This is the first year I started selling cotton candy. I bought my machine for $950 through Gold Medal. I sold over 500 cotton candy containers at $5 this year and did 7-10 school fundraisers. The cotton candy addition really helped boost my business. One school even called me because I was cheaper than their first request and the "other guy" was charging $8 a container. When I was only asking for $5 and I gave the school back an additional 20% of my sales to help fund the PTA.
Thanks everyone for supporting my channel hope you guys had a good 2023 and I wish you the best of success for 2024. i am expanding and growing and I just love this business. As a disabled business owner this business saved my life and as I say as being my own boss "I can't fire myself". Thanks everyone for your positive feedback. Like, and Subscribe, and if you want to donate to my channel the link will be below.

Great video, thanks for the info. I’m a retired LEO, relocated to Texas. I bought a 160qt kettle corn cooker. I’m shopping for a trailer and looking for farmers markets and festivals to get to selling.

Yes. Applications should start soon. The fact that you got everything together now is what I did. Then. I tested out my machine to get everything ready before I started at the market.

You should look at the automated sealer machine that seals containers like your using. I seen it on one of cotton candy groups. I've heard stays fresh for months. I'm going to get one also. Great video

I make them as is and I sell them pretty quick. I sell about 30-50 a week during season and I have no problem selling out. So at this point I don't need one of those machines.

Gold medal also sell plastic tubs for floss and has printing on it CANDEE FLUFF maybe cheaper than what you are currently paying and they probably seal better and hold product longer just thought i would mention it cheers

I am going to make a custom label for the cotton candy that is my own. I don't want to not be recognized as my own branding so that is why I use the blank cups. I'm going to make a professional label when I have more money to get a nice label with my graphic designer.
@DanielSchmidt94521

At 7:26 you will see the picture of someone using a nice label for their cotton candy. Very professional That's what I plan on doing this year.

Weird to hear you’ve got haters, you share quality info and your personal observations. And it’s free to us. What do they complain about? Also why’d you choose the deli cups over bags? Guessing they keep their condition better longer?
@DanielSchmidt94521
@DanielSchmidt94521 6 месяцев назад
Small things. One comment was I said "actually" too much. Lol. Another said my signs for my business look like they were made by a 5 year old. Though this year my sign for my menu is metal. Another one said I wasn't really disabled. Another complained about how they couldn't hear my voice. But. I'm working on getting better at that. My videos now are much better than they were 3 years ago. You can see the difference.
@DanielSchmidt94521
@DanielSchmidt94521 6 месяцев назад
The containers have a nice professional look and they stack easier. The bags I use for kettle corn. It's also easier to put in and seal. I don't have to worry about twist ties. When you get into a rhythm of making them stuffing them into a container verses a bag is much quicker and easier.

@@DanielSchmidt94521 for sure, your vids are infinitely better now than they used to be. I find your vids very informative, some I watch twice so as to make notes on how to move forward. I am not selling kettle corn yet, but when I do, I’ll be educated and have saved years on the learning curve thanks to guys like you. Don’t sweat the negs. Focus on the positive difference your vids make for guys like me. Certainly you’ve got more fans than haters.

I just bought a caramelizer. And I decided when I bought my kettle to when kids and adults have nut allergies to say "No" with the nuts. Now with the kettle it's entirely possible. I ended up buying a caramelizer and this year will be roasting nuts in the caramelizer.

Hey Dan, Just another question in your professional opinion. The differences between the Sweet machines and Northbend. Greg got me interested in the business too! Northbend promotes that their equipment is all NSF stainless. Do you think this makes a difference between them and the diamond plate from Sweet? Thanks again, brother!
@abrahamnutrition
@abrahamnutrition 2 месяца назад
It looks like they don't use diamond plate any longer but aluminum.
@DanielSchmidt94521
@DanielSchmidt94521 2 месяца назад
My steel bowl is a beast. My first year I mistakingly got the 80 quart but the quality was there. But after $300 in sales it couldn't keep up. I really like the Master Series. After watching every Greg Sweet video hundreds of times it convinced me to start the leap from being a kettle corn employee to my own boss. I actually wanted to sell something else but went back to Kettle Corn.
@DanielSchmidt94521
@DanielSchmidt94521 2 месяца назад
I also like the fact that the bowl itself is made in Indiana. Everything the Sweet's does is American. I buy most of my supplies American when I can. My labels are made in Texas. I have business cards and labels made from the same company. This year I'm going to do more retail.
@DanielSchmidt94521
@DanielSchmidt94521 2 месяца назад
What matters is the bowl. As long as the bowl itself is steal. Then you're fine. The outside can be aluminum it won't effect the popcorn. They probably did this if I had to guess as a cost saving measure.

you might consider swapping out the cotton candy game for the freeze dried candy. Its trendy and id imagine the shelf life is a bit longer
@hornikchris
@hornikchris 6 месяцев назад
Have you seen how much a freeze dryer is compared to a cotton candy maker the difference is immense.
@DanielSchmidt94521
@DanielSchmidt94521 6 месяцев назад
You have to buy the candy in bulk to make anything, and in my opinion it's already candy that someone else makes. Why do we need freeze dried candy? And yeah. I actually make cotton candy myself. The profit margin as Homil says is like popcorn. Extremely high.
@DanielSchmidt94521

The other issue is there are markets that I'm in where kids do this for a business. I think it's pretty cool seeing a kid that's an entrepreneur and I don't want to take away business from friends or people next to me. I've become friends with lots of my vendors over the years. So when I add things to my business I make sure I don't take away from someone else.
