I am really sorry that you are encountering anxiety and depression. You are a brave young woman and I admire you exposing your life on the internet like this. It's very personal and I am sensitive to that. Don't worry, you are not alone🙏❣️
I'm glad to see your studies are going well and that you are enjoying your life in New York. I am looking forward to see more of the city and surroundings in your next videos. Thanks for the video Dari, good job!
Dari, you need to be very proud of yourself! A score of 88 is a B+ in a subject that is one of the most difficult subjects to study! If you decide to become a CPA the test is one of the most difficult tests in the country! I love your adventures in New York since I was born there and it is nice to experience it through someone’s else’s eyes! Love your videos!🙂
You are a gem. So real. Hope you reach 100K+ subscribers soon. You deserve more than a million. Best of luck to you. Thank you for sharing your life experiences.
This was another great video. Thanks for showing the temperature in Fahrenheit, whenever you mention it in Celsius. It is a small thing, but I want you to know that I appreciate it.
Thank you Dasha. I've missed you and your videos.I enjoyed this video very very much. Fall in the North Eastern United States is wonderful. Beautiful places and interesting sites to see. Keep working hard Dasha, and keep seeing your friends! You are in my thoughts and prayers Dasha. God bless
I was surprised by the views on your hike to the lake - that part of New York looks a lot like the Ozark Mountains in my home state of Arkansas. I hope you have a chance to see more of the USA - there is an amazing variety of scenery as you move around the country.
I would have said, "be careful of grayish snakes, especially near rivers," but it turns out that water moccasins / cottonmouths do not live that far north. Mostly be afraid of orange or copper covered snakes; you are safer from poisonous snake species than other places. Some safe snakes, ex. hognose, look a little. Incidentally, the snake poem for the American Coral Snake (do not try to use this outside the US) is not entirely safe. “Red on yella, kill a fella. Red on black, a friend of Jack.”
Are you going to the Thanksgiving Day Parade in Manhattan? Nothing like it in the world. There will be over 2 million people there and to get a good space you have to get there VERY early. And it isn't too early to plan for New Years Eve when the ball drops, though I think that is very over rated. I never saw the sense of standing in a pen with 1000 other people for 12 houra ro see something that takes 10 seconds.
No, you are not alone in your concerns about guns and I'm an American. I can only vote accordingly.and pray these laws are changed in the next elections
@DariStep I'm not sure if you're familiar with the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade in NYC, it's totally next level, the largest and most famous parade in the world. It's been held since 1924. I hope.will be able to attend and share a vlog with us!
You wouldn't be normal if you didn't worry about shootings at public gatherings. Unfortunately it does happen but you need to just be aware, note your surroundings and give one moment of thought to how best to leave an area, if needed. But other than that I put it out of my mind and not let it get in the way of doing things. I think many Americans handle it similarly.
Although you are right about Tim Burton's film with Johnny Depp and Christina Ricci, Sleepy Hollow appeared on the cultural map of the USA earlier. In fact, it is related to a fairly early stage of the development of American literature in the USA, and specifically to the genre of gothic stories/gothic horror typical of the Romantic period. The reason is that Washington Irving's short story "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" was published in 1820 (when the USA was still a relatively new country). It was a sign that this new state and its society was creating its own culture at the same time in connection with the cultural and literary currents of the West, i.e. Europe at that time. And it's good to see you with Dash's new vlog. Good luck. Regards.
I studied Irving in college. I hadn't read him before and I enjoyed his stories. They're actually really accessible for that time period (seemed that way to me) I wrote a short story about Legend of Sleepy Hollow for a school assignment. We were to pick a story and write from a different POV. One of the best assignments ever. So fun. (I should go find that story....) I think I was from Katrina's POV.
I’m a little late in seeing this. Your hike was in such a beautiful place! It reminds me of my younger years in Chicago, when I used to go on autumn hikes at Starved Rock State Park. There is nothing better than a hike in the woods.
Dari, All you Russian girls are real attractive. I knew you were pretty enough to be a model. I think it's wise of you to be careful about where you go and your surroundings. Best wishes from Florida.
I honestly don't think about shootings at all... perhaps it's different in a big city. As long as I don't go to the bad parts of town (and don't walk alone at night) I feel pretty safe. Mostly there is just some petty crimes sometimes in my neighborhood like stealing packages etc. I'm trying to think of a time I was scared to be shot...I can't think of one. I've had a couple scary experiences with other things but not in this town (once in the country nearby that was the scariest). Gun violence may be more prevalent other places. When mass shootings happen they make the news because they're big. I only remember a couple lone shootings in this town in many years. More often injuries are fights or stabbing. Only time I saw violence almost directly is when in the town I used to live in (smaller than this) mom saw a guy that was stabbed on the side of the road and used her first aid training to help him. I was 10 then.
I’m happy for you that you’re in New York with friends from Russia and here. Anxiety is something I’ve had since I was a teenager and it can become debilitating panic attacks etc. I’m glad you’re out living your life. You’re amazing in many ways, I appreciate the videos, keep them coming. Not sure if that is in Jersey but they have a lot of money in some of those areas. Probably a great Halloween experience.
Great video! We all have ups and downs. You are a very busy city woman. Do not let others get in the way of your goals. You seem like an amazing woman.
Wait until you see the Thanksgiving day parade. It is unbelievable. People come from all of the country to participate. And the giant balloons are amazing.
Very interesting question. Politically speaking, yea. I know that I have rights and my political position will not put me to jail. On the other hand, I feel here the need to always focus on how I speak (so I won’t offend anyone). And there are also some subjects that are “forbidden” to discuss, while in Russia we can freely talk about it
Sleepy Hollow is the site of the legend of Ichabod Crane and the Headless Horseman. Disney made a short Cartoon about it. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CdZ1Y92eVfM.html Evidently there was a full movie made. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-KEY-aQW0NXo.html Sleepy Hollow is kind of the gateway to the Catskill Mountains. Route 17 is one of the most picturesque drives. The mountains are very beautiful and it was a popular resort area many decades ago. Further north between Albany and the Canadian border are the Adirondack mountains, also a vacation area. The entire region was once populated by the Dutch and many of the names of places are Dutch. New York City was originally called New Amsterdam. There are many legends about the Catskills such as Rip Van Winkle.
New York was one of the safest big cities in the US from about 2009-2020 and got a little more dangerous after that. Some credit Bloomberg for those years. Because it fluctuates different people have different stories / memories. The best thing to do is to be street smart. Don’t be a target. Being street smart doesn’t mean acting tough or being mean or pretending everyone is out to get you. Be yourself, and learn off the street, from the city itself. As you do. You’ll be ok. Be careful in the subway. And get that house Geko $14 from pet smart. It will be a good friend.
You clearly do not hear reports, are you living in my country USA and it doesn't even sound like you're talking about mass shootings. Do some research and im not saying that negatively
What I can’t understand is that Russian people come to America for there education but I see that Russian people in Russia hate Americans and Russia supports Hamas if you don’t believe me just ask Putin what he thinks of America. Please pray for Israel and Ukraine
On anxiety: consider that it may not actually be that your problems are so bad. Maybe it is the American food. A lot of Americans have anxiety all the time, regardless of their life. Perhaps try to buy more basic, natural food to cook at home and don't eat out or drink junk drinks for a month and see if your problems feel manageable and your sleep improves?
The weather could be warm until Thanksgiving then it'll get cold, around Christmas time is when the real winter begins. But it's nothing compares to Russia.
When I studied accounting, I noticed that those who had the most trouble with it were the ones who tried to 'understand' it, tried to get it to make sense. I found it easy, and it may have been because I approached it differently. I looked at it as I would a game, learn the rules and practice. as you learn and practice more, it eventually comes together. Remember that accounting is not about laws of nature, it's an artificial construct that is just a tool to organize information. Hope this helps.
What I think is not helpful are the volume of text that give instructions. I think if instructors pick the right videos for each section, it would help students grasp the subject better. And now they have RU-vid, an incredible platform for education. I wish someone taught me your advice when I was learning it
You need to visit Philadelphia. Quick train ride or short drive from NYC. Great city - historic sites, great museums, great food, architecture and much more. I’d love to see your perspective of the Birthplace of America. Next Halloween you need to go to Eastern State Penitentiary. Best haunted show in the country. Check it out
3:30 i think about it often i am mindful and aware of bad things in life and you are not overthinking i wonder why you would think you'd be over thinking
it is interesting and concerning as to why you experience anxiety to where its effecting you so bad that is so interesting and its interesting how you feel when experiencing it i would like to know what it feels like at least
Sleepy Hollow is famous for one thing, and it's neither of the two things Dari mentioned. It was made famous by the 1820 short story "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" by Washington Irving. The little "houses" in cemeteries are called mausoleums.
Dearest Dari, First, I have confidence that you will be allright, however... Physical symptoms of "anxiety attacks?" or any symptoms in general are a huge RED LIGHT WARNING! 🛑 Please addres such problems and seek counselling. Your body and mind want you to be happy in life!, and failure to addres such things may just accumulate over time and leave you completely broken one day. Please, please, please sweet Dari, work with these things and turn things around while there is still time 🙏 Second, loved the videoes and pictures. Very good footage and themes. Happy Halloween 👻💀🕸🎃 Also couldn't help noticing that you've picked up a few new frases "... is to say nothing" very cute. Then you obviously are getting much more confident and clear in your pronounciation when speaking english, clearly these few months among native english speakers are having a positive effect allready Third, VESSI, who said you couldn't be outdoors hiking and be practical dressed while remaining fashionable - you look great🥾😍 Warm hugs and best wishes
Yes! That is a Timber Rattlesnake! There are only two types of venomous snakes in New York State, the Timber Rattlesnake and the Copper Head. The Copper Head's venom is not deadly to humans, but you DO NOT what to get bit by a Timber Rattlesnake! The Timber Rattler can be kinda deadly, you were very smart to stay away from him!!
I really enjoyed your video, Dasha! I understand as busy as you are you can't post as often, but it's missed. Your life is your business and you share little glimpses here of your choosing. I can assure you we all have our struggles though. You've come so far and done so well with your dreams so far. Try to keep your chin up and know many of us are cheering you on. 💜🤙
Thank you for sharing your video with us. The celebration of Halloween in New York is truly fabulous. I am also happy that relations between Russia and the USA 🇺🇸 are normalizing. I know there are many young Russians who would like to visit the United States. Regarding your anxiety, you should consult at the University because they have a lot of resources to help you overcome your anxieties. They can also refer you to an outside psychologist. Anxieties are excessive emotions of the survival instinct. Anxieties signal imminent danger but in reality this danger is not real. A lot of these anxieties, in my opinion, are due to the fact that we don't know our bodies well enough. I assume that a student in medicine would never have such anxieties. We are simply afraid of what we do not know. The anxiety will disappear when you are convinced that this fear is not realistic and that the danger does not exist. Waiting to consult, keep doing your things normally and remain optimistic. Wish you the best.
Dari, Your videos are so interesting, but mostly I'm pleased that you are being enriched by being a student and learning in the USA. Accounting courses can be very difficult. They always told me "not to drop your pencil", meaning you could miss something when stopping to pick up the pencil. Funny! Congratulations on your test score of 88%. That is a B, and OK. The small town you saw in NY with all the decorations is replicated many times in America. The homes you saw would be upper-middle class in the US, and not ultra-rich, but very nice. Many Americans have the pleasure of this lifestyle! Enjoy your stay and studies, as it may be hard to return to Russia (as I've viewed so many places outside of Moscow and St. Petersburg.) Cheers!
Fabulous video! Fabulous views! Exciting adventure! We are happy you got to enjoy Halloween American-style, Daria. For many like me, it’s our favorite holiday. You are such a stylish dresser. I love those VESSI clothes. Never heard of them. I’ve told you before that you look like a model. I hope that many people back in Russia see your videos. Though America does indeed have serious problems, we certainly value or freedom, and like you and your friends, we love to travel and enjoy life. It just dawned on me that you, Daria, are probably the best ambassador that Russia has. Many Americans like me want to have friendly and open relations with Russia, but, as you know, a certain leader seems to be taking your beautiful country back to the Dark Ages. You could be a bridge between our countries, like the Bridge of Peace in Tblisi.
It is good you didn't go to Syracuse Univ. They just got hit by a big snowstorm and another is coming for the weekend. Big difference in weather in NYC and upstate NY. I grew up 40 miles east of Syracuse. I would never move back. I am here, 70 miles north of NYC, just south of Poughkeepsie. Going bike riding tomorrow. Going to be a bit cold, but I can layer up and be OK. Not in upstate NY.
@@DariStep I later found a site with snow totals, and the city of Syracuse got 6 inches, but the further north you went, up to Lake Ontario, it got worse and worse. Right next to the lake, one place had 43 inches. It's called Lake Effects Snow. The warm moist air hits the cold dry air and snow falls. It can drop snow hundreds of miles away, all the way to Albany. I know, I traveled in it on the Thruway many Christmases. I would come up from the south, then travel west at Albany. All the way from Albany to Clinton, near Utica, there could be heavy snow. One time it was so bad, I was in a white out. That is when you can;t see anything but white. It happened for about 30 sec. near Utica. When I could finally see, I was still on the road, but there were numerous cars off the road for the next few miles. My brother used to travel to Buffalo from Plattsburgh every Thanksgiving and Christmas. to his wife's parents. Eventually, they stopped doing that and would go in early Novenber to avoid the snow.. Growing up in Clinton, we thought all of this was normal.
When you visit Boston, be sure to visit The Freedom Trail of Paul Revere and the old north church. And the site of the boston tea party. Ienjoy riding the double decker buses to tour the city. "LISTEN, my children, and you shall hear Of the midnight ride of Paul Revere, On the eighteenth of April, in Seventy-five; Hardly a man is now alive Who remembers that famous day and year. He said to his friend, “If the British march By land or sea from the town to-night, Hang a lantern aloft in the belfry arch Of the North Church tower as a signal light, - One, if by land, and two, if by sea; And I on the opposite shore will be, Ready to ride and spread the alarm Through every Middlesex village and farm, For the country folk to be up and to arm." -Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Paul Revere's Ride
I fear snakes just like you. I hate my that just seeing them makes me fearful. It is something I continue to work on. But anyway the snake you saw in the park was a timber rattlesnake.
Thanks for the new video, Dari. I should comment on your fears regarding shootings. For some perspective, according to the CDC, here are some statistics (looks like mostly for 2021). Deaths by firearms: 48,830 Motor vehicle traffic deaths: 45,404 However, many of the firearm deaths were suicides. Deaths by suicide: 48,183 (26,328 by firearms) So many more people die from auto accidents than from random shootings.
Worrying about getting shot is like worrying about having an airplane land on you. Don’t waste your time worrying about things you have no control over! Be happy. In all my years of living and traveling throughout the USA, I and none of my friends have been victims of any crimes. You are safe here!
I've lived in the USA for 45 years in a middle class normal neighborhood and luckily have never experienced a single criminal incident personally. People are polite and Amazon leaves packages all day on my doorstop in open view and they are never taken.
theres so many over the past few years!!! even the highschool i went to down the road had a shooting you clearly do not hear of certain news there has probably been at least 20 school shootings in the past couple years, and theres shootings at stores and events you should do some research on mass shootings reported you'll see a lot stuff that is not even on TV
Dari (Smart lil' Russian) Step great video. Dari as an add on, in your next video, how do you feel about America's gun laws? it seems that a gun is so easy to acquire there, that I would not feel comfy in myself in the knowledge that while I'm in some cafe having a coffee and sandwich, someone having a bad day and wants to take it out on everyone else, walks in and starts shooting because of easy access, how do you feel about that?
@@DariStep Yeah, here in Australia, we get a lot of gun shootings in America on the tellie news, seems like only a week passes and there's another gun massacre, myself, I wouldn't live in America in a fit. When the Port Arthur massacre happened, the Gov. in a knee jerk response, banned all high powered guns. At first even though I have zero interest in buying/owning any sort of fire weapon, I still thought it was an affront to my personal right of choice but as time went on, I also have a right of choice of going into a cafe, enjoying a coffee with a piece of cake without the threat of some nut job coming in blowing my head off..so.. my Gov. if you eliminate the source, you eliminate the threat, banned all guns, that's just the way it is now, we still have people havin' a bad day trying to kill people with a car but nowhere near the body count if they had one of those high powered guns with a few hundred rounds in their possession.
I think someone is home-sick, missing Moscow deep down. I had similar feelings in my first few weeks living away from home, and that was all in the UK. As you get more familiar with New York, it will begin to feel like home. Pleased you like the High Line. It is a 'must visit' place when ever my daughter goes to New York.
@@DariStep , But poster makes a good point, because u could miss family and pets on a subconscious level. Anyway, hopefully you get to do some video chats with them now and again.
Hello Dari! I’m so pleased to see you enjoying yourself so much. I’m especially happy to see that you visited Sleepy Hollow. It looked like such a fantastic visit to celebrate Halloween with your friends. As for fear of mass shooting, I know it’s in the back of my mind nowadays, but I’m determined to live my life as best I can without fearing every potential risk to life and limb. Finally, about those times when anxiety takes grip, I’m very glad to hear you were able to get through it with the company of your friends. There is so much going for you, all due to your hard work and willingness to take risks. There’s a reason I follow your channel, your adventures inspire me and entertain me. I don’t even know you, and you contribute positivity to my life. In such a crazy, topsy-turvy world, you making it just a little better with your videos, well, I think that’s a pretty big deal what you do. Keep it up!!!!
You are _definitely_ not the only one who is nervous about gun violence in the US. In contrast, since arriving in Vilnius, I haven't even considered gun violence.
You are so adorable. Thanks for sharing. BTW: On the drones... perspective matters. From one perspective the drones may have been forming recognizable patterns such as animals or text. But from other angles it would look like a random mess. It's a 3D point cloud and your brain sees an image based on where you are located. Others, 90 degrees offset, will see something totally different.
Both of our countries are extremely beautiful. Unfortunately, politics and governments make them not so beautiful for those who just want to enjoy the beauty. Thank you for your content and having such an open heart. Matt
You ARE overthinking fear of shootings, almost to the point of a nightmare. The chances of anything bad happening are one in the many millions. Just chill out and enjoy the States. Welcome to your new home. It's great to have you here with us. Relax. Everything is going to be just fine. I've never seen Sleepy Hollow, just read about it in the classic Washington Irving story. Loved that whole segment.
With all of the anger and craziness in the world right now, I would be worried about attending big gatherings. But you are correct that the odds of danger are much lower than the news makes it seem.
Beautiful photography! Great editing! Congratulations on your academic success. Stay close to your friends when you’re feeling down. By the way, I don’t worry about shootings because the odds are so low, compared to, say, being diagnosed with cancer or getting killed in a car accident. When the movie Jaws came out, I had an irrational fear of being attacked by a shark, even though the odds were so small. (Of course, if we had reasonable gun laws, the odds of being shot would be even smaller).
