I’m in love with the business idea I would love to start my own soon I have been thinking of this for months since I’ve seen my local drive in theater doesn’t have anything type of vendor around
@@DanielSchmidt94521 Oh okay sorry. I just thought because you were throwing out numbers. I made $75,000.00 one season selling fudge and movie style popcorn.
Is the equipment (especially your kettle) light enough that you don't need a ramp to load up in the ford transit?? I Really can't decided if I should get a trailer or some time of van. I'm concerned it's too heavy.
On an already hot day. Doing $300 or more really killed it. The smoke turned black. Where as with the 160 quart. I can do $3,000+ and pop large batches back to back.
@@Hotburger-TWINS No problem brother. I learned a lot of lessons along the way and started this channel to help others in the same situation. Had I known what I know now I would have spent the extra money and gotten the 160 quart bowl.
The outside of my booth is just fine. Negative and dumbass comments will be deleted. Everything is cleaned and organized for the day. Eventually I'll get new signs. But the front of my booth is not dirty. Go fuck yourself.
Can someone please tell me why whenever I make cotton candy it always shrivels up within minutes? I've been thinking of starting a cotton candy business. I bought a cotton candy machine for home use to to try and get the feel of it first. The cotton candy always starts out great, (round and fluffy)but within 5 minutes or less, it shrivels up😢. I don't know where I am going wrong. Would be helpful with any tips.
The "starts with S" - Saccharin? This is sometimes used in China... ubiquitous artificial sweetener, but it's a carcinogen so not recommended. Some of the Chinese websites that sell these sell little packets of "popcorn saccharin". I plan on experimenting with some of the more modern aritificial sweeteners and salt to see if I can't popcorn-cannon a load of "kettle" corn! BTW, you can puff all kind of things like rice etc. Also, I think it would be a fun project to use a gas burner, some kind of power-driven spinning motor, and an electronic pressure gauge to partially automate the process. The attraction is probably the "Boom". :D
That's a good question. I think that it came with those gloves in the box. It was in Chinese. I don't know Chinese. I guess if it was hot. These gloves would protect me. I watched a lot of these videos before making this video.
I know how to clean these kettles Daniel, When I bought mine, I only had to use a steal wire wheel once. Feel free to contact me. I would love to help.
So. Its funny how I make videos to help people get started and I right away have dumbasses trying to be critical to attack me for no reason. 1) I'm repairing my kettle corn machine I am not serving kettle corn. If I was serving I wear a hat, I use gloves, mask, and I follow heaith deosrtment guidelines. 2) I'm repairing the kettle. The burned sugar went all over my clothes. These clothes I wear to specifically throw sway after. So rather than criticize me like you already know why not watch my other videos before putting your foot in your mouth?
No disrespect fella but those cloths you wear for cooking need burning. You also need to wear some gloves, apron and a hair net. You look more like a mechanic.
So this was to repair the kettle if you can't see. This isn't a day where I'm at a market. I specifically wore clothes that I'd throw away because the sugar when you grinded it off went all over your clothes. And yes I wear gloves. I also wear a hat and I wear a mask when cooking. This popcorn I'm not serving I'm throwing away. You can see how I prepare for other markets in other videos then maybe you wouldn't be rude or open your mouth next time.
You can see in my other videos that I obviously wear protective equipment. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-w5COFw1J-is.htmlsi=EEviusRyXBckc_Zx
@@abrahamnutrition I mean. It’s just rude. To come on here. To hate on me. For running my business. To then hate. Just because he’s jealous or an idiot. I’m not using my good clothes and wearing my good gloves. Obviously I’m going to throw them away. I’m at someone’s yard. Fixing my kettle. I’m not serving food to people. Two entirely different things.
You know i don't know why RU-vid recommended this to me but i like the fact small channels get a chance now too to gain some audience. Also never knew popcorn making was a legit business so that is neat!
@@DanielSchmidt94521 I've been enjoying it, since my disability i couldn't really pursue anything career wise but with my somewhat recent internet upgrade i was able to stream so hopefully in time i can build up something nice!
How much with shipping would a new kettle cost me? I live in Maryland. I'm debating buying one and someone asked me about buying a kettle corn machine and I sent them your way dude. Thanks for subscribing. I think that's cool that you build your own machines. If you want some advertisement want to do a video of your process I'd gladly give you some free advertising.
Hey Schmidty, Haven't talked for a few days. I am beginning to deal with our health department. How many sinks do they typically require in your area? In my area say for a hot dog cart we need 4. with a dedicated handwashing sink. Thanks, brother!
I have to pay a seasonal permit and my wash station is 4 buckets and I have soap, water, towels, and bleach, and test strips. Have you had your first day in business yet?
Hey Dan, Just another question in your professional opinion. The differences between the Sweet machines and Northbend. Greg got me interested in the business too! Northbend promotes that their equipment is all NSF stainless. Do you think this makes a difference between them and the diamond plate from Sweet? Thanks again, brother!
My steel bowl is a beast. My first year I mistakingly got the 80 quart but the quality was there. But after $300 in sales it couldn't keep up. I really like the Master Series. After watching every Greg Sweet video hundreds of times it convinced me to start the leap from being a kettle corn employee to my own boss. I actually wanted to sell something else but went back to Kettle Corn.
I also like the fact that the bowl itself is made in Indiana. Everything the Sweet's does is American. I buy most of my supplies American when I can. My labels are made in Texas. I have business cards and labels made from the same company. This year I'm going to do more retail.
What matters is the bowl. As long as the bowl itself is steal. Then you're fine. The outside can be aluminum it won't effect the popcorn. They probably did this if I had to guess as a cost saving measure.
I just bought a caramelizer. And I decided when I bought my kettle to when kids and adults have nut allergies to say "No" with the nuts. Now with the kettle it's entirely possible. I ended up buying a caramelizer and this year will be roasting nuts in the caramelizer.
what's good bro i'm thinking about starting this up! someone just told me the buy 50 big pallets of kernels at one time and makes 1000 off each bag does that seem do able ?
I make between $700-$900 a bag on average. There are a lot of factors involved. How the corn is stored, the moisture in the corn. The yield quality. Etc etc etc.
Low low heat is the difference maker with Glazepop Caramel. We turn down our gas 5 psi from where we pop Kettle Corn. Another little trick we do is add more oil than normal, and then add some sugar to the mix as well. We never burn it, and it is a bit sweeter. We do the same thing with their Chocolate mix as well.
Need a little help! Just starting out. I have an 80qt popper that I built. Having trouble with output. Only getting 1/2 the yield that others talk about. 3 cups of corn getting two small, two medium and two large bags. Approximately 12 big scoops. I’m only getting about 6?small bags. What pressure should I run my tank at? Tried 15, 17 & 12. No change in yield. Some issue with burning. Thanks for any help offered.
This Easter, I rented a machine and made cotton candy in my kitchen. I’m raising money for my daycare. It was the messiest cooking experience ever! I had to put a bath towel over the opening of the hood. I got the timing of the correct amount to one minute. I’m very glad that cotton candy has a very long shelf life.
