❤ It's a funny fact of human nature... we are so accustomed to the landscapes here that we take them for granted, but, if I were driving in France, my greatest memory would be how beautiful the French landscapes are! I guess it is the same dichotomy for everyone!

You're lightyears ahead of most American drivers just by your ability to drive a standard transmission. Not too many of those left here, and the only people who can drive them are old farts like me, for the most part. Well done.

I was born in 1971 and learned to drive manual transmission when I was 12. I even took my driver's test at 16 in a stick shift. It's a good skill to have learned since other countries have them as rental cars. In 2006 I went to Ireland and there was not one car to rent that was automatic. Driving in the passenger side of the car and shifting with my left hand was super challenging and scary, but I survived 10 days of driving around the country. It seems manual transmissions are a novelty these days in the US.

So very proud of you. Driving in a foreign country can be very daunting. You did fantastic! Fortunately, you have been driving on the right side of road already in France. Many foreigners complain about the lack of an extensive passenger train system to get around in the US. Part of the American lifestyle is the freedom to get in your car and explore. To stop anywhere you want anytime you want and enjoy the sites. Much of the US was built around the automotive industry. The cars, the tires, and of course our extensive (wide-laned) roads to enjoy all the beautiful sites. Now you know why we do not have that extensive passenger rail system. 🌵🎵❤

Good job most people in America can’t drive a standard shift anymore, that’s what I learned on in my 1965 VW bug, careful going on corners in that jeep don’t take corners too fast, any vehicle that sits up higher like that be careful. Time for you to rent a Mustang!, preferably a large V-8 manual shift. 😊

I know what you mean when you say you were 'stressed'. Forty plus years ago I experienced the same stress driving in Germany for the first time. From Bremerhaven to Stuttgart my eyes never stopped looking for the 'Priority Road' yellow square and about 2o+ new traffic signs.. I learned the rules of the German road and drove in Europe for over 10 with no accidents. I did, however, have my photo taken, more than once. I hope you enjoy your time in the US as much as I did in Europe.

In 1973 my friend and I went in together on an old Audi(I think)while we were stationed in Germany. I was from Los Angeles so my driving skills were good. He was from Montana, and since they had no freeways there, he scared the hell out of me, merging onto the autobahn. He would come to a complete stop, and then merge. 😲😲😲

In the early 90s I was posted to Yokosuka Japan as a US Navy Military Policeman for two years shore duty . I was required to get a Japanese driver's license and pass an Emergency Vehicle Operators Course . Japanese drive on the left side of the road like the British . The road signs are totally different than American signs and written in Kanji characters . I was driving a patrol vehicle off base within two weeks . The Japanese police let us drive as we wished as long as we didn't cause any accidents .

Awesome job Marie! The best kind of vehicle to drive is a stick shift. I find you have more control over the vehicle as opposed to driving with automatic transmission. Hey Marie! 🤗✨ I looooove driving manual transmission cars! It actually feels like "driving" instead of just "pointing" the car where you want to go. And yeah, rush-hour traffic is crazy and stressful pretty much in every large city in the US. You did great! 😃👍 And it's so nice to know you've gotten the chance to drive so much more here that you're now comfortable with it! I've got family in both CA and CO, and I have often driven the 1000+ mile (each way) trip. I love the scenery and spacious roadways too, regardless whether I drive the southern route (through NM and AZ), or the northern route (through UT and NV). Lots of beautiful stuff to see! This was a great video! Thank you!! 🥰 Looking forward to your next one! See you soon! xo 🤗💗

Hi Your going all out embracing the adventure of the open road Marie Pedal to the metal, blazing a trail as a highway 🌟 🚘 Yippee!!! Were all so proud of you, no matter how anxious it was to begin with , you handled a jeep so superbly & dressed the part , I never doubted that your come through with flying colours, all you needed was a little encouragement from buddy riding shotgun. I'm glad he explained all about turning on a red light , it can be a bit confusing for foreigners if to stop or not, it's different if your in NY & there's usually signs at certain intersections which are busy where turning on a red light would be hazardous. There's a lot more signs to familiarize yourself with in the states & Arizona I've noticed has some of the wackiest & most creative place names, maybe you've come across them to, I can't believe you'll really covered a 1000 miles already, have you thought about testing yourself off road, it must be a great feeling having so much freedom driving for the first time with all those scenic views, it will inspire others that they can also follow their dreams & they'll come true. If your traveling through east chandler boulevard, Prescott valley, the el gordo mex grill has a reputation for the best Mexican food in the state, I came across the article today. Thanks again you roadrunner beep beep , it's always appreciated, I wanna add that song to my playlist now ,hope you enjoyed your tequila , pat your 🐕 Johnnie for me & good luck exploring, take care marie sweet desert rose 🤠 🏜️ 💗 ✌️

It was a caution with Jeeps to not sharply turn when even at a slow speed as it can trip over the turned front wheels and flip over, rear over front. Seen it happen more than once with a Jeep swerving to avoid a parallel vehicle crossing too close into its lane.

They have roundabouts in Phoenix? Huh, that's wild. We're starting to warm up to the idea of them more in the US, but only a handful of places have them. I've personally never seen one. My friend used to have a big lifted Jeep that we'd go mudding in. It got stock in the ice once and I got out to assess where it was stuck. For some reason he put it in reverse and started backing up. I was on solid ice and couldn't get my footing and he ended up running me over (I didn't go under the wheels or anything, but I was under the Jeep). Wary of those things now, haha. You did great! Glad you had fun.

It's hilarious to see you driving in Arizona! Now you know what I felt like driving in Paris (in a top-down Jeep Wrangler as well)! I loved seeing your comment about everyone driving faster than the "speed limit". The age-old adage of, "The colors of freedom are Red, White, and Blue...until they are flashing behind you." applies here. Most people keep a lookout for police and if there aren't any visibly around, they're going to exceed the speed limit because people have places they need to be and everyone's always in a rush. The only thing he should have done is get you out on some dirt roads for your first Off-Road experience, and it's a LOT slower! If you want incredible views, you have to go beyond the asphalt.

WOW - MARIE, you did sooooo well 🤗🥰 !!! I would have been a nervous wreck in your place 😮😮!!! That right turn on red after stop is an interesting rule, and crazy if you are not used to it. AND, there are some intersections it is not allowed, so we always have to read all the signs at every stop light intersection. AND you were driving a lifted jeep - that is simply an amazing job we saw on that video 😍🤗. That is the first time I saw stress in your face 😲😄, but you simply handled it so very well - so proud of you!! And now you've driven hundreds of miles in the US - so cool Marie 😇🤗. Those same speeders fly by me too, even though I drive about the way you do relative to the speed limit on highways, so I say let them get all the tickets 🤣🤣. My cousin, a Texas State Trooper, says he sets his radar 15 mph above the speed limit and is busy all day 😂🤣❗ Yes, Arizona has so very many intriguing views and scenes to enjoy, and it makes my heart jump for joy that you are having such a wonderful and happy visit there ❤🤗1 Please enjoy the rest of your visit, please drive carefully ☺and stay safe, and Take Care Marie 🥰🙏🥰.

Driving for the first time in a foreign country is always stressful. I rented a manual shift car a couple of years ago to drive from Southern England to Edinburgh. I hadn’t driven a manual transmission in many years. Besides that, I had to drive on the “wrong” side, and I couldn’t get my GPS to work. I still get stressed thinking about it.

Then she immigrated to the US in 2011 and 2 years later I taught her how to drive - yes, automatic transmission. Now she is a road warrior. And on the right side of the road of course. I drove in Germany and didn't have much trouble at tall because it's not too different than the US. Good thing she didn't try to drive in the Washington DC area. Driver usually roll through stop lights, sometimes not even slowing down much. Northern Virginia (just west of Washington DC) seems to have the worst drivers in the US, and I"ve driven all over California, Texas, midwest, upstate NY and its the worst here.

Just to give you insight when your at a red light just take a look at the other light and when it turns yellow you'll have at least 5 to 6 seconds before your light turns green. Unless it has a left turn lane then you have a bit longer to wait. Here it's all about timing.

You are amazing. Jeeps are solid axle vehicles and intended for off-road driving. I hope you go off-roading!

Oh man. That made me more homesick than the first one! I grew up driving those some of those same roads (I think). Watching the desert slide by was both awesome and painful. Can't wait for the next video though.

Bravo Marie!!! Well done.😎👍👍👍👍. You’re driving in a vehicle strange to you, in a big city, and in rush hour traffic no less, was excellent. From his comments, you had a good teacher too. Now that you can handle roads and traffic well, maybe he can show you how to drive off road a little bit. That’s when driving a lifted Jeep like his becomes really fun! Really looking forward to your next video. Great job as always!!!😎👍👍👍

I'm sorry I can't relate, I drove in many foreign countries while in the Army with no problems, but the first time my Wife drove in Europe she was a total basket case. I hope to see videos of you driving off road, that is a blast, you are in a perfect vehicle for it. Thanks for posting.

Awe this is great. Back in high school I used to ride with my "Tiffany in her jeep with her friends every weekend. Just riding around having fun or to our favorite lake place to hang out and picnics. You look great in the jeep. I'm glad to watch you experience this. 👏
