clair.

If Bethany sees this, I need an explanation on the love of orange and green color combinations. I've never heard that before, and almost all of the ones I look up just make me feel weird. Granted, my favorite color combo is deep black and an ultramarine-type blue, so it's a wildly different vibe.
