Ok so what Jason has shown here is a more accurate representation of what actually happens in real life instead of these 5 min DOOF DOOF videos well done Jas the Ace ;)

For me at least and I know for other techs we would love to see the end. At the end of the day if you dont try you fail and even when we fail we learn. By posting you teach and share the journey. I love your style, skill, enthusiasm look forward to the next video in this series and more of your everyday repairs.

Nice job Jason. Keep trying with this board to make it boot. You have to desolder cpu again and find the shorted pads. Measure the sorted line (on board and cpu) before reball again the cpu. The second attemp will be easyer. Good luck! Thanks for sharing your "FAIL" videos. Apple logo on the next video!

Have you considered investing in a 5.5 or 6.6 digit multimeter? Not sure if this method would even work on something as tiny as cell phone guts but I can usually find shorts on pc board with my 5.5 digit meter. Mainly because there is a big difference between reading 0.000 and 0.00089 ohms. So if I have something like 0.00088 from ground to v1, I'll start looking something lower. Sometimes old tricks are the best tricks. Good luck with that phone.

That scratches are pretty helpful I think, to get a feeling for if you touch the pcb at all and how hard you push, and also just shows how steady and sensitive your hands are. But the "Oops, I guess we won't need all the caps..." was so funny 😂 You are always so cool from the outside, are you the same on the inside or do you count all the bad words even in languages you never heard of? 😄 Like the others said to learn, but also just for satisfaction to see this work, every second is important, so don't think things like someone loses the interest, as more complicated it is, as less you need to cut the video, side effect is you safe a little of the time on cutting you lost on the repair and don't need to watch the misery again 😄 easy jobs can be short.

Failures only mean you’re about to learn something. Keep at it. Also a quick way to determine which side of a coil a short is on, is to remove it and diode mode each pad. You’ll know what to chase

Like a baby learning to walk a couple steps before a wabble & fall...but they get back up & try again before success keep at it bud (you know the mistakes you were making but were getting urself wound up i do the same & i either walk away or i make a silly choice...I've tried to stop allowing the rushing into a mistake & make the right choice when i see it) I think it was too much flux under CPU that caused the error but you seen that😉 Please keep it up bud & remember to take a breath when u get that urge & it will help, we're all on the journey with you man stay strong & pay the bills looking forward to the next 1😎

You may have not been successful, but glad you posted the attempt anyway. I wonder if for really tough shorts like this you could use something like an old Keithly 196, which can be found pretty cheap on ebay. It is able able to measure down to microvolts, microamps and milliohms. With that you could follow the resistance or voltage drop along the traces to the location of the short.

Jason, you need to stay professional ,you are a very clever guy I fully enjoy your video's but please don't rush any work you are doing for the benefit of us watching! Always produce the best work you can even when practicing soldering techniques, knocking components off putting them out of alignment does not advertise your work too well, we who always watch you know your work is normally excellent but for the new watchers and potential customers who may consider sending you work may be put off. Keep up the excellent work, cheers

Jason, did you get that copper wire from an overhead stanchion for an electric train? That's what it looks like under the 'scope. :) Sorry, but did you say that was your *first* attempt as reballing a CPU? I thought you would have done 5 or 10 practice runs first. When we went for our pilots licence we used to have many practice attempts at all maneuvers, especially engine failures, because there was no way you could get them right first time or even the 2nd or 3rd times. We did get better with each attempt just as you will with each attempt. Do you remember your first screen change? Was it as easy then as it is now? I bet the answer is no. I bet you could almost do them with your eyes closed, hell you may even be able to do them with your eyes closed. Do *not* get discouraged by any setbacks Jason because you cannot buy experience; it has to be earned on each different maneuver or part you work on. Just look at what you have accomplished so far with the CPU. It's just incredible. In the words of Albert Einstein, _A person who never made a mistake never tried anything new_ .

I was doing my first repair yesterday. It was on an iPhone X with a short on Vdd Main and at one point I accidentaly gave it 5V (instead of 4V) from a Power Supply with max Current of 12A :( It let out some smoke and I pulled the connection well before a second passed but now it takes 0A... Does someone know what part was most likely to burn through and break the connection?

First try a new dock, battery and multiple charge cables. Still not charging: 1.) Visual inspection of the battery connector. 2.) Diode reading on the VCC Main line at the battery connector. 3.) If "OL" or significantly lower than .350, move to the Charge IC. 4.) Visual inspect Charge IC. 5.) If there IS no visual damage to the IC or surrounding components, remove Charge IC. 6.) Check Diode readings for all pads. If there are any abnormal readings, test components on that line. 7.) If readings are normal replace Charge IC. 8.) If the device still is not charging, replace Hydra.
